Well, as you can see, a) I have a holy site nearby, with a +5 adjacency (instead of +6), but in a location where my apostles can have movement without building a tunnel, and b) I have a campus nearby, with a +5 adjacency (instead of +6), which comes from the mountains and the geothermal vent, and which allows access for Great Scientists if needed, and c) I was playing as Australia, not Phoenicia, but even if I had been playing as Phoenicia, the potential Cothon location is on a small lake, not open sea. Not to mention, of course, that playing as Australia, I get an additional +3 bonus for both my holy site and my campus, based on their Breathtaking appeal.
Really only for Russia. Canada's bonuses are better for expanding into Tundra than starting there. (And honestly even Russia benefits from skirting the Tundra.) That would be a beautiful sight for St. Basil's + Russia, though...
My benchmark is 50 science per turn by 1AD (or the equivalent for Epic speed, which is ~5 BC/10AD). I've wanted to see if 100 was possible, without any gimmicks (i.e., the one Golden Age which gives you science from harbors/commercial zones). Totally blew that away.
Kupe...my dude...not only did you pick the absolute worst spot to settle but there are two continents with all this great land right next to you and you only managed to get one city out by turn 128. This is deity level AI folks.
