"Civ3 on Earth" succession game.

3700 BC (6)

Whilst roads link Rome with an easy source of wheat our Warriors cross the Po River...so named because <erm> because ;)

3500 BC (10)

Having irrigated the vinelands south of the Tiber the slaves are sent north to construct roads into lands nominally Roman due to the passage of our mighty horde of warriors.

3450 BC (11)

The Commander of the Roman army in the East faces an equally strong host...we send forward scouts. They report of a powerful people known as the Greeks.

Emmisaries are sent from Rome to Athens and arrange a peace treaty...our emmisaries note the Greeks have "bronze working" and have fashioned for themselves long spears with a metal tip and units bearing these arms known as Hoplites.

Can't anyone make a nice Chieftan Succession game for the new guys? besides me?

3350 BC (13)

A third body of Warriors is constructed in Rome which will not be sent to explore...but to defend Rome from enemies as powerful as the Greeks, in addition to providing security for the House of Kitulus as the population of Rome is now over 40,000 people.

Exploration by warriors East of Rome found hilly, densely forested lands in which Greek forces were present...in the West the lands were much more fertile, Rome prepared to build new cities far from Rome. However such an enterprise would take generations to prepare.

3200 BC (16)

In the North our second warrior horde is met by emissaries of a woman Chief known as Joan D'arc...they demand we leave what they consider to be their lands of face being removed from the land.

We prudently agree!

They claim to have knowledge of Masonary, Bronze Working and the Wheel...and are unimpressed at our technologies :(

3150 BC (17)

Ignoring Joan's emissaries our warriors continue North seeking out the City known as Paris. They pass through fertile grasslands, which have many cattle and even large holes in the ground from which rock is extracted.

Paris was found to be a grand city with 60,000 people...but the French don't repeat their earlier protestations, nor do troops approach to drive us off.

In the East our emissaries broker a deal...we will teach the Greeks "Warrior Code" if they reciprocate with the secrets of "Bronze Working"...despite our own research we have still not mastered this technology. Better to gain the secrets now!

As for "Warrior Code" we need to teach the Greek Warriors this as even now they are within Roman borders and are approaching Rome!

In Anatolia our Warriors meet Egyptian Warriors and we setup correspondance:

We gain peace, Masonary for Alphabet and the friendship of a beautiful women:

3100 B.C (18)

 WAR

From the hills around Rome Greek Warriors pour down the slopes...they are the Elite warriors of the Greek empire!

Without warning they descend upon Roman farmers in their fields and slaughter them...the people flee for the sanctuary of Rome.

There the Roman Warriors await...most have never seen real combat outside policing Saturday night revels! The lead elements of the Greek attack are butchered surprised by the vigourous actions of the defenders. But although the Greeks regain much of their composure Mars and Romulus are with Rome and then Greek warriors are beaten back crushed on the banks on the Tiber :mwaha:

Our people rejoice and work to extend the Palace! :king:

However the Greeks are too proud to admitt there is no point continuing the war and that we can forgive their treacherous sneak attack...many more mothers will lose a son :(

In France our warriors find the city devoid of troops...taking bold action our Commander orders the troops to seize the town. The Palace is raised to the ground, 30 gold plundered and resisters are rounded up and hanged. However Joan D'Arc was not found...if she ever really existed  , maybe this in addition to why Paris was left unguarded will remain a mystery forever.

To make the French forget their heritage we rename Paris, Lutetia...it is a capital offense to say the word Paris!

3050 B.C (19)

Lutetia is secured...and riots end due to martial law and the introduction of "entertainers" to make our rule seem more acceptable to the general population. Still however many ask "what have the Romans ever done for us?"

Whilst in the East our Warriors having stopped shadowing the Egptian Warriors seek to place Athens under seige.

3000 B.C (20)

The Seige of Athens begins!

The House of Kitulus comes to an end...a lethal fever after a banquet affecting all eating at the "High Table" decimated the male members of the family.

Will the oldest daughter sieze the throne, or will her husband take command...or will some other claim the throne?

End Reign of KittenOFchaos 1:

We are at war with France and Greece and know also the Egyptians.

We are a prosperous nation having almost completed a settler and having captured Pa/Lutetia! Our technology is probably about average from what I can surmise.

