CivDip XVII: Radio Free Europe

Just a reminder to those of us in North America that we now have a one hour greater difference between local time and GMT. For instance, the usual 11:59pm GMT deadline meant 7:59 pm here in the Toronto area, and now it means 6:59pm.

You have been warned. :scan:

Prevent any possible mix ups and submit those provisionals nice and early, eh?

Apologies for my oversight in the results posting. I should have acknowledged Italy departing the game and thanked him for being a reliable player.

Also in the final messages, I was informed that I could take off the mask. Seeing as I was quickly eliminated again, you guys should have already guessed that I was Italy. One of the challenges of this game was that I couldn't openly use the words Lepanto opening in the communications, thus early offensives against Turkey faltered. I'm not sure if Austria would have gone along with that anyway, but it was the best idea I could think of. I've yet to see Italy succeed after an early war with Austria.

So basically, I was stuck trying to fight Turkey with no idea what Russia or Austria (pre-replacement) were doing. Then when Germany folded, France began looking my way. Seeing as I was out of position, I was basically meat. Then comes a night when I was late getting home followed by having to get up at 5 am the next morning (and orders due that night), so my first CFC NMR could not have come at a worse time. I'll be watching the thread to see if France completes the sweep and snags the solo.

Thanks for the game guys...

Autumn Adjustments
Russian A Moscow can retreat to Ukraine.
Russian A Warsaw can retreat to Ukraine.

There's really no point in waiting for Russian retreats. So I'm posting the DPY file as post-retreat, with one of the Russian armies in Ukr (the other is obviously disbanded).

Russia: Supp 3 Unit 3 Build 0
Turkey: Supp 3 Unit 3 Build 0

Could I please have build orders by 11:59 pm GMT on Sunday, November 27? Thanks.

Could I ask a favour of England and France? RP is picky about "Gulf of Lyon" (no "s") and "St Petersburg" (no ".") so if you think of it, it would speed things up a little for me to have those characters dropped from orders with those province names. If you forget, it's really no big deal.

PLEASE READ the holiday break announcement at the bottom of this message!

No orders received. All builds and disbands according to GM's rules:

Austria:
Remove F Albania

England:
Build F Edinburgh

France:
Build F Brest
Build A Marseilles

Spring, 1908 deadline: Friday, December 16 at 11:59pm

HOLIDAY ALERT! PLEASE NOTE: I intend to declare a holiday break in this game from Fri. Dec 23 to Thu. Dec. 29, inclusive. This means we could conceivably have one more movement turn (Fall, '08) adjudicated on Thursday, Dec. 22 at the absolute latest.

I'm aware that some of you might need to break even earlier than Dec 23, or might be unavailable later than Dec. 29, so I ask each of you to email me with any request for the holiday break to start earlier or end later. I will make a follow-up announcement with the adjudication on Dec. 16. Thanks! :)

Think I've worked out who the Kaiser is :D

Should I say Slappy? Aaaaaaaaaaaaah, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah?

We can end the gunboat any time everybody is willing. Feel free to add that to your emails about vacation dates, if you like. If everyone is in favour, I'll call for guesses followed by an unmasking. The game will then proceed with names as well as pseudonyms...

Okay folks, I have heard nothing from our Austrian player since way before the last deadline, and an email inquiring as to current status has gone unanswered for over 48 hours. This being the case, I've posted a couple of notices on our forum for replacement players.

Until a new Austria is found, we'll need to pause the game. There's still a chance we'll be able to get one more turn done before the holidays.

By the way, I've had a request that the holiday break run from Dec. 20 - Jan 4. So that's the range we're looking at for now.
