Probably already posted, but; I want "palace" options and "trophies". Don't just give me one central structure, give me a choice of 4 or 5 graphics for each culture and each section of the palace - let me design my own palace, different from others. Give me options for exterior adornment. Let me choose whether I want a fountain and garden or trees or maze-hedge...

Also, trophies would be appreciated - items that comermorate my achievements - trophies taken from the ruined cities of defeated opponents, from burned out minor villages, etc.

Eye candy i see, i would rather they spend time on stuff that matters, if they even include a palace, they should just use the civ3 one

"Eye candy" can make or break a game as well (albeit not as much as gameplay but it is something that makes the game unique). If they wanted to the game could be made text based (would you still play it if that were the case?). Just food for thought, not taking a side on this one.

Hmmm, a trophy representing any civ you have wiped out isn't a bad idea. Could be nothing more than a signpost in front of the palace showing the civ's name and best unit they had at the time they were destroyed.

A little grusome...anyway...

If you conquer a rival's empire you could get a monument such as a triumphant arch or a statue or something in your capital to remember the event, or something like that

Hehe, what are games if not "Eye Candy for the Mind". They're all about catching and holding your attention with what attracts the eye and challenges the mind.

For me its about rewards - I want my Hall of Fame giving a permanent record, I want my palace showing my achievements, and I would love to get a trophy room of some sort (Custom Scenarios are completely broken for me with Conquests disabling of City View and Palace View - not even worth playing - the the HOF is completely fubar too, a complete turn off countering all the positive improvements).

though i dont really care about the palace i would love this have a line of spikes with heads on it in front of the palace with a little monument under saying when and how they were defeated and a little blood gush out the bottom

Could even throw in the whole custscene of a leader's beheading (cuting away at the appropriate moment, of course) for the most gruesome of us.

Maybe there should be a crown as well. So you start off with a leather cap and go all the way to diamonds galore.

Hehe - bit much, but it might be a good alternative. One item to build as your progress - palace/throne room/crown, and one to recognize you achievements - trophy room/triumphal architecture in the cap/heads on pike...

Usually I'd rather spend the time and memory space for other things, but note that I said usually.

Some of these are not actually bad ideas.

I like the idea of leaderheads on pikes. It's a great idea. Below it it would have a banner od some sort saying what year they were defeated and what age they were in.

There's another idea, semi-related to this, that I've had for a while now. It's a recorded history of a civilization, a city, and the entire world. Like, if you right-clicked a civilization, then you could bring up a timeline of it's existence. The same could be true of a city and for the entire world, marking important events in all of their existences. Also semi-related, you could name major features (like the Great Plains or the Black Forest or the Rocky Mountains or whatever) and this would correspond to the historyof the civilization (founded on the banks of the Mississippi River or whatever). Anyway, this was kind of off topic, but still, semi-related, and interesting. It would be an interesting read to see the rise and fall of a great civilization. This wouldn't take a lot of time or memory space to implement and would be an interesting addition.

I remeber something like this a while ago but i wish you could name mountians and what not and have an option to have it lightly written over the area on the main screen, think about telling others about the game with screens showing troops moving across a bridge (i assume you guys have read the thread on this bridge idea) attacking your enemy and the river would have a small name running near it

would be a nice image to see ur flag hangin down off an enemy civ's ruined palace when u take their captial :D would send out a powerful message to the rest of the world...

Great freaking idea! I love it, since symbols are one of the most important parts of history. On that angle, I really think they should incorporate a civ-specific flag, maybe even one you could customize over time, for units, cities, ships, and buildings. Also, for the palace, you should have a tapestry that has some of your great achievements painted on it(great battles for GL, wonders, etc.). This would be an awesome feature for comparing games against other ppl, if done right.

I would like the trophies but unforunatly the leaderheads on pikes might make the game T or M and turn off some interest in the game by some people.
