Hello everyone,

I am currently unable to start Civ 3 Complete (Aspyr) from my Intel Core 2 Duo iMac running Leopard version 10.5.8. When I open the application from or from Finder, it bounces several times on the dock and then disappears. Shortly after, I receive an error message that says "The application Civilization 3 Complete quit unexpectedly." The accompanying error report reads as follows:

I have tried deleting and reloading both the Application Support and Application files from the disk and Time Machine, and still nothing works. Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, welcome. :wavey:

What version of Quicktime do you have? The latest Leopard version was 7.6.2, I think.

This sounds a bit like the problems that arose when Apple released Quicktime version 7.6. At that time, Aspyr produced a set of updated applications to fix it, however, those files no longer exist on their server. So either the newer version of Quicktime doesn't need the fix, or Aspyr screwed up and removed some useful files.

I've raised a ticket with Aspyr to ask what the situation is.

UPDATE

Here is Aspyr's reply:

Hello Alan,

Thank you for contacting Aspyr Tech Support!

With recent software updates available, the Quicktime 7.6 fixes are no longer necessary for our titles. If there are present issues occurring, we encourage our customers to submit tickets on our website so that we will happily address and resolve them.

Feel free to contact us with any further comments or issues.

Thank you,

Aspyr Tech Support

So you had better contact them.

Thanks Alan,

I have Quicktime version 7.6.4 running on my Mac - I will see if there is a newer version and contact Aspyr myself as well.

Quicktime 7.6.4 should be fine. If it isn't working then Aspyr Support is the place to go.

It works on my MacPro with both 10.5.8 (QuickTime 7.6.4) and 10.6.1. :D
