Is this the reasons why Khmer is Age 1 civ (The oldest known 'evidence of settlement' is dated back to 200 BC) ? did Mahidharapura Kingdoms of present day Ihsaan region of modern Thailand actually 'part of Old Khmer'? or another in game representation? (Jayavarman VII, playable King of Khmer in Civ6 began as King of Vimayapur, whic the site is now called Phimai, and also part of modern urban area of the same District.)
Since Stone Prasats (ones that built upon the hills (Phanom Rung "พนมรุ้ง"), and also those built atop Phnom Dong Rek Range (เทือกเขาพนมดงรัก), are all built with access stairways (and entries) face northwards. It is likely that the original seat of Khmer Empire was in what's now South Ihsaan Region of Thailand. Before shifted to lower plains that's now Cambodia later on (When Angkor Wat began being built, the Angkor Wat itself however is finished in Lovek era)
