Civ V 66% off (offer over)

Hopefully I'm not the only one kicking himself after buying this + all DLC Civs (no map packs) on Steam today for €43. It seemed like such a bargain.

Whoa... I was camping the steam sale waiting for it to drop. Thanks a ton for the heads up.

Just to reiterate, you -can- activate it on Steam. In my case it seemed to self-activate. At any rate it's running like a charm.

I got in on that sale as well, though I heard about it elsewhere.

Now I'm keeping an eye on the Steam sale in the hopes that the DLC will drop even lower before they end it.

Yep doing the same. Still I'm going to buy the two dlc's I'm missing anyway on the tenth if there is no better deal.

Does anyone know if the MAC version of CivV from GG is separate from the PC version? Cause i got that for free (or did i?) when i bought the regular version and it does let me gift it, but it does not have a "show serial number" button, so i'm not sure if i could only use that with the steam acc the regular game is linked to. Cause if not imma just gonna gift it to some poor soul with a Mac

I'd like to know as well. My Gamersgate account shows both versions as "my games" and I still have a "gift" button for the Mac version.

Well i have just gifted the mac version to a friend, when she checks back to me i'll give ya a heads-up if it worked or not. BTW i would be really friggin surprised if it would work, as why in God's name would they give a 50 Euro game free with a 10 Euro game?

edit: the more i think about it the stupider it gets: during the sale PC version was 10 E and the Mac version was 20 E, now it is 30/50. Why FFS would anyone be so stupid to buy the twice-as-much costing Mac version when you get that with the PC version for free? Cause it might be, that the gifting option is a bug, but i sure as hell could use the mac version with my steam acc....super weird

yes it's really weird how you can by civ from different vendors and the different prices. In the mac app store its 50$ but you can get both the pc and mac version for 10$

Actually being able to buy the same product for different prices at different sellers is just called "market economy", the weird thing is that you can buy the same damn product from the same vendor at different prices. Right now at gamersgate Civ V PC costs 30 euros and Civ V Mac costs 50 Euros. But if you buy the PC version you get the 20 euro more costing mac version for free. Dunno if you get the PC version with the 50 Euro mac version though, that would make it even funnier.

So what was the result of your Mac gifting? Did it work?

It did not as it would need a serial, which you only get one of. But what still is stupid that you get the mac version for free with the 20 E cheaper PC version, while you don't get the PC version with the MAc version :-)
