Civ4 Warlords - Sound Glitches

Make sure you use Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Warlords\Assets\XML\Audio\Audio3dscripts.xml

I noticed when I went into my regular civ audio folder the iminvolume was 45. It was only 75 in the warlords folder (well, 75 until I made it 50).
Ah, of course - rookie mistake. Thanks Norseman2!

EXACT same problem with me. Played fine till Modern Age, then averaged about once every half hour, making me crap myself when it did it the first time.
LOL, I admit I was scared too, but ... crap yourself??? Man I hope you weren't playing Genghis or some other badass at the time, that would be embarassing to your martial reputation :)

I think I see another problem too -- I can't get stealth bombers. The tech I needed it for (robotics i think?) mentions it in the text along with mechanized infantry, but an icon for the stealth does not show up in the things you are allowed to build in the tech tree display, and regular bombers still show up in the city build display (mech inantry are there though). I'm off to look if there's already a trhead about this. ANother problem I ran into is that I had a great artist do a great work in the city, moving it from 300 to 3300 culture points, and the city borders did not expand all, not even the % control display.

i. Stealth bombers need more than just robotics. It says so in the game, in civilopedia, in the manual, and also here: http://www.civfanatics.com/civ4/info/units/
Make sure you've got all 3 techs and 2 resources required.

ii. City borders won't expand if that means adjusting the borders of the neighbouring cities that are also quite strong on culture. If the foreign cities around you all have 3000+ culture (or thereabouts) they wouldn't be affected by expansion of your city's borders.

In any case, you shouldn't be posting these things in this thread. If you haven't noticed, it's called "Civ4 Warlords - Sound glitches", so if you suspect another type of bug, post in an appropriate thread.

Yeah, I figured out the stealth bomber thing right after posting, just coming back to remove it. Just happened to mention it cause I was thinking about it at the time, jsut an "oh by the way" to my comment about the sound. The culture thing was definitely real though -- the % in the square right next to the city didn't even budge, stayed at 67% for the enemy. If it happens again I will post. I just figured it was a 1.0 bug at the time that others would report, and moved on.

Yes, I can read the title of the thread, thank you. If I write something inappropriate, you can just go ahead and ignore it next time. Thanks!

Anyway, got my dose of fun and humore already, still laughing about the pants crapping ... :)

Thanks for the fix :goodjob: That bug was very annoying. It sure made me jump but I think some of the neighbours too :crazyeye:

This may seem like a dumb question, but How do I edit this file?

When I attempt to edit by using Microsoft XML editor, IE gives me a pop up warning. I allow the warning but still can't edit the file within IE. Do I have to get XML software just to edit this file? When I try to use Wordpad or Word, I don't see an option to save the fiels as a XML file.

Thanks

You can use Altova's XML spy (that's a free 30 day trial version, and the same tool the civ xml files were originally created with), or you can edit it in word, wordpad, or notepad. It shouldn't change the file extension if you do that. If the file extension does get changed, you can edit it after you've saved it.

For something this simple just use any text editor, Notepad, Word whatever, and just save it with CTRL-S. I do this all the time to edit my XML b/c I'm too lazy to download an editor.

The .xml doesn't mean anything. If it doesn't work, just change the extension.

Cheers! Just got to my first modern era in Warlords over the weekend and nearly woke the whole house up at 1am! Easy fix and only took a few minues to find........

Wohoo....

Thanks for the fix. It is really work on my last game... No more stretching face from my wife...

Arto.

Thanks for the fix :)

I was getting attacked by the Romans, and suddenly my game erupted into static, scaring the hell out of me. It was pretty scary tbh.

Notice how iMinvolume in "AS3D_UN_YAWN_VOX_LOW" is actually larger than iMaxvolume. Replace 75 with 50 or something, and the noise goes away. Apparently the yawning of the SAM's was causing this to happen.

Thanks, but... I found the above material and, since I'm not a programmer, I've got no idea how to change the text in the file. Typing over the number doesn't seem to accomplish anything...

I followed the instructions to bring the file into a text editor, etc. But when I save the file and try to open it later as an xml document, it get "Invalid at the top level of the document. Error processing resource 'file:///C:/Program Files/Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civ..." message. Sorry if I'm a klutz with this stuff, but I'm new at this.

Strange. Just open the file in Notepad, Ctrl-F to Find the relevant text string, then edit the number, click the little x in the top right and tell it you want to save the changes. You probably changed somthing else by accident.

Thanks -- yes, this did the job right this time. Cheers.

Thx guys I'll try this, sick atm playing civ to forget about it..got to the space ages (which I rarly do, I usually get bored early industrial)..broke my speakers a few days ago so Im using a headset atm. I liked the music I hadnt really ever heard, so I turned the headset up..all the way  ...I hit the freaking ceiling (literally) when the sound suddenly :nuke: exploded :nuke:. I ended up retiring out of the game just cause I couldnt take anymore of that after a couple more times.

PS to fraxis, scary doesnt discribe that, more like REALLY PAINFUL- espcially if you note I was sick to begin with, the little details guys..you make a game as anal as this and you look stuff like this over, how?

Anybody else having this problem AFTER fixing the file?

The ViSa mod of course has a new XML and it is fixed in there but I still get the horrible sound bug...any ideas?
