CIV Gold!

Actually, if you just reskinned Stonewall's shirt to black, added some epaulettes and reskinned his beard I don't see how one could do much better than that. Just a comment... or perhaps I can do it...

If you can, great. The one I'm using right now is aq re-skinned Dom Pedro II from Ekmek. It's simple but the likeness is passable. Using Stonewall instead would add some variety, so I'm all for it. But I do want to get this wrapped up for uploading. I can make the edits you suggested and use that instead of the Pedro I'm using now.

And also, no offense to the Civ Gold guys, but if the last few editions of this mod are any indication the likeness of the leaders doesn't seem to be one of their highest priorities.

Well...of course it's offensive. You have to understand that when Gold started, no one was making new models - everything was simple re-skins and some models had a few new additions - a hat, a badge, things like that. It wasn't until C. Roland started tinkering around that we saw new models, but that was quite some time after version 2.0 (and 60 some odd LHs already done).

Now, you have Ekmek, cfkane, dutchking, NikNaks, and you doing great work, but it takes a while to catch up on all the old content.

Bernie14's Trudeau, Welesa, Mandela, Williams and Patterson were all made for Gold and, IMO, are still some of the best out there.

In 5.0 we are replacing over 20 existing leaderheads in an attempt to bridge that gap. I can only add what's available, though. I can put some things together here or there, but when you see teams of 5-6 guys combining on a Hitler or an Alexander, then you know that one guy isn't going to be able to make 60-70 high quality leaderheads on his own. :)

So it's not a case of priorities, but one of practicality. And 5.0 will be a giant lead from 4.0 in that regard.

 Fritkot - funny! Belgian frites (pommes frites/"French fries") are the best in the world.

At first I thought it was more of a joke from pay-t's old civ. But in doing the research I had to agree that it's an apt choice for Belgium. So there you go.

Well...of course it's offensive.

I don't see why it's offensive, obviously you prioritized having the civ in regardless of the art's quality. It isn't meant to be a slight against you, its just a simple fact that your priority wasn't the quality of leaderhead it was the civ. Clearly with a mod this big you can't be expected to provide art for every civ and unit, so you had to make certain decisions. There's nothing wrong with this, its just a fact.

Damn, I just got inspired to write a few in-game text for Leopold...

I'm saying that tongue-in-cheek. I know you didn't mean it as a slight. I'm just taking the opportunity to explain why the LHs were a bit rough. As the mod progress, I've been able to replace many of the LHs with better models that come out.

Most of the rough work was 1) version 1.0 heads that have nevered been replaced, 2) "filler" LHs done by yours truly (i.e. someone does a civ with a static LH, and I do one up quickly to fill the gap).

But I'm happy to say that - in 5.0 - a lot of that is cleaned up, thanks to Ekmek, The Coyote and you, etc. Not all of them, mind you, but a good chunk.

Understood. You should know though, that in a very big way this mod inspired me to begin modding and any LH that I have created has a little piece of CivGold in it, or at least had it in mind. Monkgut is a shining example; if not for this mod I probably would never have created him and I hope that you are using my Monkgut in 5.0.

EDIT: Actually as an LH maker I hope you intend on posting all of the Leaders for Civ Gold, I always liked when you did that and I love to see which LHs "made the cut."

+1!
I love those CivGold LH galleries!

Quick update: I had to remove the 4 civs I added last night. I'm getting an odd DLL error (although the mod does not touch any DLL files) and I don't have enough time to troubleshoot.

So 5.0 will go up without Kazkh, Uzbek, Moche and Georgian Empire, and I'll correct that for version 5.1 as soon as I can. Otherwise, everything gets held up.

Update 2: The Moche, Georgian and Uzbek civs are working. Need to finish looking at the Kazakh civ, but that might be where the problem lies.

Fierabras is uploading the installer. I'll try to get that sorted tonight if it's ready. There is no delay - just takes a long, long time to compile and upload (500 MB).

As for the 4 civs, I'll probably do a patch in the short-term and recompile in the longer term.

Who's the Moche leader? The Lord of Sipán?
