Please go back to 2D! ;)

Are we certain that this isn't a rumor? I don't know anything about gamespot, but... you can't exactly believe everything you hear on the internet!:crazyeye:

As it turns out, the time in question was this week. Buried in yesterday's Take-Two earnings report was news that yes, a new Civilization game is planned. The report did not specify whether or not said game would be the inevitable Civilization V or a spin-off like CivCity: Rome. The prospects of a console or portable Civilization title have also been rumored.

This doesn't mean Civ V by any stretch of the imagination.

Hopefully it won't be Civ5, since a full game developed in such a short period of time is guaranteed to turn out crap.

It's probably a Civ4 expansion.

And yes, go back to 2D for God's sake!

Yes return to 2D please. Hope its a new game mybe its CIv5 on a console before computer this time. They did sink tons into that market and nervous execs might want a flagship name supporting their console line. Flagships are sometimes built at greater cost so staff budjets might have been raised substantialy to produce it

I heard the programers quote in regard to wanting a consistant, level playing feild to design with and the attraction to the console in this area. That was after the Civ4 complaints were becoming intollerable however.

I really hope that this is a new expansion because having CIV5 in a so short time would be really a bad sign considering that Firaxis is now part of Take2, and civilization games were released every 4-5 years; changing this policy IMO means that Civilization series will be turned in something which will not match past quality

Love 3d. The zoom out function is the of the best things that's happened to civ. Hope the C&C3 developers understand that.

Hm. I would argue that if it is Civ V, it's not guaranteed to be crap. It could well be a back-burner, lets-think-of-this-carefully-before-we-release-it type of thing. They can do that, you know.

No way is it going to be Civ5, I think the website was too quick to take that unjustifiable statement into a certain announcement. Civ V shouldn't come before 2-3 years minimum.

If it turned out that Firaxis/Take2 are actually going to release Civ5 within the next year or so I think the Civilization franchise will lose its feeling big time. One of the greatest aspects of being involved in the game is the fact that you'll have to wait for the next Civ for a while, I think that by making it a 1-2 years occasional release it'd become just like any other game out there in the market.

Civ4 still has a lot of potential, it wouldn't be smart of the company to move straight away with Civ5 without atleast releasing 1 expansion after Warlords.

As many member have said, this could very well be a rumour.
All Hail Civ4: <expansion>. :run:

Judging by the way the demo lets you scroll out to a whopping 3 feet away, I doubt it.
