CivAssist II 30-Oct-2016

Hello.

Great program, but I have a problem:
the "floating" alert window never updates itself.

It correctly reports current alerts when I load a savedgame, but on the next turn the alerts are not updated. The window reads the same forever. And if I click the button "hide alert form until new alerts occur" (or something like that), well, the alert window never pops again...

Any help?

I must confess I haven't read the 568 previous posts, so I'm sorry if someone has already "bugged" you with that one.
What OS are you running? If you start CivAssist, then start Civ3, does it recognise Civ3, and do you get the little extra button on the main Civ3 screen below the advisor / civilopedia buttons?

I've downloaded and installed 2126, but have a slight problem, no text is displayed other than things like column headings etc. If you hover over the tip appears ok with text. The World Map and minimap work correctly. I can uninstall 2126 and reinstall 2108 and all is OK, but when I put 2126 back the text disappears again. I have redownloaded 2126 incase it was corrupt but still get the same problem. Windows ME.

Odd. My copy works fine, and doesn't show spoiler info for MP anymore. Thanks!

Hello.

I use Win XP pro SP1.
Beside the problem I mentioned, everything works fine, and yes, I do get the extra button.

OK - it should load the saves automatically. If you don't use the "file" button, does it load the first save up? If you do hit the 'file' button, does it automatically find all the files for Civ3, PTW & C3C?

As a random thought - is your PC's clock / calender set to the correct date?

3 questions, 3 Answers:
1. No. If I don't use the "file" button, no save is loaded at all.
2. Yes.
3. Yes.

Not the latest version - 2108 i think - but a spelling error/typo (that doesn't look like it was fixed in 2126):

Say you are playing for a UN Victory.........Your plan is to build the UN and then get a majority of your rivals to vote for you and voila.....you Win.

Only 1 snag.......Let's say you're playing against a large number of AI Civs in PTW. None of them have more than 25% of the Population or Territory. So, the Big question is: Who will be my rival in the UN Election. The Answer is: The Civ with the largest population.

Does PTW or CivAssist II show me, notwithstanding Spoiler info, which AI Civ has the Largest Population? (I can get a minimum Population value by looking at the city sizes of ALL the AI's...........but this is a bit tedious!)

It would be useful to know the MINIMUM population sizes of the other civs, based on the number of citizens in each of their cities.......assuming it's possible to get a current Territory Map from each Civ............which would normally be a Freebie, providing you're not at War with them. I realize that this info would not guarantee that the Civ has the highest population (viz. if it has a number of cities about to increase in size), but the probability of it being correct is high.

Any help would be much appreciated. :)

@EMan
The game counts citizens, not population, when determining who will be the other candidate(s). So if you have a full world map, counting city sizes on the map will give you a 100% accurate idea of who your opponent is.

@Theoden: Thanks for the heads-up. :goodjob:

It would still be useful for CiVAssist II to show who the other candidate would be though, no? :)

I actually never knew that either... thanks for the info! :)

Yeah - it can be added easily. We have another release that I should have posted over the weekend. I'll add this to it and then post it.
Appreciate that ainwood. :thanx:

I fiddled with Civ Assist II on my XP machine and was very impressed. It has more data in it than I know what to do with! But, uh, I primarily play on a PC running Win ME. Is there a way to get it to work? Everything is kinda blank, like in Furiey's post.
