Civ 4 Patching and Multiplayer Issues

I am having 2 problems with my Civ. Now first off I'd like to mention that I do run on a mac, I dunno if that changes anything but I have a MacBook.

Now my first problem is I started playing this game because of friends, so of course I'd like to play with them, but when I go into multiplayer options, there isn't even an option to hit "Internet Games" which I'm told by my friends is the button I'm supposed to hit to play with them.

Also, what I do is I would install "Patch_174" and than the game would restart, than it prompts me to install the exact same Patch again! What the heck is going on?

you probably will get more competent answers in the civ4 - mac section of this forum, but where did you get the patch from? also with the pc version the 1.74 patch often gives problems when patching a version that does not have the previous patch installed, what did you do when patching?

I dl the patch from trying to get into maybe a lan game and the patch starts installing automatically. Thank you for replying

so just to make sure I get it right:
You started the patching ingame - then the patch installer started automatically and patched. Now when you start a game it tries to patch again?

That is correct, kinda stupid that i couldn't just post saying correct and i have to type at least 10 words

I am sure this is not the intended behavior even of the Mac patch - but since I don't have that version I am at a loss as how to change it. I would probably just uninstall and reinstall. But you should probably just repost your problem here there are much more Mac users around there then here and someone might be able to help a bit better

PS: I have tried reinstalling... twice
