Civ-4 GOTM 01: Saves available

Have to call it a day, it's past midnight here. Thanks alot guys for your hard work. And "tomorrow" evening it's time to play.

I am still getting the Microsoft C++ error even with the new save. Thanks for working so hard on this to get it going! Do you have any idea how to fix this one? Hope so, because I am looking very forward to playing.
PS I went through the program, not just from explorer.

Can you load other games without any problems? Have you tried a reinstall? Have you got patch 1.09?

I have got the patch. I have not had any problems loading games. I havent tried the full reinstallation yet. The only mods I am using are Bluemarble and the addition of Canada as a civ.
Has the reinstall worked for anyone with this particular error?

Which save(s) did you try? civ4gotm01bc4000(updated) or civ4gotm01bc4000(wbupdated) or both?

Did your addition of Canada as a civ replace one of the original civs? Is it an actual mod (program files\civ4\mods), a change in custom assets (my documents\my games\civ4\custom assets), or a change of the original assets (program files\civ4\assets)?

Try loading this file: (It's one I randomly generated just now, not the GOTM.)

Ok. A clean install seems to have done the trick. The only thing I havent put back in was Bluemarble. I will see if that changes anything.
Thanks for all the help.

@the staff: Will submitting without keeping a log result in my game being disallowed? Maybe I can find time to play, but I definately won't have time to keep a log...

EDIT: Never mind, I found the answer in another topic.... :) I'll see if I can find enough time for this...

Well, I have downloaded the savegame and-as people can probably tell-I have already played it for over 8-10 hours, give or take! Without revealing any info about the game itself, I was curious as to whether this was a random map or a 'player-created' map? If it is the latter, then it is TRULY brilliant-though I won't say why, yet ;). I don't know what other people think, but I have never had this much fun playing a GOTM, and I truly believe that Civ4 is going to revolutionise the whole GOTM experience-but that is just my opinion.

I agree Aussie_Lurker; this GOTM is great fun!! And in fact every Civ4 game that I've played has been great! Theres so many cool events and interesting build strategies, that I find myself on the edge of my seat quite frequently. And warfare is outright hairy and scary at times. This first installment of the GOTM is no exception and I'm very glad to be playing it!

Now back for just a few more turns.. and then probably just a few more after that.. and then just a couple more....

Oh, I hear that on the combat front-White Elk ;). I want to say more in relation to this but-though YOU will know what I am probably talking about-I dare not risk giving too much away. Suffice it to say that it reveals a great deal about the danger of being TOO trusting ;)!

Yours,
Aussie_Lurker.

Important Note:

I've obviously been monitoring the submissions for this game closely, as we are in uncharted territory with new software and lots of new players. Well played everyone, and please can I ask those still to submit to assist me by noting the following issues that have come up:

1. You MUST submit a saved file from the turn AFTER your victory, not the turn during which you received the notification. The game status and victory score are not stored until you hit next turn, and so some saves are showing up as incomplete games with no victory bonus.

2. Some winning players are short changing themselves and quoting their score before the victory bonus is calculated.

These will cease to be concerns for me when we move to automated processing, as incomplete saves will be rejected during submission, and final scores will be extracted from the saves. But you will avoid the hassle of rejection in future if you work out what's required now, and for the time being I really need you to give me accurate score and date information so that I can verify our software before it goes live.

Thanks for listening :D

I had problems loading the GOTM save. Did the typical stuff - uninstalled blue marble, deleted certain directories, reinstalled, rebooted here and there. Nothing worked until I noticed the newest save game posted by the moderator. I think it could be useful to put that save game at the beginning of the thread ...

Sorry - I put it in this thread - but you make a good point. :)

Why is it a bit late? You will normally have one month to finish a game. You still have more than that for this one.
