Civ IV v Girlfriend IV

I think I'd choose my new girlfriend over Civ, as I'm looking to eventually settle down and have a family. However the nice thing is, she's already expressed interest in playing Civ IV with me... and it still isn't out! Oh yeah! She's a geek too, and Civ IV will be one of many ways she and I enjoy our time together. :)

I don't understand how people can be so geekish they choose civ over a GF and so "non geekish" they manage to get a GF. What's the secret??

True, but I dobut if Sid said "MINIONS! DESTROY VATICAN CITY!" that they would become suicide bombers and scream "IN THE NAME OF SID! PREPARE TO DIE INFIDELS!" and blow themselfs up. :p

Anyway, just saying that..well..yeah...

Ofcourse not. Do you have any idea how hard it is to play civ when you're dead? I don't and I don't intend to try to find out.

I certainly would not, I was raised a good Catholic boy, and I detest senseless violence. However on a more humerous note, can you imagine the culutural value in capturing it over destroying it? ;)

However if Sid said "MINIONS! ORGANIZE A CHARITY DRIVE FOR THE (natural disastor victims)" We'd all organize very quickly and do so. :) ;) We'd shout "IN THE NAME OF SID PREPARE TO BE CHARITABLE!"

Well, I doubt we'd become suicide bombers, but maybe geurillas in the name of Sid. If he played his card correctly, he could get a huge following from Final Fantasy to join in on the fun. :king: But lets not destroy it, I want everything in their Library!

This sounds like a moddability issue. If Girlfriend IV has trouble accepting your civ-playing, try e-mailing Snoopy and asking for a mod.:)

Just make sure this legal in your state/country of residence...

Hey I would either, play little to no civ to make way to girlfriend time or inroduce her to the game and play multiplaer together.

My husband was against my recent graphics card update cos he just knew I'd be civving all the time. I've tried to get him into it but all he wants to do is trample MAs over the French and blast off a load of nukes... sigh

He "has the emotional depth of a teaspoon" when it comes to Civ.
(1,000 points to anyone who guesses where that quote came from!)

Harry Potter ( or rather , Hermione Granger talking to Ronald Weasley about his lack of empathy ) ?

EDIT :

Damn ! Jameson beat me to it .

I won't make the mistake of playing all weekend while she cuts the grass, then cleans the house, then cooks dinner. If I spend Saturday with her and helping out, I can generally plant myself in front of the PC and play all day Sunday, and she will either go hang out with friends, or bring me drinks and snacks in between plays (she watches football).

Moderation is the key. An obsession is only a problem when it is not a healthy obsession.

Now wait, your wife doesn't mind that you play civ all day and watches football?!?! And then she brings you sustenance?! You are a lucky lucky man my friend. I can get away with civ, but the football is hard to pull off.

Anyone who would seriously take Civ, or any game for that matter, over there social life is an idiot.

Well, it depends what his or her social life was like before Civ. I have to tell you that some people's social lives are not worth leaving Civ for.

However will Civ IV be the nail in the coffin for girlfriend number 4, technically it shouldn't but these days I haven't got as much free time to play Civ IV due to work etc etc, so girlfriend time will definately be making way.

So what if it comes to an ultimatum?

Should I back my words with nuclear weapons or will I have to offer gold, probably per turn??

I bet gf 21 (or so) will even survive the coming of civ4. She even survived the arrival of civ3, so I guess civ4 won't be that much of a problem. But backing your words with nuclear weapons is always a wise decision.

She IS great, and I am definitely lucky.

Last night she was bring me sliced apples and cheese while I was playing another Sid game. On the weekends she will give me updates on scores and when animation domination is about to begin so I don't lose track. She told me a few minutes ago, "I've got class tonight so make sure to pull yourself away from the computer for dinner sometime." To top it off she let me know she has accepted that in November I'll bo goint to bead at 5:00 in the morning at least 2 times a week, and that I'll be bringing a laptop when we go out on Halloween, just-in-case. Yes she can cook, and makes a cheesecake that could kill most mortals.

I made sure to give her the best quality diamond I could afford when I offered it. I've been making payments on her 3 year anniversary gift for the last 3 months, and it's still 7 months away. She's totally worth it and more. :queen:

Have hope everybody, these elusive Civ Sirens ARE out there.

my first post but I'm here to stay gents/ladies...

3 previous Civs - 3 previous girlfriends!

A true but fairly unrelated fact for you fact fans.

However will Civ IV be the nail in the coffin for girlfriend number 4, technically it shouldn't but these days I haven't got as much free time to play Civ IV due to work etc etc, so girlfriend time will definately be making way.

Amen bro,

*starts rhyming*

The bizzles come, the bizzles go...
But Civ is tha shizzle, mah nizzle...
So Bye-Bye Hoez ... C:\LAWL:king:

-Dear god, did i just post that!?!?!?

This thread made me laugh so much that I just had to finally register and add this post (I've lurked for ages). Imagine my surprise when I discovered that my ID and email addy were already registered. Huh? NOBODY ever uses it except me. So I tried signing in. Wow! I registered. 2 yrs ago! Now THAT was funny. At least on this side of my PC. I do a lot of lurking but seldom take time to post. After all, time wasted typing inane messages like this one could be better spent playing civ. All of that to say....

I'll take ANY game over a gf, because I'm married and still believe in the ten commandments. My wife is very understanding, allowing me to spend countless hrs civving, and will even bring dinner to me on occasions when I let the game get the better of me. Besides, she can't complain too loud because...

She turned me onto the game! :rotfl:

Edit: 100 posts..yay?
What an intelligent post! :shakehead

My husband and I have the perfect solution - 2 computers, 2 copies of the game = the quiet life for both of us. Now we just have to figure out the right ratio for calling in sick and playing all day vs. going to work and thinking about playing all day!
:mischief:

No, we'd have to raze it, because otherwise it'd just culture flip back.

Hermione said that. What can I use my points on? Perhaps Cookies?

Man, you had a girlfriend during CIV I times, and you still don't have grandchildren? :) You should certainly marry your current girlfriend to make sure someone takes care of you when you're too old to move around! In the end you're not losing much -- just make sure you mention that she has no claims to your computer in the marriage contract...
