Civilization Request Thread

Hey guys, does anyone know of a leader screen I can get a Parkes style beard that's brown or blonde?

Gustavus, recolored Pedro or Ashurbanipal.

I seem to recall Gustavus being ginger... This requires further investigation...

Just recolor it.

Ok, I still need to make a background and I definitely need to fix his head, but here's my first ever attempt at an art:

So I'm going to post my redesign Sokoto civ soon, but in the meantime enjoy this 1941-43 Soviet Union design!

The Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin

UA: For the Motherland!
Low-health units can sacrifice themselves to deal damage to enemies and to heal friendlies and give them a :c5strength: combat boost, +15% :c5production: production towards armored units during wartime. Enemies suffer attrition in your territory, doubled if on snow or tundra tiles.

UU: Strelki (Infantry replacement)
Weaker then the replaced Infantry, but gains :c5strength: combat strength when adjacent to other Strelki and is cheaper to :c5production: produce.

UU: T-34 ('Tank' replacement)
Russian replacement for the tank, has +6 :c5moves: movement, cheaper to buy with :c5gold: Gold and can be 'entrenched'. Which makes the unit unable to move, but has a much higher :c5strength: combat strength and can attack twice. (also gets accompanying graphics)

Also @Mobfire you wanted more critique? I'll give you some more! Two pages late but eh, I work like that.

So for your Anasazi design, everything there is good and excellent. But I feel that something else should be added to the UA since your bonuses are Faith only and rely on roads. Perhaps something dwelling with hills and mountains since the Anasazi live in Cliff Dwellings you could make a hill/mountain connection and then give them bonuses from it.

Now the Puebloan design is all good as well, again I feel the that something could be given to the UA, especially considering that the AI isn't generally smart with it's units. Although I have to say CS's can manage their armies better then the main empires. Overall excellent job! You make me want to play with these civs.

And Arison, that civ leader is terrifying! Who's this again?

Oh yeah, I was rushing so I didn't have time to look for details. I remember Odin's beard being bigger and more Germanic like, and him being less terrifying.

I was going to give him a full braided beard but that made him too cuddly. I was also going to give him an eyepatch, but it didn't work well.

So how do I make the background look right? Like, which tool? (senshi isn't here to tell me)

Why can't Odin be cuddly?
Why does everything viking have to be gruff and grimdark :(

Depends. Are you using Gimp or Photoshop?

Photoshop.

Not everything Viking. Freyr can be cute and cuddly. Odin, however, is the chieftain of the war gods, and so requires that whole battle hardened and grim dude atmosphere. I mean, how can a guy who cut out his own eye, stabbed himself with his magical spear and then hanged himself and bled out for nine days be cuddly?

So here's Odin in full:

by magically transforming himself into a gigantic plushie :D

Yeah true! Why must everything be grimdark full stop? What happened to happy things? Where did they go?

He did what? Why? Also Chieftain of the War gods? Wasn't he head of the Æsir? Or is that what you're referring to?

The Aesir are the war gods, aside from Njord and Freyr, who were initially Vanir. Odin is called their Chieftain, not their King or Jarl or anything else.

He paid Mimir with his eye for all the knowledge in the world, and then paid to be able to say a rune's name and use it power by stabbing himself and hanging himself.

He's only cuddly if he transforms into a one eyed teddy bear.

I'm pretty sure the story is that Odin pierced his side with a spear and hung himself from Yggdrasil for Nine Days in order to discover written runes and other such knowledge.

Why did it require Odin to do that to gain the knowledge of writing and other knowledge of the universe?

Ah okay, yeah isn't he called a Chieftain because the Æsir are a tribe? I've seen them been reference as such, okay he did that to gain knowledge and the ability to speak the runes. By why was the 'pay' so gruesome for? One eyed teddy bead Odin? I want to see that! A lot of the paintings of Odin from the 19th century make him look basically like Gandalf.
