CivAssist II

CivAssist II 30-Oct-2016

I managed to run the first setup, but an error message always pops up at the end of the installation.

try red'loading

I've tried to use civ assist but (sse my earlier posts ) am having a devil of a time getting it to work for me. Initially, I couldn't get it to run without huge lags, so I added some RAM. Then I could get it to load a save and review the alerts, which was helpful, but it wouldn't change with new turns. Now for some stupid reason I get windows error messages when I try to use it to open a save saying access to <SAVE'S NAME>.sav is blocked. Any ideas?

Blocked file access? If it was working earlier that means you must have changed something on your computer, or in either CivAssist II or Civ3.

I have a fire wall, but even with it deactivated I get the access blocked. I've uninstalled and reinstalled CA2 and still am blocked. I'm getting frustrated.:(

I have installed CivAssist on Vista. I have disabled UAC and CA will run if I select "Run as Adminstrator". It appears to run fine, except that the Alerts don't work, they don't pop up, and if I bring up the Alert window manually, it is completely empty. Anyone had this problem and solved it (other than going back to XP :) )?

Hi, I try to install dotnet framework but failed due to exceptions. It looks like some services can't be registered (process id=0x810 (2064), thread id=0x11ec(4588)) but I'm not very sure. Anyone was having problem like this when trying to install dotnet 1.1 for vista32 ultimate? Any different between dotnet 1.1 for XP and Vista?

Thanks

Its the same thing you are installing on any computer. You need .NET 1.1 to run CivAssist II. When you instal it, do you right click on it and go Run As Administrator?

I don't about that, but you can run without the icon and use Alt Tab to get to CAII in Windows.

Here's a feature idea. Please tell me if CAII can already do this.

It would be nice to give special attention to a designated city. Say I build a settler pump that needs MMing every time it grows; it would be neat to tell CAII "Hey, alert me when this town grows" so I need to go MM it. Sometimes I forget.

I know CAII can list each town that has grown or shrunk (or is about to), but I'm just saying it could be neat if I could give a higher alert status to certain towns that I want to MM.

But it's probably not worth the effort to implement it. If I'm MMing I should probably be paying closer attention, anyway. Or perhaps I could rename the town "MM SETTLER PUMP" or "HEY STUPID LOOK AT ME" so it stands out in the alert list of growing towns.

(Glossary: MM = micromanage, CAII = CivAssist II, settler pump)

Add me to the list of those who have run CAII successfully for years, only to be unable to do so on my new Vista machine. There seems to be no resolution to the Northern Wolf error message, which is the same one I am getting.

I'm looking for comments from Simple Monkey and others. If you've tried everything and couldn't fix it, that's really all I want to know. I have tried everything suggested in this thread.

Sorry to say this, but if you've tried everything suggested and nothing works, you're outta luck. Maybe someone else has something new to suggest or has stumbled upon a solution in the last few months.

I'm really out of luck with CAII. I can't even install .NET 1.1. The solution is to play without CAII or use XP. That's all...

I hope someone can help me here. I have been using CivAssist II for the past couple of days with no problems. Then suddenly, there is an error message which appears when I try to load Civ 3 Complete together with CivAssist II.

A dialogue box called "Microsoft.NET Framework" appears and this is the message:

An unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will be shut down immediately. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Well, when I click continue, the application can still run as normal but I have to MANUALLY go to the File folder to synchronize my saved game. I know that this is not a serious error as the application can still run after following the necessary steps but this is just a minor inconvenience. I did not have this error before but why is this appearing now? I also remembered that before having this error, I used Control-Alt-Delete to close the application when it is not responding. This could not be due to my Net Framework software as the application ran without any problems before.

When I click on Details, this message appears:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

My OS is Windows XP SP 3. I hope that someone can help me here. Thanks!

I have the "Cities that have Grown" option checked on my Alerts.

At the beginning of a turn, if I save the current game, then go back and Load the saved game from the end of last turn followed by the current save, some cities are not identified as having grown. However, if I don't save the current game, the Alerts would appear to correctly identify all the cities that have grown.

Solution: Don't save the current game.........The problem is that I have circa 511 cities and want to save my game at the end of a session before going through all the "Alert Cities"!

Anybody come across this problem?........And, more importantly, how can I get around it AND also save the current game? :)

EMan, I could not find the thread that you had for this in the other forums, so here I go.

You save as you do and CA will then recheck and no longer show growth for most towns. However, if you reload the end of turn save in CA and then reload the new save you will see all the towns that grew.

I did this after stopping for the night. Then hit the end to get the IBT and saved at the start of the next turn. I then bring up CA and do not see growth. So I reload ca from last nights ending save.

Then load the new save form my start today and now I see all of the growth.
