Hello,

i'm playing Civ5 on my MBP but everytime i start a Setup Game, i have to choose every options. Sometimes i like to restart right after if i don't like the map..

Is there a way so the previous setup are loaded ?

Thanks !

Hi Welcome :wavey:

Have you looked at the .ini files in /Users/[your account]/Documents/Aspyr/Sid Meier's Civilization 5/ ? These are text files, and can be opened using TextEdit. There are several settings there that determine the defaults for a new game. Maybe you can edit them?

Hi,

thanks for your replies.

I am very unfriendly with *.ini files, and i think not mistaking by saying that i didn't find anything about this in both *.ini files i found in My Games.
One is about graphics options and the other doesnt have any line about parameters of a setup game.

I keep looking but i wonder if it's possible..

My Games is a Windows directory. Are you playing the Windows version? I'm not sure it should make any difference, but you may find more advice in the general forum than in this Mac-specific one.

Which parameters do you want to control? The following is the area in config.ini that sets a lot of defaults:

Code:
; Game Name
GameName = My Game

; Worldsize options are WORLDSIZE_DUEL/WORLDSIZE_TINY/WORLDSIZE_SMALL/WORLDSIZE_STANDARD/WORLDSIZE_LARGE/WORLDSIZE_HUGE
WorldSize = WORLDSIZE_SMALL

; Climate options are CLIMATE_ARID/CLIMATE_TEMPERATE/CLIMATE_TROPICAL
Climate = CLIMATE_TEMPERATE

; Sealevel options are SEALEVEL_LOW/SEALEVEL_MEDIUM/SEALEVEL_HIGH
SeaLevel = SEALEVEL_MEDIUM

; Era options are ERA_ANCIENT/ERA_CLASSICAL/ERA_MEDIEVAL/ERA_RENAISSANCE/ERA_INDUSTRIAL/ERA_MODERN
Era = ERA_ANCIENT

; GameSpeed options are GAMESPEED_QUICK/GAMESPEED_STANDARD/GAMESPEED_EPIC/GAMESPEED_MARATHON
GameSpeed = GAMESPEED_STANDARD

; Victory Conditions
VictoryConditions = 11111111

; Game Options
GameOptions = EMPTY

; Max number of turns (0 for no turn limit)
MaxTurns = 0

; Allow AI in multiplayer games
EnableMultiplayerAI = 1

; GameType options are singlePlayer/spLoad
GameType = singlePlayer

; Map Script file name
Map = Assets/Maps/Continents.lua

[UserSettings]

; Last Civilization Played
LastCiv = -1

; Last Game Speed Played
LastSpeed = 2

; Last Map Type Played
LastMapScript = Assets\Maps\Continents.lua

; Last Map Script Was Random
LastMapScriptRandom = 0

; Last Map Size Played
LastMapSize = 3

; Last Map Size Was Random
LastMapSizeRandom = 0

; Last Map Type Was Earth
LastMapWasEarth = 0

; Last Game Difficulty Played
LastDifficulty = 3

Thanks i found it now :)

i'm going to try changing some settings and see how it goes.

Thanks again!

So i tried that, we can indeed modify some starting options but not all of them (like Raging Barbarians, Random Personalities, Resources to sparse). And some options are for the quickplay only... it's a begining, but not totally what i'm looking for.

Would there be a mod who would setup the parameters automatically ?
Or if i add a line, would it work ?

Thanks.

You didn't say whether you are playing the Windows version. If so, you could try using ModBuddy to set up a scenario with the parameters you want. You need to look for one of the many tutorials on how to do this. But I suspect that's a lot of work compared with just setting those parameters each time you start a game.

I'm not sure how easy that would be on the Mac version. The current patch doesn't even run mods out of the box.

Yeah i am sorry, i am playing the mac version (no bootcamp, no crossover).

Thanks for your help tho, maybe this feat will be released in a patch (or maybe not)..

I'll just keep clicking all the time when restarting a new game but at least, with the few options found in the config.ini, it is a little bit faster now :D

And i searched through the forum, found a couple threads with the same matters and no solution but for the Windows version.

So wait for a patch (or not) :p

And thanks for the help !
