CivAssist II

CivAssist II 30-Oct-2016

Bug report: for some reason, in this latest version the "Pick Latest" and "Pick Last Opened" buttons no longer work. Or rather, no games get chosen to fit those categories, and the buttons are disabled. Running XP SP2.

Hmmm does seem like it's ME then. I still had the download for the previous version on my PC so I reinstalled that as that works OK (apart from the known bugs) on ME. Perhaps ainwood would make that version available until there's another version.
We have a version that should fix that. I'll try and remember to post it tonight / tomorrow.

I now know why CivAssist II does not show a correct map view (in fact no map view) running on Macintosh under Virtual PC: it uses the terrain graphics from the game, and as nobody (?) plays and hence installs Civ 3 in Virtual PC, these files don't exist.

Does the latest version work?

Nope. :(
Tried going back in time to see for how long this has been so, but it seems my cached versions of the installer all install 2152.

Ok - so you can still manually choose files - just can't get it to automatically get the latest files?

Does it work in automatic mode properly (ie load autosaves whilst you're playing?)

Yes and yes.
I get a list of all the files proper, the "Pick" button works fine, and automatic mode works fine as well (except I still wonder how to switch from one mode to the other) so no question that it knows how to find the latest files.
The only thing that doesn't work is the "Open Latest" and "Open Last Opened" buttons, and there are no saves marked green and blue in the list for these like there used to be.

EDIT: Screenie attached:

The last Viking save there is the last one I played.
(And the many Korean saves are because I wanted to get updates on how far I was from the dom limit, which worked fine in automatic mode).

Huh?
Yes, that solved it, so I guess it's not a bug then, but I can't say I find that behavior very intuitive. Why is it so?

A little bug: The cities in Cities tab can't be sorted by flip risk.

I downloaded CivAssist II earlier today, and I must say that I am impressed!

However, I was just wondering if anyone has written a 'CivAssist II for Dummies' thesis (preferably in .pdf)? There's a ton of great information in this utility, and I'd sure like to know exactly what I'm looking at, what it all means, and how I should interpret the data and decide on how I should proceed.

To everyone who had a hand in creating this utility, you get a big :goodjob: and a standing ovation:clap:     from me.

This online help page is pretty good at explaining everything.

Is there a way to put the online help pages into printer-friendly mode? I'd like to print the pages so that I can reference them while I play.

Much thanks and respect. :worship:

[tab]I wish I could put virtual cities right next to actual ones when city planning. I wish I could virtually take out a city so its city radius etc isn't shown on the civassist map.

[tab]This would be useful when taking over enemy territory, sometimes you just want to turn a enemies city into workers eventually desolving it. This way you can better plan city placement around it in the mean time.

We've had that request - currently you can for enemy cities, just not your own ones. WIll be changed in the next release.
