Civ 5: Civilizations/Leaders Wanted!

I've suggest before that they should have a unique building and unique improvement, but no unique unit. For starters, the best choice (Merchantman) is very underwhelming. Second, it would be very different. The ideas would be a Dike for a building (replace seaport) and Windmollen as an improvement.

My suggestion for an ability was:
East India Company - Free harbor in all cities founded on the coast. Double gold received when first meeting new city-states.
Of course, this was better back when you got the production bonus for ships, but I think its passable.

not having a unit would definitely be different, but it sounds kind of underwhelming for me. i realize it's good for a peaceful strategy, but it seems like something that would only work on paper.

Chola:
Capital: Tanjavur
Leader: Rajaraja Chola
UA: Temple builders: Build cultural buildings 50% faster. Cultural buildings are 50% cheaper.

or

UA: Unamed(something to do with islands): Cities built on islands 9 tiles or less have no :c5unhappy:

UB: Unamed: (replaces temple): 6 :c5culture: , 1 :c5culture: for every 5 :c5citizen: , 1 :c5culture: for every marble and stone

I think all civs should be represented at their golden age.
That was the 17th century for the Dutch.
The Infantry wasn't from that time period.

i think you're getting a little too hung up on the name of the unit. for example, it's kind of like how mohawk warriors don't replace warriors and norwegian ski infantry don't replace infantry.
that being said, it's probably not a very good unit anyway because there are already european replacements for all of the renaissance foot units.

@shanjahanii yes the explanation on maurits was for his infantry because you said they weren't 17th century and i didnt understand you made the remark based on the word infantry.

My bad, I misunderstood the wording of your post.
I don't know all that much about Dutch history...

Now that Korea is released as DLC, we have 7 released DLC civs:Babylonia,Mongolia,Spain,Inca,Polynesia and Korea.
What will be the next DLC civ?I think that these shall not be included in a DLC.
  • Civilizations that had little or no historical significance:Tupi,Kazakhstan,Ireland,Arawak
  • Modern Nations: Canada,Australia,Brazil,Mexico,
  • Civilizations that are part of a country or occupied the same space already: Mughal and India,Byzantines and Ottomans,Mali and Songhai
  • Civilizations where little people known of:Benin,Anishabek,Zapotec
I think these will these might have a chance of being included in a DLC.
  • The Maya"s
  • Netherlands
  • Carthage/Phoenicia
  • Indonesia/Sriwijaya/Majapahit
  • Portugal
  • Vietnam(Hanoi removed as City state)
  • Ethiopia
  • Khmer(altough they are really close to Siam)
  • another African civ:Kingdom of Kongo,Zulu...
  • The Celts
And these leader can be added for the above Civilizations
  • The Maya's: Pacal II
  • Netherlands:Willem van Oranje
  • Carthage/Phoenicia:Hannibal for Carthage or Hiram I for Phoenicia
  • Indonesia/Srivijaya/Majapahit:Samaratungga,Gajah Mada
  • Portugal: Joao II(please no Henry the Navigator he was NOT a leader)
  • Vietnam:Trung Sisters or Le Loi
  • Ethiopia:Menelik II
  • Khmer:Suryavarman II or Jayavarman VII
  • Kingdom of Kongo:Nzinga a Nkuwu or Ana Nzinga/Zulu:Shaka
  • The Celts:Boudica or Brennus or Vercingetorix
What do you think? Post your speculations here!:D

I looked at areas they haven't really touched. Africa/the Middle East and the Americas are the two biggest. Looking at likely play styles, I think a builder would make sense.

My thoughts are these:

Carthage
Mayans
Celts
Ethiopia
Netherlands

If I had a commonly used Civ that I would probably give up to make room for a new one, it would be Portugal (which would blend too close with the Dutch and Spanish). Sumeria is a possibility, but I think it's less likely now that they didn't include them with the Wonders. I could make an argument for Byzantium. For new civs, I'd like to see Indoneisa (Majahapit).

Civilizations that had little or no historical significance:Tupi,Kazakhstan,Ireland,Arawak

I know what you mean but I would say Ireland are probably one of the most cultural nations per size and there are influential descendents of them all over the western world. Clinton, Kennedy, Lennon, McCartney, etc. if Denmark are in Ireland could be, but I think they might be better fitted in under the Celts umbrella.

My fave now would be Ethiopia but I also like all those listed above.

I can't think of many Civs previously picked with little or no historical significance. The Zulu and Sioux are the closest I can think of, but I've been told I've been wrong about the Zulu. Those are, at best, city-states.

They've been pretty good so far. Obviously, they don't pick anything obscure, but they're all famous for their accomplishments.

Where's the German guy?
We all know he already knows...
Tell us, is it an African one?

I'd love to see the Magyars, Goths, Huns or another "barbarian" type of civ.
It would also be cool to have another native-style civ.

Zulu has been a long time coming. Carthage/Belgium would also be cool.

looking at the trends so far, i think that it'll probably be either carthage, ethiopia, zulu or maya, since africa and north america haven't gotten any dlcs yet. even if you count the middle east (for babylon) in with africa and south america (for inca) in with north america, they're still both due for another.
if i were a betting man, my money would be on carthage.

and, uh,
I think that these shall not be included in a DLC.
...
[*]Civilizations that are part of a country or occupied the same space already: Mughal and India,Byzantines and Ottomans,Mali and Songhai
you included italy, byzantium and the holy roman empire, which all fit under this category.

I hope for Netherlands. Perhaps a UB and UI and the first civ with no UU?

That would be awesome and finally give something to the less war-oriented player like me. DLC has good potential to offer players diversity, sadly the developers haven't really picked up on this yet.
