Civ5 sets always set some settings to low.

Well, you could look into graphicsettings.ini, open that file and look for [Graphicdetailsettings], under that lies the options that set the graphic settings. I dunno what the number means though, so if you run fine on max you can post them.

These are the setting in my graphicssettingsDX11.ini I have never run DX9. I do not know if all the settings are valid with DX9, tesselation for example needs DX11.

Well, thanks. It helped a lot...

Unfortunately somehow the thing keeps resetting the settings to low in-game, however the settings display the other thing, that they're on high, while in-game it displays low.

I don't really have pics to compare whether this is a game bug or low settings.

Wouldn't be troublesome to show me some pics on those max settings? I do have to compare. Maybe it's just a display bug.

DX11 are some better shadows and a better water trail for ships, is more noticeable in motion, the difference on a standing still picture is negigible. At least that is what they told me.

Um, you do not try to set the leaderheads to high, do you?

How I can do that?:D

Nope.avi, I only can set the heads to medium, nothing higher. Hmmm, I wonder what happens if I edit the file to force it to high...

Is like this "LeaderQuality = 2", so I have to set it to 3?

I ask, because under Vista, when you set the leaderheads to high, it will change the rest of the games appearance...the quality is then lower, because the LHs would need DX11 and in the engine this one does not go with AA, so AA will automatically get deactivated, so that the rest looks ulgy...or so...er...there's a thread linked in the tech FAQ sticky, if you're interested, but i don't think that applies here.

But it still might be that there are somewhere conflicting settings...maybe there's anything set in the graphic driver directly?

Well I have manually overriden some settings at the Nvidia control panel to get AA on Civ5... I'll try setting those to default to see if something changes.
