Civ3...endangered?

Symbols do fade with time though. I saw an interview with a black woman from the southern US who said that she wasn't offended when she saw the Confederate Flag flown or painted on cars, because it was a part of American History and should be remembered but the symbol should not be shunned and hated itself, only the orignal acts it sybolized should be hated.

Granted the US Civil War ended a much longer time ago than the Holocaust did ...

Fine, I changed it. No more Waffen SS poster. This shouldn't offend anybody, I hope.

I don't want to carry this on.
Thanks. The SS were the bad guys. In 200 years, they are still the bad guys.

It's funny, some people (radical muslims, for one) might consider your new image offensive. I think you can't ever please everyone, so you might as well do what pleases you. I'm sure some might consider my forum name offensive, but I have no plans to change it.

Hmm, not sure why someone would view your forum name as offensive. I know of several churches that use the term "overseer" for either their pastor or the head of the elder board. Of course, since that is a religious use, that too would offend a certain block of people.

There was also the overseer who kept slaves in line, and that could definitely offend some African-Americans. I chose the name because my trait in my Civ 3 playstyle is that I use lots of slaves. In Civ2 I used lots of Civil Engineers, in SMAC I used lots of Formers, here I use slaves. I like to get the job done.

Posters whose names and/or avatars are against the forum rules are identified and *notified* very quickly. Posters whose names/avatars may be in poor taste ... we don't make a big fuss over.
