Civilization Request Thread

Pardon me but those look like the lamest UU names I've ever seen. I mean, muralla, really?

Do you have any reccomendations for changing the name of the Uniques?

Well, depends on what you're looking for.

The Caballero would be better off as an Almogavar, maybe Jinete but that's also somewhat vague (I trust it means the same in Portuguese as it is in spanish.)

The Carabela is really unappropiate and truly, Galleons were much more iconic of the Spanish Empire, even if Caravels were the ones used to discover the New World.

As for the Muralla, I, err.... I'm not sure what you're trying to represent there, walls that can be painted?

Caballero: Great! Those are quite good names.

Carabela: Turns out, checking old midnight notes on researches on Spain isn't good at all. I should've double-checked.

Muralla: Old Spanish Medieval towns were outfitted with walls in order to protect against the Moors during the Reconquista, or even before it. As a result, they're sort of tourist attractions in smaller towns or more classic towns. The Great Work of Writing thing comes from the fact that most of Spain's classic literature is from that period, which is definetively interesting.

My Japan split!(Part I)

Tokugawa shogunate
Spoiler :
Leader: Tokugawa Leyasu
UA: Red Seal
:trade: trade routes from other civilizations contribute :c5production: production towards religious and maritime buildings based on the :c5gold: gold received from them. Ship :c5production: production is increased by 10% per each cargo ship sent to the city(up to 30%). Receive double :c5gold: gold from plundering :trade: trade routes.

UU: Red Seal ship
Replaces cargo ship. Unlike the cargo ship which it replaces, the red seal ship has :c5strength: combat strength and may defend itself. Its :c5strength: strength and :c5production: production cost are increased by the reaserch of certain techs*. May plunder :trade: trade routes.

UU: Daimyo
Replaces great general. While stationed in a city, increases it's :c5production: production of military units and border growth rate. Citadels founded by daimyo improve all adjacent tiles to farm(if no other improvement\ a resource are present).

*sailing, navigation, steam power.

Oda Clan
Spoiler :
Leader: Oda Nobunaga
UA: Tenka Fubu
Improvements does not provide defensive boosts or do damage against your units. Units with more :c5strength: combat strength then your most experienced unit earn :c5greatperson: great general points at double rate, and receive double :c5strength: combat boost from great generals.

UU: Samurai
Replaces musketman. Unlocked earlier then the musketman, at chivalry, but has lower combat strength(22 :c5strength:). Has the great generals I promotion, and a 20% bonus while attacking melee units. receives 2 extra :c5strength: combat strength after reaserching gunpowder and metallurgy. Upgrades to the rifleman.

UB: Shiro
Replaces castle. Unlike the castle which it replaces, the Shiro contains a :greatwork: Great work of art slot that provides extra :c5culture: culture(3 :c5culture: instead of 2), but provides no tourism until flight. After flight, the great work slot will also provide 3 :tourism: tourism.

You mean those "Novelas de Caballería"? The ones Don Quixote was parodying? :crazyeye:

Well, guess it makes sense. Castro could work, though the term's pre-medieval Spanish, they were definitely used during the period, and of course the word's still in used, even if most people aren't aware anymore of its origins. Given that it is a Wall Replacement, it does make sense to be there.

Baluarte could also work, though it's way fancier and more meant to protect palaces and such.

Fuerzas, according to my quick research, is the correct word for the walls protecting small villages you're referencing.

Thanks! On the design itself, any tips?

I think you went for a more "region" approach rather than "history" one - that said, Spain has very well defined regions with their own unique cultures...

I think you went for a more "region" approach rather than "history" one

This really made no sense... Castille, Aragon and Navarre were all fully independent of eachother. The logical split of the spaniards would be: Asturias, Leon, Galicia, Castille, Navarre, Aragon, and only then a united Spain with the new world focus.

I was going for Haspburg Spain afterwards and so forth until Franco's Spain, but alright. I see that position and it's not wrong in any way whatsoever, I was just going for an entirely different approach.

That said, a Spanish Scenario seems very interesting...

Well... while we're doing it.

Spain Split

Kingdom of Castile
Leader: Isabella I de Trastámara
UA: Deus Vult
Receive +1 :c5production: production towards land units in all cities for every 5 :c5faith: faith generated in the :c5capital: capital and +3 :c5faith: faith in the :c5capital: capital for every :c5occupied: occupied city in the empire. While a military unit is being trained in the capital, 25% of :c5faith: faith per turn contributes towards :c5goldenage: golden age progress.

UB: Tribunal (Replaces Courthouse)
Unlike the Courthouse it replaces, the Tribunal may be constructed in any city following a different religion to the :c5capital: capital. While all citizens of this city follow the religion of your capital, the Tribunal generates +2 :c5happy: happiness. However, if they do not, the Tribunal generates +3 :c5faith: faith and +25% religious pressure in this city. Furthermore, the Tribunal grants a faith boost in the capital whenever a citizen converts in this city.

UU: Almogavar (Replaces Knight)
The Almogavar, unlike the knight it replaces, receives +1 experience for every 3 faith per turn generated in the city it was trained in, to a maximum of +15 experience. Furthermore, the Almogavar receives +1 movement points and +2 sight during :c5goldenage: Golden Ages.

Crown of Aragon
Leader: Ferdinand the Catholic
UA: Consulate of the Sea
Sea :trade: trade routes generate +1 :c5gold: gold for every allied city state and generate :c5goldenage: Golden Age points equal to their :c5gold: gold yield when connected to a :c5citystate: city state, doubled if allied. Naval or embarked units may heal in :c5citystate: city state waters as though they were friendly.

