Civilization Request Thread

Oh just some irl work, for the AI game I'll be doing Afghanistan (and surrounding regions), the test run is all most up so when it does finish I'll go and tweak the map a bit, move some people around, (try to get the Samanids downloaded). It should be out by next week or so, (might be able to get it out this weekend though).

Great! I'll wait to see it. Mean while I'll come up with new civ ideas. I already have another one that's in design. I'm also shifting most of my ideas to Ancient Roman stuff but I'll still come up with random stuff.

So your shifting your focus to the ancient era? The Elamites, Medians and Arameans might be in interesting to do.

I know Media is already a civ. Elam is being planned on being created (Ryanjames IIRC but I'm not sure). The Arameans are an interesting idea. Never heard of them actually :p.

I'm thinking more Roman Era actually. Right now I have Caucasus Albania being created (Not much about them. I mean Iberia has a ton of stuff and their language is basically descendants of Georgian. But Albania has their own language and I can't find a coastal city of them even though there was a ancient city near Baku that was written by the Romans. (EDIT: Apparently it's called Gangara. Link down below.) . Anybody having any info on Caucasus Albania would be much appreciated. Here's what I have (Besides Wikipedia):

Ah yes Caucasian Albania, this also is a good pick.

Actually it isn't Romana, it's Gangara (It didn't save my edit :p)
But I created my first Roman Pack! The Roman Hispania Pack! Anybody is free to use these in anyway they like. My only concern is Lusitania. There isn't much on the province besides Viriato. Who was a boss I mean seriously :worship:. But here it is:

(Note: Unique names are in Latin because Rome and it makes more sense or else it sounds weird (Aquaductus Auro means "Aqueducts for the Gold" because they used aqueducts to harvest gold in mines). Tarraconensis and Lusitania traits names are not actual nicknames. I thought of them.)

Tarraconensis:
Galba: Terra Romani Argenti: +1 :c5production: for Mining Resources and whenever you connect a mining resource. The cost of acquiring tiles by :c5culture: is reduced by 10% for each city (Max 50%).

Aquaductus Auro: Replaces Mint. +2 :c5gold: to Gold and Silver. Provides a copy for each Gold and Silver the city has in its range.

Aegyptium Templum: Replaces Shrine. +2 :c5faith:. +1 :c5culture: for each foreign city following your main religion.

Lusitania:
Otho: Terra Multae Fluminis: Rivers provide no terrain penalties and provide +1 :c5food: for tiles next to a river.

Balineum Limen: Replaces Stone Works. Provides standard bonuses and instead of +1 :c5happy:, it provides -10% :c5angry: from :c5citizen: for the city in which it was built and provides 10% food growth. Must have a source of stone or marble in the range of the city.

Garum Artifex: Replace Market. Provides a copy of Fish Sauce, an unique Luxury
Resource. Provides standard bonuses and +1 culture.

Baetica:
Ulpius Traianus: Baetica Felix: Number of Cities provide 25% less :c5angry: and whenever a Colonia is built, receive 10 :c5gold: for each turn it was in :c5production:.

Colonia: Replaces Settler. When founding a city, the city gets free walls and provides a :c5production: boost to all of your cities including the city you just founded.

Latifundium: Unique Improvement. Can only be built on Wine and Grain. Provides +1 :c5food: and :c5gold: and doubles when you research Chivalry. Can be built adjacent to another Latifundium and is unlocked at Calendar.

The Roman Hispanian provinces? I didn't think of doing them, all though doing the native people was all ways a thought for me.

Ok up first Tarraconensis, when you say "+1 :c5production: for Mining Resources and whenever you connect a mining resource." Does that mean you get a solid +1 :c5production: production on all mining resources aka mines? And what what are you trying to say in the second part of that sentence? Regarding the Aquaductus Auro, do you get a copy of gold and silver in the city that you built the Aquaductus Auro in? And where did you get the idea of the Aegyptium Templum from?

Next Lusitania, I quite like the UA. It's simple and effective, the Balineum Limen is a nice stone works replacement. With the Garum Artifex, for you to get the fish saurce luxury do you need to be next to a coast or river? Or can you get it from inland cities as well?

And finally we have Baetica (who I keep confusing it with Bactria). That first half of the UA reminds me of India's UA. Colonia's sound nice, so do the Latifundium.

