Civilization 5

It would be cool if you could determine what unit is the Vanguard, Rearguard and who protects the flanks in a stack. Then you would have to attack that stack from the right side as well as with the right units. Maybe too complex for a civ game.

This is exactly what we need for city graphics in Civilization V !!

Realistic 3D !
At last.

more soldiers in civ 5. I want more medievial units and more boats It is boring when you always has galley and tireme and they used cannons in the war between France and England in 1337 AD

Since I see that people are already wanting for a better version (myself added) I figured that we should rather than have all sorts of ideas being cluttered into one thread we could spread them out according to what idea if you will that they fit too? Who's with me on this?

For Instance we could have a single thread dealing with a said topic such as religions, nations, units, techs, ect.

I think it would be great if we had sub-topics like that. We could have one sub-thread with the title general concepts, another one on historical accuracy etc...

Ive always wondered if Civilization developers are reading these ideas. Are they? I know many of these ideas are silly and hard to implement (including my own) but still there are many cool ones too. I would like to see some of them in the game.

A message to the game designers:

For Civ5 please please do NOT give Mao ZeDong to the Chinese.
Giving Mao to China is the same as Hitler for Germany or Stalin for Russia.

As a Chinese, i can't believe someone would identify himself with this murderer.

Thank you

Uh, they gave Stalin to Russia. In either Warlords or BTS.

And what do the Russian/Ukranian players think of Stalin?

I think the leaders were chosen depending on how well nown they are in the Western world... :(

The same can't be said with tanks or choppers, how much of the exisitng unit can be used for the new one? The human.

The speed of tanks and helicopters still gives them a similar purpose, and the AI might never get rid of its cavalry if it can't upgrade them.

Besides, by the same token a maceman shouldn't upgrade to a rifleman. They have little in common in terms of weaponry. A catapult couldn't be transformed into a cannon, you would have to throw it away and build something new. Upgrades in the game are generally a total replacement of the old equipment and new training for the soldiers, so I can't see anything wrong with retraining cavalry units to play a similar role in a mechanised fashion.

One shouldn´t think of an actual change of weapon systems, instead, what kind of unit replaced the previous unit. Artillery units developed from catapult units to cannon units.

Similarly, the common denominator in Cavalry is not just the human, but more important the TACTIC ! It is irrelevant what you are mounted on or in !

I like CIV4 because it has taken out the micromanagement of CIV´s. (The German version has 10 pages of design notes by Soren Johnson - they make sense !) It is now very playable. What I am missing is more control over my vassals. It peevs me when I´m fighting an enemy while my vassals just sit back and watch, despite the fact they have also declared war and are neighbours !

What we really need now is a better AI. A Civ4 Mk. II :)

When you build the hollywood, broadway and rock n roll you need to build a cinematics for hollywood to spread the hit movies and then you need a stage to spread hit singels and hit musicals and then you can build a radiostation to make the cities even more happy and provides a culture 3+ happienes 5+

One thing I never liked about civ was the lake of strategic cities. Twords the end of the game the world becomes fully populated, You don't see cities that control trade like constantinople. I would like to see a option were you can choose the maximim number of cities allowed to be built on the map. This would force the frontier to never completey go away. Wars would have more strategic objectives rather then just sacking a bunch of cities.

Granted I haven't hade much of a chance to play Civ 4 yet seeing as my computer needs a serious upgrade and mabye this has been fixed. I know in the previous civ games it was a issue.

Well, a lot of micromanagement has been taken out- it's nice- but to me the blatant micromanagement nightmare of fifty unit wars- one or two movement/ turn- is still an issue. But some folks dig that. Oh well.

I always thought it would be cool if Civ5 took you through the normal civ 5 game with new stuff added, then after the space race continued directly into SMAC 2. Like one giant super game, with full tech trees and everything

Yeah, I'm down with that! It would be awesome, especially if they could find a way to merge from being your race in CIV like the Romans to being a faction in SMAC like Yang(was it Yang?) of the Hive!
I think just CIV5 without SMAC2 would be fine, but if they are struggling for things to improve in a big way...(cos CIV4 is pretty impresive)
:goodjob: :)

I think it would be pretty cool if they could develop some kind of civil war-system in the future Civilization games.

By the way, I really think that the border conquering should change. Someone had an idea about a "conquer border"-ability for military units. Sounds nice!
