I can't understand how to add different terrain to a BIQ. using civ3 edit . I've searched the civilopedia.txt file and the pedialcons.txt file looking for commands adding terrain files and even added an entry to both text files and it doesn't appear in the civ3Qedit edit rules\terrain tap or the map\select brush type\terrain . another note I have 24 terrain features listed in the map\select brush type\terrain tab and only 14 are listed in the edit rules\terrain tab . any help trying to understand how to and and change the terrain listed in the civeQedit edit rules and map tap would be welcome . I know how to make the .pcx files using windows 3.1 paint brush and change the icon

The amount of terrain tiles are hardcoded. However, most tiles have an LM or Landmark version of itself, which can be a different graphic from the original with different values. You can rename the terrain tile, change its entry pointer, then put the graphic inside your mod folder. Though you should use the same graphic filenames.

...most tiles have an LM or Landmark version of itself, which can be a different graphic...

...and with the Quintillus editor, you can even set the missing kinds of terrain (like tundra-terrain), to have an additional LM-variant of that terrain (with options for different graphics and settings) , what is a pretty interesting feature for modding Civ 3.

TY , this solves my terrain problems . I still can't find where any given scenario find the details and graphic image for a terrain or luxury resource . it seams to jump from one text file to another . I've found conquest scenarios that use the art and text from the gold edition PTW . but this editor will surely help sorting it out again TY

The graphics for all resources (strategic, luxury and bonus) and the resource shadow graphics can be found in the Art-folder of C3C or the Art-folders of the scenarios. They are all pcx-graphics.

I also stumbled upon this, that I could not give a civilopedia description of the LM terrains, even though it was given e.g. TERR_Plain Land mark terrain version has a separate name: TERR_Savannah access, Civilopedia.txt, Pediaicon.txt could not display the terrain cube separately, with its own assigned image, like added units or resources.
It would have been interesting if I could have added a unique image of the civilopedia LM terrain cubes as description to the civilopedia file. I encountered this problem with my first mod. How nice it would have been if the cold sea, the high mountains, the rain forest, the savanna could have been included in the description of the terrain of civilopedia. unfortunately it didn't work.

In the end, I solved it in a different way, I was able to add the terrain file to the civilopedia, but it did not appear in the terrain description.
