Civilization 5

I think the next Civilization need Anti-Air units in finale of Industrial Age (WWI & WWII).
Another thing, show in the next Civ how many man have in one unit, and show the "friction" of the battle in tundra, desert, marsh, and the jungle. This would be interesting.

Thanks

my main problem with the game is the only concession of nations that takes place are the AP and UN. Throughout history there has been different leagues or congresses at attempting to keep the balance of the world or to team up some nations against other nations. I think nations should be able to form leagues with other nations, either militarily, politically, or economically situating nations together. I want to be able to form an military organization with my allies and then the next turn an equal and opposite alliance is formed by my enemy. Also, i want organizations like NAFTA and EU to play a big part in the modern era, and organizations can be made like the World Trade Organization for free market civs, and a Communist league for those with state-property. I mainly want this because i hate it when civs i have defensive pacts with are sometimes situated against each other in a world-war, i would like there to be a clear alliance system put in place so we know what a declaration of war would create.

I agree with this. There should be a G20 summit to deal with the world economic recession. Maybe start off as the G7, then G8 and then G8+3.

These are only relatively recent innovations in world diplomacy, and do not actually influence the world greatly. So, I wouldn't like the institution of these specific international organizations, although the ability to create generic ones for specific purposes would be good.

True, but we are currently living in a time where if the economic recovery is on track, Civ 5 will be influenced by this phenomena. Just as Civ 4 lost the stock exchange building but was in Civ 3.

I would like most wonders, small wonders & buildings to be named more generic in terms of worldwide aspects rather than just American. Then again, Civ is made in the USA.

To add something ever so slightly political; if the economic crisis is solved before Civ 5 is released, I doubt it will be due to the G20. ;)

As for wonders, I think that wonders are only slightly weighted towards America, but not to an excessive degree. I mean, you have the modern resource wonders (i.e. Broadway etc.), which are rightfully American, but perhaps such things as Mt. Rushmore should be change to something more generic.

they can also add the channel tunnel to link a continent to another one, or like what the chinese plan to build, the green wall of china, which would push back deserts. Also, a wonder like the olympics or maybe a "expert game programming building" which adds +1 happiness with broadcast tower and +2 with internet.

Perhaps the diplomat could make its return in the form of a specialist. The diplomat would produce influence points that could be used to create alliances, trade treaties, or force other nations into certain civics. This would be more realistic than the current espionage system.

Also, I would like the late-game to be more specialist-focused. I.e. the factory would increase the hammer output of engineers, supermarket would increase the food output of merchants, and so on. This way, late game would be less concerned with farming and more about creating a stable urban economy.

Too far into the future. It's like building a spaceship to alpha centauri which humans are not even close of doing.

Oh, how can I forget the diplomat in Civ2. Just switch to fundalmentalism and bribe all your enemy units. The diplomat, spy, fanatic combo was an amusing feature in Civ2. Diplomat specialist is a good idea.

How about the introduction of food based, product based and service based specialists? As a population grows, segments of the city will focus on different areas that supplement a city as a whole. For example a (chrysler) car product specialist located in Detroit, a movie product specialist in LA, a mainframe product specialis in (Armonk) New York, software product specialist in Redmond (Seattle)....

Something along these lines....

The Channel Tunnel is real; I don't think it makes sense to argue against being able to tunnel under a narrow stretch of sea in the late game on realism grounds.

Fudamentalism as a government type in Civ 2 is broken, but I'd like to see diplomat units and bribing the enemy come back; if balanced right it would be a good counter to the necessary excessive emphasis on military strength in existing Civ versions.

Really? I don't think it's possible to catch a high-speed rail train there or even drive there as a matter of fact.

Britain and Europe are connected by a tunnel. That is what the channel tunnel is. Also there is a tunnel going in under the Brisbane river in Australia. Certainly feasible within a certain distance. An expensive function for workboats perhaps? Build a tunnel mouth with workers and have the workboats build the rest of it between the two tunnel mouths? Good thought. Also rivers should be more useful. As it is now you can't navigate any of your boats up rivers, while there are a lot of boats such as the Dimantina (Think that is how you spell it) that have in real life. Matter of fact that tribal class destroyer now lives at the Brisbane Maritime Museum.

Would this mean that some technology would allow roads and railroads to be built on coastal squares. And later also on ocean?

I definitely think roads and railroads should be allowed in mountain and ice at some point. Perhaps as early as around chemistry, to really have an impact on the game.

How is a worker or work boat supposed to build on the coast or ocean? A set of tanks strolling in a tunnel to attack is unheard of. It's like saying French tanks are gonna go through the Dover Channel to attack Britain.

Afghanistan is very mountainous where tanks are not used in combat.

That is because, on hills. Infantry Partisans with Guellra will have +50% on hills, so that is 30 str already, good against regular tanks.

With Guellria 3, they have 35 str, and attack with 25 str agaisnt a tank and have a 50% chance of retreating.

Now, change that Infantry into a Mech Infantry upgraded from an Anti-tank (+ ambush) NOW do you see how Afghan partisans can pwn tanks: Anti-tank partisan with Guellera, rearmed with mech inf, and sent out to kill./
