It was for countering knights and the enemy cavalry advantage so I figured it would still work since it was used against Knights to make up for the lack of their own Knights. How could it be a great general replacement? :crazyeye:

Hussites(Jan Žižka)

UA: Hussite Protests
During war, each follower of your religion present in a city reduces the cost of :c5faith: faith purchases by 2%, and units purchased with faith gain :c5faith: faith from pillaging tiles and plundering cities. Receive a lump sum of :c5faith: faith when a city enters a WLtKD. Cities during WLtKD provide Tabor points when you enter a :c5war: war.

UU: Tabor
Replaces great general. Instead of the great general's abilities, it grants enemy units within 2 tiles a 10% combat penalty(15% for melee units, 25% for mounted units). The tabor has :c5rangedstrength: ranged strength equal to the :c5strength: strength of the most powerful unit adjacent to him. Grants a double flanking boost, and a 15% bonus vs. Mounted to adjacent units.

UU: Flail Warrior
Replaces the pikeman. May be upgraded from a worker. Slightly weaker(14 :c5strength:), but it has a higher bonus against mounted units(75%). If a adjacent to a :c5greatperson: tabor, gains a 15% combat boost and generates :c5faith: faith from kills. May build farms and chop forests\jungels.

That's how.

Except it doesn't make historical sense. It was an army tactic used by certain dedicated units of the Hussite army. Not something of command or some sort of specified generals escort

Well tell that to JFD then. he made Bohemia with the tabor as a great general replacement.

I know he did that's why I called my UU Wagenburg.
It's not really a great general though (can be bought with gold and doesn't give the usual GG bonuses) and his design I find considerably more accurate than yours (though I do disagree with some of the aspects).

Assyria split!

Neo Assyrian Empire(Tiglath Pileser III
Spoiler :
UA: Dual Reform
:c5occupied: occupied and :c5puppet: puppet cities generate 33% less :c5unhappy: unhappiness. Whenever you conquer a city, gain a :c5production: production boost in all cities building military units(doubled with infantry). May consume :c5greatperson: great generals to deal damage to enemy cities.

UU: Reformed Infantry
Receives the "assimilation" promotion, which allows it to capture enemy units in friendly and neutral territory, unlike the spearman which it replaces. The capture chance is increased per each adjacent unit with this promotion. Slightly stronger(12 :c5strength:).

UU: Mounted archer
Replaces horseman. Unlike it, the mounted archer is a ranged unit, available earlier at trapping. It has slightly lower strength(12 :c5rangedstrength:, 9 :c5strength:), but it is cheaper, and also has a boost while defending against melee units(33%).

Ashurbanipal
Spoiler :
UA: Treasures of Nineveh
Gain a :greatwork: great work of writing when you conquer a city of a (certain)civilization for the first time. Upon conquering a capital, gain 25% more :c5gold: gold, and :c5science: science equal the amount of gold. Gain :c5science: science and :c5culture: when you gain a :greatwork: great work of other civilization.

UU: Siege Tower
Replaces the catapult, but unlike it, is a melee unit. Unlocked at masonry. Has 10 :c5strength: strength, and starts with the siege and cover I promotions. It has no go us vs. Cities, but instead it grants adjacent units a 50% bonus vs. Cities. Has a 50% penalty while attacking units.

UNW: Library of Ashurbanipal
Unlocked at writing, as opposed to philosophy, unlike the national college which it replaces. Grants 1 :c5science: science and :c5culture: culture per each greatwork present in the city. Additionally, contains additional :greatwork: great work of writing slot per each different civilization you conquered a city from(Max. 8 slots overall).

(Tiglath Pileser III is a wide player. Ashurbanipal is a bit of this, a bit of that .)
More to come!

Ashurbanipal is not worthy of a civ. I am astonished at Firaxis' choice of leader. They could've picked Tiglath-Pileser III, or Sargon II, or Sennacherib... but instead they went for the least impressive king. Shame on them.

Eh, most mainstream one.

R U kidding? That library is awesome though...
Also, he is not the less impressive. They could have went with another one, yes, but Ashurbanipal isn't that bad.

Yeah, Natan, and I guess that means Nicholas II and Cixi and Manuel II deserve a civ, too? :p But yeah, Ashurbanipal was probably for name dropping. Or maybe Firaxis came up with the trait first? Idk much about Assyrian history.

He was the king who led Assyria into its downfall. If he deserves a civ, then I guess Romulus Augustulus deserves one as well?

No, he did what needs to be done.
(Lol )

Hey, Russia, China and Portugal are modern empires that have collapsed - that automatically makes them more interesting! :p

Then you are SOOOO gonna hate this one:

Western Roman Empire:
Leader: Majorian
Unique Ability: A Heroic Character for a Degenerate Age: Upon completion of the Honor tree, Barbarian encampments captured by this civilization yields a 30% chances of spawning a new unit. Capturing another Civilization's Capital allows you to procure that Civilization's unique units.
Unique Unit 1: Magister Militum: Replaces Great General. Placing a Magister Militum within a tile of a city doubles the happiness output in the city.
Unique Unit 2: Liburnian: Replaces the Trireme, is capable of moving after attacking.
Capital: Ravenna

For anyone that's played Final Fantasy X:

Spira

Leader: Yu Yevon

UA: Spiral of Death: Gain faith from kills, deaths, capturing cities and losing cities. Summoners may be purchased with faith.

UB: Chamber of the Fayth: Replaces Temple. Upon being constructed, the city is assigned a random Aeon. Aeons cannot be repeated until all 8 Aeons are present in the empire. Cities receive unique bonuses according to the Aeon that has been assigned to them.

UGP: Summoner: Replaces Great General. Gives unique promotions to units within 2 tiles in addition to the regular combat bonus. The promotion given depends on the Aeon of the city it was purchased in.

I have no idea what any of the bonuses given would be at this moment in time because I came up with this design 5 minutes ago. For any of you who haven't played Final Fantasy X, please do so that game is amazing.

More Assyrias!

UU: Metallic Chariot
Replaces the chariot archer. Unlike it, the metallic chariot is a melee unit, and it requires iron rather then horses. It has one extra vision range and :c5moves: movement(5), and slightly higher :c5strength: strength(10). Additionaly, it does not consume all of its movement points when enteringa hill or a river.

UI: Karum

May be used to assimilate cities to your empire, granting :c5culture: culture when consumed that way.
