Hey whats up, im new here. I love Civilization II Gold Ed. I play it constantly. I just want to start some discussion about it..

What Strategies do you guys use? I read some in the war school on the site but their not 100% clear! :D

I jus get 14 cities, and go from there....
I ended this game the other day with 108% approval rating.. Is this good?

:o Also i just want to hear what you guys do, and if you guys play any multiplayer games....

yes will play multi player or just you and me . have you played anyone on line before? see you are from nebraska do you know the difference between corn flakes and corn huskers? corn flakes look good in a bowl. just kidding welcome to you lets play

Me and my neighbor have connected through my IP addy, but his Internet Dial up sucks, i have 256k cable modem!

So yeah i know how to do it, playing on the other hand might be a little different:P

How big is the civ2 community here?

i have cable also if you would like to play leave your ip number and a time to play i am on pacific time give 24 hr or more advance time ,like if you want to play on thursday post by wedsday

Well I am availible after I lift weights, that usually takes 2 hours after school, I would say we need to go somtime in the evening.. Or late afternoon to you. Considering your in the Pacific time zone. So about 6 my time 4 your time? give or take an hour.

There are 2 main fan sites: Apolyton and Civfanatics.
Several thousand people have registered, but many of them post only once in a while.
Some people (Elephant, Old and Slow, SlowThinker, Zenon and myself, ... and some more that I forget just now, excuse me please) post almost daily on both forums.
I would say about 100 players post almost daily either at Apolyton or here at Civfanatics.
Many others play almost daily , but post only once in a while (once a month for those who play GOTM and only post their results :p )

And some of us don't play and can hardly be called "players", but still post in the civ2-fora daily.;)

Some people read this forum almost daily , and will probably start posting often enough ;) ;) ;) (at least untill the novlety eliminates itself).

Maybe there should be a poll on how many people post daily, or a poll on which Civ site is more popular?:hmm:

This sounds familiar... I seem to suffer from some form of periodic civ-addiction.. Most of the time I just play civ for about a month or so quite extensivly, and then let it rest for some time again..
Althoug I check the forum almost every day, mostly the off-topic one..

And all along, I thought I was the only one who got totally involved in civ for periods of time, and than ignored it for weeks at a time. Maybe its just difficult to maintain an extreme level of concentration for long periods of time...:tank:

My favorite example of “heavily involved” followed by nothing would be Starlifter.

Very involved, high quality posts, detailed information, well worth reading on this site (and now that search is back up…)

Of course Real life has grabbed his attention (since 9-11 or thereabouts.) :rocket2: :soldier: :sniper:

I have done that too, though this time it has lasted longer than usual...

I have very lond civ "runs." I started up again in December and have no intention of stopping anytime soon.

Yeah I learned alot from this site so it has fueled my wanting to play.
