Civ V Crashes on Loading Screen

Hi,

I can get past the cutscene fine but on the loading screen the music plays for a few seconds and then cuts out, and the game crashes.
I'm using a standard Macbook Pro 13" bought last year with Retina and have played the game many times before with no problems. I've tried verifying game content on Steam and reinstalling the game. Neither worked.

This is the crash report I get. I can't make any sense of it and I have no idea what to do (see attachment - too many characters)

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me make sense of this

Welcome to CivFanatics!

I think this is a Mac problem, so I'll move the thread to our Civ5 - Mac subforum.

Good luck!

Hi, welcome.

I don't think it's likely that anyone here will be able to make sense of the crash report. It's crashed while executing LUA script code, but there are no real clues about why that has happened - unless you are part of the Aspyr development team. You should certainly file a support case with Aspyr, and send them your crash logs.

Meanwhile, if Civ5 has been working for some time, and has just started crashing, something has happened to cause it to change behaviour. Can you pin down when the crashes started happening? Can you recall any change that has occurred on your Mac at the same time? New hardware, or a system software update? Have you started running another app at the same time as Civ5?

I recently updated to Yosemite so that could be it. I'll send the crash report to Aspyr

I went to the Aspr help site and chatted with Lucy. She had me run the "repair permissions" thing. It now seems to work, but the computer still feels quite slow. It might be my imagination.

If you go over to their site, please first run About This Mac. They want to know the video card and chip set you are running. Also it seems important if you are running Civ V Campaign Edition, or just Civ V.

Good luck.
