[Vanilla] Civ6 Ranger

In academia we call the ages between Renaissance (14-16 century) and Industrialization (19 century) as "Early Modern." (Historians are very mundane when naming eras.)
I'd rather the Renaissance Era in game to be called Early Modern Era and you can easily rename the Humanism civic to Renaissance.

As for the Ranger it's fine where it is as an Industrial Era recon unit.

Is it because they could be either Austrian Pandurs, French Chasseurs, Prussian Jagers, North American fur trappers as well as wildwest prospectors and cowboys?

Yes. It still fulfills the role of what the Skirmisher does in the Medieval and Renaissance just stronger now with a rifle instead of what looks like longbows.

Unfortunately, the Skirmisher and Ranger are pretty useless in combat (the range of 1 means they have to get into close combat to attack, and they don't have the strength to survive counterattacks), and you're usually done exploring by the time they're available... so I find these units rarely get used at all.

Ironically I almost never use rangers because if I play with barbs I explore with a better strength unit or just use scouts.

And what should Renaissance recon choice be? between Skirmishers (GS) and Ranger (Vanilla). Are 'Bouccanier' or 'Adventurer' or 'swashbuckler' a proper name?
I don't think there needs to be one personally, but you could always go with the name "Explorer based off of the Age of Exploration and the fact that you will get to cross ocean and explore new continents.
