Civ IV to ship before Halloween!?!

I am going to wait untill the bugs are kinked out and that it is going to be stable on a computer close to my specs.

Soren,

Sorry for all the negative response you guys have been gettin on this site, but I think I speak for everyone in saying that we are all excited even though some have doubts......We trust and know if there are any bugs you guys will release some patches to fix them.......So keep up the good work

What everyone seems to be forgetting is that they didn't move up any of their other games. The Warriors and the GTA game for the PSP still have the original release date. They even delayed the game bully. I would think if they were rushing Civ IV, they would also rush their other games.

The bottom line is I doubt they'll release a bad game or a game filled with bugs. I mean, they did pay 28 million or so for the rights to the franchise (not counting the money to actually develop Civ IV). This publisher is loads better then Atari. I mean, Take Two actually makes good games (or uh... publish good games?), look at how much GTA: SA was improved. They actually gave it attention at E3 too, what with the Civ annon videos and all. Who knows though, I could be wrong. We’ll see...

The normal Civ IV box looks a lot better then the special edition one

edit: and for those wondering, apparently this will be the normal box art.

Depends on if you're the type of guy who keeps the sleeves on their hardcover books or if you prefer the classic look of a library on your shelf.

I like the SE box... It's... Special! :goodjob:

Civilization IV Pre-Order Edition will feature: collector's packaging, a CD soundtrack of the game, a keyboard template, a tech tree map and a spiral bound version of the manual.

Surely you must be mistaken bt-oz?!?! If that is the case, then they are releasing it simultaneously in both the US AND Australia!!! Thats good and bad-good because I get it sooner, bad because it means I can't wait around for CFC and Apolytoners from the US to post what they think of the game first!! Don't know whether to hope you are wrong or right bt_oz!!

Yours,

May I volunteer in not agreeing with this most stupid statement?

I understand that certain people either have stopped or - more probable - have never started thinking, but crying out in excitement over the idea of becoming a post-release gamma-tester and to pay for it... well, the statement stands for itself....
How unCivil of you to make a statement like that!! That was totally uncalled for! I think you need to find a new forum, one that reflects your character (CivPessimist.com) this site is for Civ. Fans, Not Naysayers!!

Also please change your signature its obvious you don’t mean it!
Kind regards to any CivFanatic.
Although I have my personal opinion about this game and the things which could have been improved in the past or should be improved in the future, no posting of mine is meant as being a personal confrontation to anyone. It is just meant as being a statement of my personal opinion.

A fan doesn't blindly follow the series so that if it does things badly the devs will think they'll easily get away with it again bringing the quality of future games down because "fans" will just blindly buy it no matter what.

Sure, you can. Just leave the game on the shelves of your local gameshop for two months without buying it. A great exercise in self-restraint. Good luck! ;)

Fans won’t blindly buy games if they release one bad game in a series it kills the series, this has not happen in the Civ. series, so lets give them the developers the benefit of the doubt. If Civ4 is not up to par, so what I’ll be out $50, (big deal) I will just say goodbye to Civ. and say thanks for the memories! And I wouldn’t buy Civ5! (if there even would be one)
