Ok - the 'general' how to use it is written here.

When I clicked on the link a new window was opened and immediate closed. When I right clicked on the link and selected 'Open in New Window' I got the message I posted below. BTW, I also tried it with Firefox and got the same error.

Interesting, I just tried it again with Firefox and the page came up fine. Now when I right click in IE and 'Open in New Window' I can't even get the error to come up. I'm curious if it has something to do with my NIS/PF?

True, but the first time I tried the only way I could even get it to the error screen was by right-clicking it. When I just clicked on the link it opened and immediately closed. I couldn't even get it to stay open long enough to see what it said.

Is IE that bad? I still use it but it's mainly because my wife hates Firefox, though I'm not for sure why.

Sometime between that message and next turn civassist quitely shut itself down.

When i tried to load it
Spoiler :
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.

Process ID= 0xa8(168) Thread ID 0xd0 (1744) [btw, I don't know for sure if those were zeroes or O's]

Terminate or debug

[I choose debug]

No debugger found

Now civassist refuses to load at all. I will try a computer reset and tell you how it goes.

I told civ assist to repair itself.
Spoiler :
Network error occured while attempting to read from the file E:\documents and settings\me\local settings\temporary internet files\content.ie5spspohsz\civassis_II_setup.msi

I have saves from the first two errors. Do you want me to send you both of them even though they are only a turn apart?

Right-click on the world-map, and select "Show Units". Find a unit, right-click on it and choose 'combat calculator' ;)

This is cool -- but it only seems to work when an enemy unit is selected, at least on the 1975 version. Is it possible to add a combat calculator to show calculations for an enemy unit attacking one of our units?

Here's a minor "bug" -- eye candy really. If playing with a customized leader name and civ name, CA2 displays the standard civ name and leader name from the game. For examle in Demogame 6 we are playing as "The Great Citizens" of "Fanattania", as the English. CA2 displays Elizabeth of the English. A nice feature would be to have CA2 display "The Great Citizens of Fanattania (England)" when it is customized.

v2.0.1982
Caused by a alert list update.
Spoiler :

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.

CivAssist is a great program. It is a remarkable effort and I thank the author. However, for me at least it causes my PC to become slow and unresponsive. The problem persists even after I exit the program. I have to reboot to restore normal function. As an example it takes about 1 minute to load my current Civ game, if I first run CivAssist II it will take about 3 minutes to load the same game. Gameplay is noticeably slower also. I searched but did not see others with the same problem. Am I alone? I just downloaded and installed last week so I'm sure I have close to the latest version. I don't have the latest and greatest PC (I think it's about 2-2.5GHz P4 with 512M RAM) but it is more than adequate for Civing and my other needs.
