Im not updating a new version (I want the public code to match the public release). But your right that Ive already backed out the changes in my version. Its pretty simple changes. Just the change in CvPLayer.cpp getHandicapType(), and a few in the maintenance functions in CvCity.cpp. But either with or without the changes it should be the same.
So it wasn't that it is causing an issue the new way, just that this is redundant in the end? Looks like I already had most of the other source changes anyhow Thanks for the heads up.
There was a change made in patch z which was redacted. This thread replaced the thread explaining why the change was needed, because it turned out it wasn't needed.
Good; 'cause all I got out of it was the idea that the humans were going to continue getting progressively tougher Level handicaps same as always while the AI's bonuses were going to be upped progressively even more. A thought that made me uneasy.
So what do those of us who dl'd and installed the "old" "new" patch do? Can we do nothing and get away with it, or can we simply install the "new" "new" patch? Or is there some uber-complicated side effect that Kael's afraid to tell us?

There really is no difference. I thought that the AI players difficulty level was being used so I changed it to be the games difficulty level. When I went through it closer I found out that the games difficulty level was actually being used. So the change I made doesnt have any effect either way.
No stress, outside of the fact that Im a dork for not being able to read the code correctly.
