Civ VI Funny/Strange Screenshots

I love that they added canals but I have yet to run into a situation where one would actually be useful.

I did get a chance as Phoenicia to use a canal to bisect a large landmass and facilitated circumnavigation.

It went coast>city center>lake>lake>canal>coast.

Actually I had a situation where it would have been mildly useful, connecting a major city through a lake to the ocean. But at the one spot where I had to put a canal aluminium popped before I had a chance to build it.

The dead sea is no longer very dead. The AI Dido wanted to liven it up.

Great on Earth maps (see above picture). And I think I found one other map it was useful. It's nice to have the option.

I also once had a weird Lake Retba interaction with Panama Canal -- note the submerged tile south of Goteborg as well.

This City Navy just got stuck into the lake and i didn't bother using a regular canal (Plaza on the left & Worshop down were blocking the possible paths) to liberate them boats... sooooo, swept PC north & luckily, Retba northern edge tile could access the middle part of the Wonder! :)

I'm not a fan of real life maps, prefer a terra incognita. But I guess it would be great, in Panama... :p

Of course the funny thing is you don't even need it in Panama or Suez since either a regular canal or a city will suffice.

But on the bright side, you don't need to place a subpar city near the isthmus. You could build the Panama Canal across Mexico.

True.. Yucatan peninsulae could also be a worthy candidate to span through a wide range of Central-America. Trick is.. PC is fairly restrictive in its necessary valid (flat + resources free) tiles & how they must be located between two coastal targets & its host city.

That is close to one of the real life proposals to build a canal across the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.

This is the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius ...

I'll have to see how far I can spread during this era, lol!

I had that in my Freleanor game. The appearance of that screen prompted one of the most evil grins I've ever borne upon my visage.

I have had several lake situations where I've been able to cut canals in key locations to turn inland industrial cities into shipyards. It's pretty cool when it happens. They also make some nice trade routes yield-wise periodically.

I have done this on a random map. It was too good of an opportunity to pass up. It was CityXSeaXCanalXOcean

At least one spot for Golden Gate. Anyone know if it can be build with a mountain at one end?

I could be wrong, but I think both tiles have to be eligible for a road.

The discription says it will build a modern road at either side if not already there. I'm not quite there yet, had to get computers first and now heading to bed. Will post a screen when I get there.

So now I have to decide... is it worth sending a missionary, or should I just wait until the city converts on its own? A hundred and twenty thousand turns isn't that many, right?

I made this video while waiting for GS to be released shortly after playing an India game. The image is from a Star Trek Voyager episode in which Kes walks in during a holodeck computer malfunction to find an out of control Gandhi. I then stumbled on the very 1st image published in this thread (see spoiler), LOL.

*Apologies to anyone too young to know of the US Elvis sightings hysteria or doesn't know Star Trek. You guys should essentially just ignore this. Or the 70's band Led Zeppelin for that matter.

Edit: I wonder if the Gandhi sighting on Voyager's holodeck was inspired by the original Civ1 Gandhi malfunction?
