I voted for Elohim too even tho Im still in my first game. Tolerant trait should be just perfect for beginners!

Thanks PPQ_Purple and Psychodad!

Yeah, cultural victory is too easy atm, and culture is too powerful and too easy to get. I think we need to discuss balance between commerce types (gold, science, culture, faith, spell research and mana).

I have shared my thought in the general thread, looking forward to reading feedbacks from you and other players!
Culture victory is OP in vanilla BTS as well. There have been plenty of times where I have accidentally stumbled into it, even on higher difficulties. It's just one of those things you don't have to work for. You just have to want to make big rich cities which you already have to do in order to get anywhere in the game. I eventually decided to turn it off entirely in all my games because of this.

If it were me, I'd scrap it altogether and go for something different entirely. Although there are already plenty of ways to win the game without it.

I played a bunch of MoM (but only recently found XTended version, looks interesting)
I am mostly for Aos Si, they have the most unique feeling to them imho, the court mechanics, awesome music and fees what else do we need :D i played mostly them in MoM.
The other races i would consider (mostly for unique mechanics in game):
Jotnar, Luchuirp (the fact that they have a somewhat normal tech tree is a plus*) and the Clan.
*: my bigest complaint about the techtree being that it is too linear (for military), as their golems tend to be a bit everywhere in the civil tech tree i like that better.

The civs I tend to play most are

Dural, Hippus, Amurites , Svatalfar, Sheaim and Illians. (Voted for Hippus as Dural was not on list)

Also sometimes

Elohim, Calabim, Austin, Scions, Austrin.

Generally ignore the rest, although might try out Luchurp again sometime.

This is mainly from MoM, I have not tried XMOM much so might change opinion.

Aos Si almost exclusively. Usually with a builder or a trade related leader. Surprisingly.
Economically its hard to surpass them, provided you know what you're doing .
On that note, I never found a use for Winter Court, unless I'm at war, thus making it irritating for me to get the 150-450 turns needed to get the Epic Destiny.

I also like Aristrakh but with rostering, my enjoyment of them has dropped.

I also like Aristrakh but with rostering, my enjoyment of them has dropped.

Care to elaborate why you don't like the new Aristarkh? I tried to maintain their unique flavour as best as I could when adopting the roster mechanic for them. If you could tell me why, maybe I can improve them?

Its difficult to really put a finger on it, its just diminished... though even without the changes, it was Very hard to get their ball rolling and the AI is almost 100% incapable of doing so. They need to be far more aggressive towards the barbarians surrounding their cities.
Its far easier to get a strong nation with all the 'living' civilizations than it is with the non ( scions included )

Hm, I suspect this is because the Aristarkh and the Scion start at hell plane? Eventhough they are undead, they still need live resources to improve their economy. I have changed the hell plane to include more plains and less hell terrains but still it is hard to start there. But CarnivalBizarre is working on terrains now, hopefully we can rework the terrains and starting locations.

- I voted Aristarkh because I love this true vampiric necromancers kingdom as a fantasy idea, and I love much more the tentative to differentiate each civilization by the gameplay.

- What I would like ? More work on Aristarkh (new units, new buildings, new features !), no more aristarkh in the hell with Hyborem and the Scions close (it suck, and it is not fun in multi to begin in this world's end place).

And one day, a more balanced game for the multiplayer game (nerfed and automatised conjure matter spell each turn, with very few OSS, and me as an Aristarkh player in the game. ^^ (But I know it is out of the subjet :) )

It's great.

And you, do you think you may work especially on the Aristarkh or to the multi ?

CarnivalBizarre is playing the game in multiplayer, so we will do some multiplayer balance and stability along the way. Let us hope that this can reduce the amount of OOS.

Conjure Matter will not be automated, however, as I have explained for you before unless we manage to find better mechanic.

I honestly don't get the "feel" of the newer factions (Mazatl, Scion, Aristarkh...) thus I can't make future promises that I will work on them again.

You can just make a new thread on your idea for multiplayer balances/multiplayer stability here. We'll take a look at them, CarnivalBizarre is part of Xtended team now. Hopefully other players will chime in too.

After playing Aristrakh again, I realized why I dislike them.

for the most part the soul counter mechanism can be incredibly painful and if you don't have something that lets you rush with Stone ( or gold later on ), you are basically boned ( no pun intended ) on any new city being even remotely useful and it is INCREDIBLY difficult getting ANY science done early game, even with food resources ( and the tradeoff can make it very difficult to survive the early game as you have a significant lack of production ).

The soul mechanism can be Very difficult to play with, particularly early on if you don't get an early way to generate them ( see science, see lack of production ). And new cities can also be very difficult to raise as your main city is tends to Nom whatever souls you DO generate passively. Most civilizations will grow faster that the Aristrakh, easier, and leave them in the dust, with exponentially higher science and commerce, and in some cases production.
And since I play on Marathon, this only gets worse.

Introduction about the Aristarkh weakness :

- You have right Shoobs about the weakness of the Aristarkh. They are very weaks compared to the general level of the others civs, especially in research output. It's clear that you need to reach their special science district with Philosophy as fast as possible, it is the first district you should aim.

- I decided to post two topics to give suggestions about the Scions and the Aristarkh. It's better th do two distinct topics than to make a mix of discussion and suggestions in one only. I would have liked to have some data about all the MoM buildings, units and features, in the aim to propose the more precises suggestions that I can. But I have not, unless Evasth you can propose a link to a wiki or something like that.

- Here are the two lings of suggestions:

Scions: Link.
Aristarkh: (I'll think and write on them tommorow).

There is no wiki for Xtended, but I think the in-game pedia has covered all?

If you need to see a civ's special buildings or blocked buildings, just go to the civ's page in the pedia. You will find them there.

Of course, if anyone would like to make a wiki/documentation, I'd be thankful. It is just that we still in constant balancing action (both by adjusting existing buildings/units/techs or by adding new ones) thus the wiki/documentation will need constant update as well.

I am reading your Scion thread and waiting for your Aristarkh one, Jojo_Fr. No promises here, but if your and everyone's suggestions are interesting and we are capable of modding it, we'll love to include it in the next version :)

- Ok. I cannot do the wiki because my english is not good enough. The best wiki would be au automated generated wiki, who pump on the game, and automatically update the data according to the update.

But it is out of my skills. ^^

- Thank you to read it. :)
