I vote for Uighur_Caesar.

Tie broken.

Though, the voting time should've been shorter.

Sorry guys that's all my fault. Went in the sea with my phone on literally the first day of my holiday so couldn't have posted even if I wanted to. I'm back now though so I would like to extend my apologies to everyone and my congratulations to our winner, Uighur Caesar with this awesome design for the Varangians.

The Varangian Khaganate

Leader: Rurik

UA: Invitation to Rule
Cities adjacent to rivers are instantly :c5trade: connected to the :c5capital: Capital and have 25% more :trade: trade range. Cities have a random chance of spawning melee units depending on the number of :trade: trade routes to and from this city.

UU: Kol-Beki (Replaces Swordsman)
Does not require iron. +1 :c5moves: movement when starting a turn adjacent to a river, has no attack penalty when fighting across one and ignores river crossing penalties. Cities captured by a Kol-Beki get a free Caravan (once per city) even if you are at your :trade: trade limit.

UU: Companion (Replaces Pikeman)
Not only is the Companion slightly :c5strength: stronger than the pikeman it replaces, but Companions also gain +3 :c5war: XP when gifted for every :trade: trade route with that civ. Gifted Companions give you +1 :c5gold: Gold for every level they are and give you :c5culture: Culture from kills.

The next civ will be announced today and is East Asian.

(Please be Indonesian...)

Oh my god that's embarrassing. I was like 100% sure I'd posted this, wrote it out and everything and was actually a little sad that no-one had replied or anything, then I check back today and realise I never posted it. I'm so useless sometimes. Anyway...

650 - 1377 AD

Indonesia has had a fractious and confusing history in which faiths seem to change as quickly as dynasties and fortunes wax and wane with the moons as much as any geopolitical event. No Indonesian Empire exemplifies this game of spiritual and political chaos more than Srivijaya. The great empire, like many of the greatest, has rather humble origins as a tiny city state in southern Sumatra. Established some time in the late 6th century, the city was born into a period of strong Hindu influence on the archipelago. Huge Hindu temple complexes, perhaps the largest on earth at the time, were constructed across the many islands of Indonesia; meanwhile traders and sailors from the subcontinent descended in huge numbers, bringing with them both great wealth and their ancient customs. However, India, like Indonesia, was a place of many faiths and another great faith was making its mark on the region.

Srivijaya was staunchly Buddhist. Under her patronage the religion would expand throughout Indonesia and some of the most fantastic works of Buddhist art and architecture date from this period; perhaps most famously, the temple of Borobodur. Despite their devotion, the Srivijayans were far more devoted to another great power which may seem more relateable today: cash. The entire Empire of Srivijaya was built upon a seemingly endless amount of cargo ships which dashed between the various islands of Nusantara bringing fabulous wealth back to the capital. In a way no predecessor had been able to, the Srivijayans were able to contact all corners of the far flung islands of Western Indonesia from Borneo to the Malay peninsula, and even exercising a healthy degree of control in southern Indochina, dominating southern Thailand and controlling the vast majority of trade even there for quite some time - Indeed, the Khmer Empire was briefly tributary to the Srivijayans, though of course at the time the Khmer were yet to reach their later strength. Majaphit, Singhasari, Melayu - one by one dozens of the regional powers in Indonesia fell to Srivijaya until her power was unchallenged, allowing her to send settlers and ships and far west as Madagascar (To this day, Madagascan is heavily based on the Austronesian languages spoken across Indonesia.) and as far east as the Philippines.

Incredible traders, the unifiers of a continent and pious Buddhists who built some of the greatest architectural marvels of their age. Truly the legacy of Srivijaya is as great as their opulence - like the empires that predated and succeeded them, Srivijaya played an important role in the development of the idea of a united Indonesia - of one people across a thousand islands destined to rule the waves together (or at the very least under the iron thumb of one particularly gifted island.) an idea which has stood the test of time for sure.

Religious traders to the max this time guys! Indonesia with a buddhist twist and one of the wealthiest dynasties of all time, what more do you want? Can't wait to see what you all do with it.

The Empire of Srivijaya

Leader: Dapunta Hyang Sri Jayanasa

UA: The Coast of Gold
Gain a free :trade: Trade Route slot for every conquered :c5capital: Capital :c5trade: connected to your own :c5capital: Capital. Religious Pressure is increased by +5% in the :c5capital: Capital for every Naval :trade: Trade Route you have.

