CIV Gold!

I'm preparing the button/flag rehaul as it is.

Thank you foir putting this mod toigether. When i get it to work it is amazing. For some reason the mod is very unstable and only loads a small percentage of the time, and is prone to crashing weven when it starts. Maybe it is my machine but i never had any trouble with civ gold 4.0. Perhaps I am runnning on an old patch? Anyone else have this problem?

Absinthered,

I'll go over the list over the coming weeks and see what can be done in small patches.

mamba,

Let me play around with the packing. I agree 100% that the mod would be improved with a faster load.

Thx Wyz, I really appreciate it.

My goal was to have a FULL list of LHs not used in CIV Gold already, i hope it will be useful for the upcoming versions.
Anyway this list is for you in the first place, because it do not include the LHs already used in Gold. So it can be used by just the civfans who know your mod really well :)
I may update the sections too if there are some new LHs ready or left out.
Just pls keep in mind, that the first section is for LH changes, the second is for add LHs as another one, and i suggested the 3rd and 4th part as adding LHs not in Gold yet (the 5th and 6th are mainly for the record).
It would be awesome if many of these LHs in the first 4 parts would make it to your CIV Gold ;)

Keep up the good work, and best regards: AbsintheRed

For the most part all of the LHs I have made are available in the database. The ones advertised in my gallery are all there, the only ones that I either slightly modified or modified from someone else's work (so I didn't take credit for it) are Peron (I added an emblem to his sash), San Martin (same thing), and Collins (I used a reskinned/remodelled Jack Ryan with C. Roland's Colins' attire) which are only available in the module packs. I am relatively sure the Americas works, the others I am updating so I haven't reuploaded them. Solomon and the Pharaoh are going to be redone as well.

With all respect, I'm not so sure about that :)

I just managed to see the little pictures attached to the dl (at least yet), but i see other improvements for Gold leaders there.
The Collins LH (Irish, top left corner) is better, now I agree with MadmanOfALeader on that.
The Arpad LH (Magyar, top left corner) is way better too, because its not too colorful as the one in the current Gold version. Stephen I (Magyar, bottom right corner) also looks better.
There is the Sunni Ali LH (Songhai, bottom right corner), which must be fantastic if it looks as good animated as in this picture.
The Minoan Satur (bottom left corner) looks good too, altough there is another fine Satur on Gold already. I have to check on this.

You may not made or modified all the LHs, but it is a great collection, and there may be many other LHs in there which i did not see yet ;)

Edit: I just found out that Sunni is in Gold as a Mande leader. Sry for that

Anyone else get a bunch of "the info in LEADER_x" errors when they start a new game? It starts with Mikheil, and lasts about 20 or so popups.
The game loads correctly after that, it's just irritating to click through those while the new game loads.
I do mean when starts up a single player game, not when starting up Civ4. Like, where if you were playing classic Civ4 you'd be hearing Leonard Nimoy tell you about the creation of the earth.
It stops after the first time I get it.

Also, all of the greeting text seem to be broken. I get some code for a different leader, same leader each time. Begins with an A. Even the base game leaders like Washington.
Scratch that, Sitting Bull just gave me Tamerlane's code.

What version are you running of BtS? The mod is huge - much, much bigger than 4.0. It's possible that it's a question of memory. I can't say I've heard of in-game crashes before.

Do you have anything else in Custom Assets or anything like that?

Just to be sure - you start a new game, say, with Australia. And when the game starts, then you get the errors?

Does it happen when you start a Quick Play, Custom or both? I haven't seen this error, either. I'll try starting a couple of games in different ways and see what I get.

Also, are you running 3.17 or 3.19?

So when you meet Washingting, instead of his Firaxis greeting you get some other First Contract quote?

That sometimes happens if there is an invalid entry in the Diplomacy XML file. I'll recheck it.

I guess you are right, there are more LHs out in my modules than I thought there were. Well I am a bit of a leaderhead-snob (being an LH maker and all), so if I have a problem with an LH, even if it is relatively insignificant, I won't include it. I actually tried to reupload my mod today but it takes three hours and the first time I tried something screwed up, so when I get back tomorrow (and have some time) I'll try to start uploading that stuff again, then all of the LHs will be available.

That's the reason so many people like your LHs, so actually I am real glad u r a snob ;)
For the reupload: whenever you have a little time it will be perfect. Just pm me after pls. And thanks again.

I apologise up front because I am not tech savvy...

I am looking for a way to include specific civilizations I have found in other downloads into this mod. I downloaded the previous version of Civ Gold and was amazed with all the additional civilizations. But I found a couple of issues...

For some of the new leader heads (i.e. Alfonso of Portugal, Franco of Spain, Cleopatra of Egypt), there was no background music during diplomacy, was this intentional?

Secondly, and most importantly (to me): I was wondering if it is possible to add civilizations from previous downloads into this mod? If not, is there a way one of your excellent team members can create the civilizations? I am desperately look for the following civs: Iceland, Estonia & Confederacy (CSA).

Thanks again for all your hard word with this mod :goodjob:

Is there a non-atomicgamer download? AtomicGamer crashes my British computer, and that is the only one I will have for a long, long time.

I've said this before, but if you simply add the custom civilizations folder into your regular assets folder, than the mod will load quickly.

Hi there,

Thanks for the comments. I'll look at the music issue for the leaders you mentioned. Usually I use a comparable leader leader (civ and/or time period) for the music. It's possible that I forgot to edit the music when reviewing the XML.

Adding civs - this is a bit more tricky but if you look through an existing civ folder you can see the "parts" that are required.

Adding a new civ means creating a new folder (e.g. "Estonia") and making sure all the parts are there.

I'm not plan on adding any civs *right now*. Maybe in the near future I'll do a couple new ones.

Not at the moment, but Ekmek suggested an alternative to me that I haven't yet looked into.

Found the XML issue.

Note the \ instead of a /. This popup shows for just about every leader in-game when I start a game with random players.

I'll take a look through the XML. It may be that there is an errant line or something "shifting" everything down a line or something.

Don't worry about the slash - it's not related.

I was having that problem during testing with one leader, but I fixed that. Apparently others sprang up.

Are you running 3.17 or 3.19, and are you using any other modified files?

3.17, and nothing has been changed.

i hate that slash rule I always do a replace all to make them the same)

Okay, I'll start to look through the Diplomacy file.

I had a major FU to the mod. I made about 20 changes that weren't committed to the build. When I realized that (after the first release) I did a full replace from my working copy to ensure all changes carried over. But...there were a couple of errors in that copy, as well.

Hi Wyz!

I was peeking thru the CivFanatics window today & thought I would say a brief hello. And before anyone asks, I'm just looking around and saying hi. I really don't think I have the time anymore to do any Civ4 modding, although I do think about it occasionally. It was enjoyable at the time.

It looks as if Civ Gold has progressed quite far. I'm glad I was able to help out in it's early days, it was a pleasure to do so as you were always polite & helpful in return. Thanks for that.

I hope you and your family are doing well. Perhaps I will stop by again sometime soon... Amra