Over all these are some really nice civs. Where did you get your information from? Cause some of these words and terms are unfamiliar to me, which means I don't know them, which means I'm not learning, which means I'm not being a proper human being. Since we're going for an ancient theme here I've set myself a challenge. My grandfather gave me a book recently called, Reader's Digest. Vanished Civilizations, (yeah he's a history nerd like me, so is my mother). So my challenge is to propose a civ about the Elamites based around Susa and post it here, with using only this book as my source of information, (unless I absolutely have to use another source). So that means either by tomorrow or Monday you might see me post something about the Elamites.

Problem is that the Provinces have little info. I had trouvle finding a good governor for Baetica (Though when I found him, he was a perfect candidate). I am thinking about the Lusitani but for now I think splitting Rome up is good because Rome has so many unrepresented cities it's a good start. I screwed up the UT. It's:

+1 :c5production: from Mining resources and whenever you connect a mining resource, the cost of acquiring tiles by :c5culture: is reduced by 10% in each city (Max 50%).

I'm sorry about that :p. I like the sound of your book. Too bad I don't have that level of books like that. Most I have give a general background instead. Wikipedia is my main friend but I spur outside a little to find what I need. Example for Kutai, the modern region has a tourist site that gives handy information. The problem is that the Roman Provinces are never really talked about. But let's go through them:

Tarraconensis: Aegyptium Templum is from the fact that the province followed Egyptian/Carthaginian Gods so that's why I gave them the shrine. Aquaductus Auro means that the city that in it was built gets an extra copy of whatever Gold or Silver the city has in its range and is connected. Also, each Gold and Silver provide +2 gold instead of the Mint's +1 gold.

Lusitania: Garum Artifex you must need to be on a river (Probably should've made that distinction but since it replaced the market I don't know. But being on the river is good.)

Baetica: I accidently , made them a expansionist civ without knowing . Baetica Felix is actually a term to describe the province because it didn't need a legion to be stationed there. City Unhappiness come from that since there was peace. Citizens are happy. A Latifundium is a noble land that controlled movements of grain, wine, and olives (Which should be added when making support). A colonia is a city that was establidhed to keep a conquered region firmly controlled by Rome. Besides Italy, Baetica has a large number of Colonia's so I gave it to them.

Most of the Terms here are my own names (Aegyptium Templum, Aquaductus Auro, Garum Artifex (Though I found that a Roman City in Lusitania was the largest fish sauce [Garum] producer.), and Balineum Limen). Baetica is the only civ that had actual names for stuff. I had to create everything else. So that's why Baetica is my favorite ;).

Also Albania has been moved to a pack called the Roman Client States (Iberia, Albania, Bosphorus, and Pontus). Colchis is already a civ so I'm not making ideas for it.
But I'll see what I can do. I'm gonna try and look stuff up for the provinces for now.

Ah yes that makes much more sense, and it's quite the cool UA too.

I could copy the book and give it to you through email, or I could drop box it or Google drive it.

Yeah I guess having the Aegyptium Templum would be ok since it is an a historical building. So your saying that if there was a city that had a source of gold within the city's working range and you built the Aquaductus Auro, you'll get another source of gold in that city. Same works for silver.

Lusitania: Garum Artifex you must need to be on a river (Probably should've made that distinction but since it replaced the market I don't know. But being on the river is good.)

Ah so you do need to be on a river to build it.

The way Rome handld Baetica, it sounds like the way the Europens handled the new world. In the way of having garrisons in cities, the Latifundium sounds like the Haciendas of Mexico, and a Colonia sound like a mix of a fort and a town.

Most of the Terms here are my own names (Aegyptium Templum, Aquaductus Auro, Garum Artifex (Though I found that a Roman City in Lusitania was the largest fish sauce [Garum] producer.), and Balineum Limen). You'd have to make up a lot of the names of these places. It hard to collect information of lying provinces from a time now gone. I like all of them, but Lusitania's abilities are simple and effective (and I still keep calling Baetica Bcatria in my head).

Also Albania has been moved to a pack called the Roman Client States (Iberia, Albania, Bosphorus, and Pontus). Colchis is already a civ so I'm not making ideas for it.

The Eastern client states of Rome are an interesting little bunch, (especially the names of two of them). Have you though of making an Armenian Empire civ as either a part of this pack or not? What stuff about the provinces are you looking for? Maybe I can help?