We need to start colonising the expanse of land we have discovered and to prepare sufficient defences to prevent the Greeks or indeed the French taking cities from us.

Needless to say I'm very pleased with our start and think we may be in with a chance of winning this game.

THE NEXT PLAYER:

Whilst roads link Rome with an easy source of wheat our Warriors cross the Po River...

hm, just a short thought when i read that sentence: wheat isnt a resource you need to build a road to in order to gain it, right? it just has to be in the city radius, like gold, game and so on?

screenshots:

2590BC, just founded Veii...i think the spot is quite ok with the cow, river, wine and wheat...

2150BC, end of my turn...

here is the savegame.

summary:

3000 BC: I start negotiations with cleopatra, we acquire ceremonial burial in exchange for warrior code and 62 gold…our treasure is quite full, so I think we can afford it :)

I switched our research to iron working…

2950 BC: I took the risk and popped the goody hut right outside of rome, it is deserted :p

2900 BC: I fortify our warrior at the hills of athens

2850 BC: I negotiate a peace treaty with the French in exchange for one French worker and 20 gold…

2710 BC: Lutetia completes a spearman, he will defend the city…

2670 BC: Rome builds a settler, he is heading northwest to found Veii...

2590 BC: I negotiate a peace treaty with the greeks in exchange for a greek worker and 10 gold.

Veii is founded.

2550 BC: We meet the germans, we acquire the wheel in exchange for ceremonial burial and 71 gold. We have horses right outside lutetia! Good job, kittenofchaos!

2510 BC: We disturb some angry warriors, ouch…

2470 BC: we spot a greek settler who is guarded by an archer...we attack the archer and settler in order to prevent greek expansion, but unfortunately our brave warrior loses the battle. :(

2430 BC: some barbarians weaken the defense of Leipzig, the newly found german city…we risk an attack, but again we loose, DARN!!!

2390 BC: Lutetia builds another spearman, he will defend rome…

2350 BC: We now have horses!

2190 BC: Lutetia completes an archer

2150 BC: End of turn…we acquire pottery for 54 gold from the french...

so that was my turn. quite unsatisfying with losing 2 important battles. now greek will soon have a second city, and also the germans are expanding...while i lost 2 warriors :(

well, however rome completes a settler the next turn, i think we should expand towards greece and germany...so i marked my suggested city-spot on the 2150BC-shot, any comments?

I think he was just trying to make the story more interesting... I'll be taking over from here. I'll try to continue our expansion. It's 9:00a.m. here, and i won't be able to start till around 7:00p.m., but i will start then and try to finish it within a few hours. Wish me luck.

-waco

I use "CapturePro" to get screenshots...then I convert the bmp file to a jpeg using "Lurawave".

Both programmes are available from www.downloads.com

Reign 4 will be Meldor...

P.S Waco Kid:

1. Check your e-mail
2. At the end of your reign e-mail saved game to johnb@brazoria.net

Thanks.

A few comments about the game: Lemming

My comment of roads and wheat...atmosphere my dear chap! Plus it is good to road wheat to gain extra trade and speed movement (road movement is 4 in my mod!).

Good job on getting peace with the Greeks and French...shame about the Germans (remember Varius).

That city site you indicated gets my approval!

Before i started, I adjusted the tax rate to maximise income with out decreasing turns till complete.

2110 B.C. - As preperations come to completion, Emporer Waco orders the 10,000 or so citizens wou wish to relocate to take the north road out of town and not to turn back. Rome shifts production to spearmen. Taught the weel to the Egyptians for 107 gold.

2070 B.C. - The wrethced Germans from the north attack our warriors NE of Rome!! The Germans are defeated in a bloody battle by our glorious army, and for their bravory, Emperor Waco promotes them to veteran class.

2030 B.C. - Veii has completed it's spearmen and begins to build settlers for further expansion. The workers near Veii continue to work on infrastructer there so as to promote further growth. Antium is founded north of Rome in a location picked by the Emperor himself, much to the disgust of his advisors (hey, it has production potential down the road. So sue me!). To celebrate it's addition to the Empire, the people of Antium train spearmen, as strange as that may sound.

