Ever since I downloaded and installed FFH2, none of my civ icons will open civ 4 anymore. Here is a list of what I use to open BTS: the Europe WorldBuilder save, Wolfshanze's Mod shortcut, Legends of Revolution shortcut, FFH2 shortcut, and recently I finally located the actual start button, labeled Play, and it will not work either.

I looked at the mods' locations and the actual official 'Play' shortcut and here are the results: they are all under c:/users/Douglas/AppData/Roaming/Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 4/Beyond The Sword

The worldbuilder save is just a worldbuilder save, doesn't tell me location...

Is this AppData/Roaming part normal? seems odd to me.
Anyway they all worked yesterday before I installed FFH2... should I uninstall it, and how would I uninstall it?

Oh sorry everybody, my operating system is VISTA.

For your BtS shortcut, right click on it, and select properties. What is the target path for your original BtS shortcut?

Start In: "C:\Users\Douglas\AppData\Roaming\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\"C:\Users\Douglas\AppData\Roaming\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\"
Target Location: Beyond The Sword
Target:"C:\Users\Douglas\AppData\Roaming\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe"
:O it won't let me click any other windows because my path isn't correct. Thank you!
I reset the Start In to only one of those, instead of two, and it now allows me to view the other tabs such as compatibility and security but it still will not play the actual game.

I bought it digitally, which may be an issue for some of these things, I suppose.

It's really odd installing FFH would break the regular old BtS desktop shortcut though. It really shouldn't, I've seen FFH's install script, and I can't see how it could do this.

Regardless. Insure the path for the Start in and Target are correct. Ie manually check the path for where your Beyond the Sword.exe is and make sure it matches. It's strange though, those look right (except you have your Start In entry listed twice, it should just be a single path).

Do the mods shortcuts launch normal? If you double click on the WolfRev or FHH2 shortcuts dot hey launch correctly? If not, what happens if you manually go into your Beyond the Sword folder, and double click on the Beyond the Sword.exe in there? If it works, then right click on it, select "create shortcut" and drag your new shortcut to the desktop, and all your problems should be solved.

Wolf Rev, FFH2, Europe worldbuilder save and Legends of Revolution all fail at working. :twitch:

OK I tried to find the .exe file but I couldn't :twitch: there is no file or folder called AppData under my profile. It's not under Douglas and it's not under C:/users/Douglas. :(

:hmm:
Use windows search feature to find your Beyond the Sword.exe then. Once you find it, double click on it, and make sure it launches Beyond the Sword. Assuming the extension works, right click on it to create a shortcut then put the shortcut on the desktop. After that, set the target paths to where your BtS.exe is in the other shortcuts. I wrote the Legends and WolfRev install script though, I can't see how it can mess up, it uses your computers BtS registry key to define all this stuff.

By the way, the path should be C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Civ 4\Beyond the Sword\ or something similar.

Bad news. Beyond the sword.exe produces no search results in computer, Douglas, desktop, or C drive.:eek::confused::sad::shifty::dubious::shake: :aargh:

Sorry, it's
Civ4BeyondSword.exe

Also it really should be in the program files directory, or something like program files (86x)

For instance on my computer the path is:
C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe
It should be similar on your computer.

OK I got it, but it's not an .exe it's an Application :twitch: 17.7 MB

Pitboss also shows up, 11MB.

if you right click it, it should say Civ4BeyondSword.exe
Anyway, doubleclick it, see if it launches Beyond the Sword.

Edit:
Also install the patch:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=9800

Once it's patched make sure it launches, by doubleclicking it. Provided it works, which it should, then right click it, select "create shortcut" and then put the shortcut on your desktop. You'll also need to adjust all the target and start in entries for the mod shortcuts if you want to be able to launch them on the desktop. Basically change whatever it currently says, to the correct path, and leave the mod=ModName references on the end of the targets.

Hopefully that works.

I did. I also did this a couple days ago. It's a fail. :badcomp:

Well, patch the game (see post above for link). And try again, if it still fails, try a full reinstall :dunno:

Really though, double clicking directly on the extension should work...

SURPRISE!

I tried it today as soon as I got home and it works. :D

EDIT: FFH2, however, still will not open... I'll try to reinstall it sometime.

Glad to hear you got it working.

This is mainly a note for Ori. If you see anyone report an issue and reference Legends of Revolution or Wolfshanze's Revolution (or even the default Wolfshanze mod), please PM me, and I'll see if I can help.