UU: Cadik
Cargo Ship replacement. Travels twice as fast on Coast Tiles.

UB: Venuvana
Temple replacement. +50% Religious Pressure and +2 :c5gold: Gold from Naval :trade: Trade Routes from this city.

I actually attempted to make this look good for once.

This is gonna be so easy!!!
(Can you link to my Indonesia split I forgot where it is )

GPuzzle, your design is beautiful. But it doesn't make it any better...(or worse).
Thanks NiaoMeow!!! Means a lot. :)
(Do you mind me calling you ROCball? :D)

My turn!

The Srivijayan Empire(Samaratungga)

UA: A Coast between the Oceans
Cities founded on other continents start as puppets and proivde you a unique Indonesian luxury*. :trade: Trade routes passing in your territory will increase pressure for your religion in the target city and grant you :c5gold: gold and :c5faith: faith equal to the part of the delta you don't receive when they pass in your territory.

UB: Candi
Replaces Garden. Does not require a source of fresh water, but increases GP generation by a lower percentage(+20% :c5greatperson:). Additionally yields +1 :c5culture: culture(doubled in coastal cities) and +1 :c5faith: faith, as well as +1 :c5faith: faith per each incoming :trade: trade route empire- wide(both internal and external).

UU: Borobudur Ship
A weaker, earlier exploration- oriented version of the caraval, coming at theology, and has a lower production cost while being weaker(15 :c5strength:) and faster. However, the Borobudur ship grants embarked units stacked with it the same amount of moves it starts the turn with, and grants +1 :c5moves: moves if stacked with a civilian.

*Indonesian luxury: Maluku spices, pepper or nutmeg. Each source counts towards resource diversity for all trade routes passing in your territory.
** to clarify: delta is the total amount of gold both sides receive from the trade route, therefore the UA grants gold and faith equal to the amount any other civilizations receive from trade routes passing through your territory, while the cargo ship\ caravan is in it(your territory).

Thanks NiaoMeow!!! Means a lot. :)
(Do you mind me calling you ROCball? :D)

Of course! I want freedom but not independence!

*Indonesian luxury: Maluku spices, paper or nutmeg.

I really like your design even though it is kind of overpowered (just how I like it :p).

Also, could we have a special round where the designs must be in the style of Firaxis; the components must not be synergistic at all (looking at you Ramakhangadingdongtrollface)?

Lol and Illogical like Narsuaen's(oops!) Elephant for Ramkhameng...

Srivijayan Empire

Leader: Dharanidra

UA: Thalassocracy: Can send :trade: Naval trade routes to any city following your religion. :trade: Naval trade routes provide extra :c5gold: Gold based on the distance between cities.

UU: Borobudur Ship: Replaces Caravel. Comes earlier at Compass but can still travel through ocean tiles. Can spread your religion twice.

UB: Stupa: Replaces Temple. Has a Monk specialist slot (same as P&S's monk). Has an :greatwork: Art or Artifact slot that gives +2 :c5gold: Gold and +1 :c5faith: Faith when filled. Specialists in this city increase religious pressure by 10%.

Alright so the UA represents Srivijaya's importance in spreading Buddhism throughout Asia and it's trading power. The UU allows you to explore earlier and spread your religion quicker, letting you trade immediately with faraway cities to get the most out of your UA. Stupa's are places of meditation for Buddhists and has a "treasury" filled with artifacts that are used as offerings.

Empire of Srivijaya
Dapunta Hyanga
UA: Siddahaytra Inscriptions
Upon founding your first City receive a free Prajurit and a :trade: Trade Route toward the nearest City-State, Upon capturing a foreign :c5capital: Capital or City-State receive a free Cargo Ship in the nearest Coastal City.
UU: Prajurit (Scout)
More expensive yet much stronger than the Unit it replaces, it begins with the Embarkation Promotion and has a 50% chance to gain an additional :c5strength: Combat Point from defeating a Unit.
UU: Samudra Raksa (Caravan)
Much more cheaper and more weaker than the Unit it replaces, it starts off with Boarding Party I and II, Available at Civil Service instead of Astronomy
Pure War, No Regrets