1990 B.C. - The Emperor has the "spearmen in training" in Rome drop their spears and pick up shovels, for they will instead become workers of the land. With the few years of training as spearmen under their belt, this just become the most powerful group of workers this side of Sparta!! :D (in other words, nothing exciting happened this turn).

1950 B.C. - Feeling a road to Antium a necessity, Waco orders the workers @ Veii to begin a trek to Antium to...well...build a road.

1910 B.C. - Waco is interrupted during his afternoon feast by his cultural advisor to be told that the French have begun building the colossus. The advisor is beheaded shortly thereafter. No one interrupts the emperor during a meal. On an expitition north our archer discovers the villiage of Hamburg.

1870 B.C. - A Greek archer approaching Antium is attacked by our warriors. We are beaten and Waco orders that no one ever speak of it again, or face sudden death.

1830 B.C. - Our veteran warriors avenge the life of their fallen comrade's while wiping another smug Greek army off the map

1790 B.C. - Having left Antium unoccupied to finish the campaign against the Greek archer, the Bismark felt it necessary to move their own archer next to the city. Feeling Antium is too important to loose, Waco offers a peace treaty and gives up 120 gold. Hopefully this will deter the Germans from further advancement on our cities.

1750 B.C. - The Germans head east, leaving Antium alone. As if on cue, Antium's spearmen are completed, and Rome complete's its worker. Rome begins training a chariot, whose mobility makes them a good scout.

1725 B.C. - Ahh...Lutetia has finished it's temple of worship. They have been ordered to build a settler for...well...you know why. Waco contacts his old flame in Joan De Ark and asks her what it would cost for her to teach him writing. She said 180 gold and contact with the greeks (in the old days, all the kid had to do to get a favor from Joan was...um...nevermind). After a few bottles of fine roman wine, the kid asked for Iron Working. She gave in for contact with Egypt and 90 gold (she's so easy). With the horses we have, the kid felt it necessary to work on horse back riding, well, just because.

1700 B.C. - Zzzzzz....moved some troops...Zzzzzzzz.

1675 B.C. - <See above>

1650 B.C. - Veii has completed settler, they will now build a worker.

1625 B.C. - Cultural expansion in Lutetia. Settler and spearment head east from Veii to colonize new territory. Peace treaty with Greece. We also receive contact with babalon (man they are a backward people). Babalon offers contact with Persians for pottery, Waco counters with 13 gold - they accept.

1600 B.C. - <See 1700 B.C.>

1575 B.C. - Archer built in Antium. They will now comence with a temple.

1550 B.C. - Our warriors searching SW of Veii come accross a Barbaric villiage and are given orders to stand down. Waco feels they are no threat as of now and will be dealt with in time. First it is necessary to explore.

1525 B.C. - Cumae is built east of Rome. Spearmen are being built there for no particular reason. Ahh... a road to our only Iron source has been compleated triggering Rome to begin production on an elite group of warriors developed by Waco himself - Legionary. "It's gonna get ugly," the kid is heard saying.

1500 B.C. - The Greeks are buiklding Collosus and the French have begun the pyramids. Woo Hoo!! A goody hut!

MAY 11, 1500 B.C. - It was a cool spring nite, the sun had just set, and Emperor Waco decided to retire early that nite after a long day of fishing on the Po river. A brisk breeze flowed in through the widow, pushing the curtains into the air, whilst the moon purged its light between the trees, laying a blanket of shadow creatures over the room where a ruler of men slept. These creatures swayed in the wind, as if to strangle all who presided within. At a moment late into the night, a tresspassor crept in through Waco's chamber, barefoot, so as to make no noise. In his hand he held a knife. He steped closer and thrust the dagger into the Emperor's throat, so he would not screem. Twice he thrust it into the kid's chest. Waco never awoke. The knife which before glistened in the moons light, now cried the blood of an empire. An Empire with no leader. Rome would also cry that night, for who would lead her...Only time will tell.........

Summary - well, we have legionary now, and should start building them so we can start our conquest. The area West of rome has a horse and an Iron, and we could probably fit at least 3 cities over there. The road to Cumae should be completed in great haste. We are at peace with everyone as of now, and should so remain untill we build enough legionary. First off I would look the the west to colonize. But that's just my opinion.

I've sent off the saved game, so hopefully we'll be reading about it soon.