No it's fine. I don't need the book because google books actually gives me books that talk about it (Which is where most of the governors came from. Came from books talking about events in the province. JFD made a interesting Roman Armenia civ (Tiridates III) so Armenia doesn't need my attention.
Yes. The Aquaductus Auro does give you the extra copy of the gold and silver that's in your working range.

Especially with the Roman Provinces, any link that you can post here would be very helpful. Books usually talk about Roman Emperors and Rome and the general expansion of the empire. Since Thanksgiving Break is coming, I can work on civ ideas.

With Baetica, Colonias exist everywhere in the empire. Baetica just has a lot of them. I wonder if R8XFT would be interested in these.

Next thing is the Roman Gaul Provinces which should take me a few hours to find everything but I haven't worked on them yet since school work and having to push stuff back. Tonight I'll give some time to it.

Ok then but if you ever need it just ask me. Yeah I forgot about JFD's Armenia, I always think it's a medieval civ rather than a ancient/classical civ. Yeah thanks for clearing up the Aquaductus Auro, it was still really confusing me.

Will do!

Guess Baetica is just a fan of colonias. Who's R8XFT again? That name is oddly familiar.

Next thing is the Roman Gaul Provinces which should take me a few hours to find everything but I haven't worked on them yet since school work and having to push stuff back. Tonight I'll give some time to it.

Gaul is always an interesting place. Actually, Ajsieg do you know if their is a Massalia civ that has been made? Yeah I should be able to post my Elamite civ idea tonight as well.

R8XFT is the person who does the Anno Domini total conversion mod. They're also a moderator.

Ah yes you're right. I've seen him post a few times as well. What does the Anno Domini total conversion mod do? And which game is it for? (Because for some reason I feel like it's not a mod for civ 5. But I feel like that's wrong as well).

Its for civ of course

Ok so I'm going to post my idea for an Elam civ now and wow, even with Google and Wikipedia it was hard to find something for Elam. Any way here is my idea for it. (note I was tired and was being lazy so I didn't put in any of the civ symbols).

The Elamite Empire under Shutruk-Nakhkhunte

UA: Raiders of Kassite Babylonia
Receive double the amount of gold from capturing cities and receive a production boost to all cities when an enemy city is captured. Wonders build faster when at war with another civ. Palace starts with two Great Works slots.

UB: Temple of Inshushinak
Replacement for the temple. On top of the temple's bonuses the Temple of Inshushinak has a Great Work slot and give's +1 hammers.

UI: Suburb
Unique improvement for Elam. Can be built on all tiles (except snow and tundra) and provides +2 food, hammers and has a Great Work slot. Can only have three suburbs per city.

For Elam, I'd suggest something like this:

UA: Raiders of the two rivers
Gain extra :c5gold: gold and :c5culture: culture upon conquering an enemy :c5capital: capital per each unique structure* present there. All cities receive :c5production: production towards religious buildings per each follower present in them when you construct units or raze other cities.

UB: Statue
Replaces temple. While providing less :c5faith: faith by itself, its unlocked slightly earlier at construction and grants +1 :c5faith: faith per each :c5capital: capital you own. +3 :c5culture: culture if the city has a wonder.

UU: ?
Replaces warrior. Has the "First to conquer" promotion, which stays on upgrade and grants it +1 :c5strength: strength in friendly territory per each city you occupy. Temporarily improves any luxury its stationed on.

Gaul is always an interesting place. Actually, Ajsieg do you know if their is a Massalia civ that has been made? Yeah I should be able to post my Elamite civ idea tonight as well.

There is not a Massalia Civ if I'm correct.

Love your Elam design. Though I feel like there's too much Great Work slots (You should probably be more specific too like what slot it is for). Also, if you can, you should find the Elamite name for the Suburb. I might ask R8XFT if he is interested in these but since Anno Domini is getting pretty close to be finished, he might not have the space for them :(.

Well the Gaul provinces are chugging along so I'll spoil a UT for you guys to see how it is ;). You have to guess which province though (Hint: Mediolanum).

Gallica Dona (Gaul's Gifts): When you settle a city (Besides your capital), a resource spawns near the city in which it was founded (Ranging from Bonus to Strategic) and provides a large amount of a random yield in the capital.