UU: Xebec (Replaces Galleass)
The Xebec receives increased movement in coasts, unlike the galley it replaces, and generates :c5gold: gold whenever it attacks an enemy ship. When the Xebec finishes its turn on the same tile as an Aragonese cargo ship, it generates :c5goldenage: Golden Age points equal to its level.

UB: Consulate (Replaces Market)
The Consulate, unlike the Market it replaces, generates an additional +3 :c5gold: gold if built in a coastal city and increases local city happiness by :c5happy: 1 for every outgoing :trade: international trade route. During :c5goldenage: Golden Ages, the Consulate grants +15 experience to naval units trained in this city.

New Spain
Leader: Hernán Cortés
UA: Seven Cities of Gold
Receive 100 :c5gold: gold upon discovering a Natural Wonder, or 500 :c5gold: if the first to discover it. All yields from Natural Wonders are doubled in all cities.

UU: Conquistador(Replaces Knight)
Unlike the Knight it replaces, the Conquistador receives no penalty when attacking cities and may embark and cross oceans with defence before the discovery of astronomy. Furthermore, the Conquistador receives +2 sight and the ability to found new cities when on a different continent to the :c5capital: capital.

UI: Hacienda
The Hacienda may only be built on different continents to the capital, and must be built on top of a plantation resource. The Hacienda yields +2 :c5gold: gold, +1 :c5production: production and +1 :c5food: food, but these yields are doubled if built adjacent to a Natural Wonder. Furthermore, upon disbanding a worker when stationed on a Hacienda, the yields are temporarily increased by 1 for 5 turns.

Goddamn I hate that icon limit :'(

Also I'll try discuss some of the other ideas when I get a chance.

Next: Spain (Charles V) Navarre (Charles II) and Cordoba (Abd-ar-Rahman III)

I like most of the ideas but as of now the first two are incredibly unbalanced. The faith from occupied city's should be reduced to 1 or 2 and the last effect of the Tribunal should be removed. Are the Golden Age points from Aragon's UA for when you send the trade route or for its duration? if its the latter its incredibly OP you could get more than a hundred golden age points per turn from it. The Xebec is also incredibly powerful. One experienced Xebec could generate more than 60 golden age points per turn. I recommend you remove that effect, the Xebec is powerful enough as it is I'm not sure why the Xebec replaces the galley(the same goes for many other naval UU's you have designed)it would make more sense as a Galleass replacement.

My Spain split!

Habsburg Spain
Spoiler :
Leader: Phillip II
UA: Sun never sets
During :c5goldenage: golden ages, units move freely* through roads at double speed. In Cities founded on continents other then you :c5capital: capital's, all tiles with luxuries yield 1 :c5goldenage: golden age points. Additionaly, luxuries improved by a mine in those cities yield one extra :c5gold: gold and provide double quantity.

UU: Conquistador
Unlike the knight which it replaces, the conquistador comes at astronomy and costs more to produce. has 2 extra :c5moves: movement and sight while embarked. While closer to a continent other then your capital's, may found cities, has double :c5strength: defence while embarked and has no penalty attacking cities.

UU: Tercio
Replaces musketman. Though weaker then the musketman(21 :c5strength:), they receive 3 extra :c5strength: combat strength per each tercio adjacent to their target(max. 6), and receive a 33% boost vs. Cavalry. Costs less to produce.

Crown of Aragon
Spoiler :
Leader: Ferdinand II
UA: Crown of the sea
Coastal :c5occupied: occupied and :c5puppet: puppet cities provide no extra :c5unhappy: unhappiness, and may purchase buildings in :c5puppet: puppets. :c5influence: influence resting point with CS is increased by 5 per each :trade: trade route you have with them, and you receive 33% of the :c5gold: gold allied CS receive from naval :trade: trade routes*.

UB: Consulate
Replaces courthouse. Has no maintenance costs, and may be built in all coastal and puppet cities(and in occupied cities). If built in coastal city, increases the :c5gold: gold output from :trade: trade routes to CS by 33%, and yields 1 :c5happy: happiness per each trade route to a city with a consulate. If built in an inland city, acts as a normal courthouse, but costs no maintenance. Automatically built in allied city states.

UU: Almogavar
Replaces knight. Unlike the knight, the Almogavar has a bonus in foreign lands(25%), and has the amphibious promotion. Gains 3 extra XP per each :trade: trade unit sent to and from the city its built in.(max.15)

Welcome to the forum! Hope you'll stay! :goodjob:
Anyway, continuing my split:

Crown of Castile
Spoiler :
Leader: Isabella I of Spain
UA: Reconquista
Units Receive a 2% :c5tsrength: combat bonus vs. Cities per each :c5citizen: follower of religion other then your own in them. Upon conquering a city, at least 50% of the followers of other religions are killed(receive 20 :c5faith: per each one killed this way), and you may choose to convert or kill the remaining followers of other religions*. May buy :c5war: great generals and admirals with :c5faith: faith.

UB: La Santa Hermandad
Replaces constabulary. Comes earlier, at chivarly. Unlike the constabulary, it removes extra :c5unhappy: unhappiness from followers of other religions. In addition, it costs no :c5gold: gold to maintain and provides 2 :c5happy: happiness.

UU: Holy Order
Replaces knight. Has slightly higher :c5strength: combat strength then the knight(21). Additionally, gains a 33% bonus in lands of civilizations that follow other religions, and a 33% bonus against cities following other religion. Gains :c5faith: faith from kills in foreign territory. Slightly more expansive.

*killing followers grants you 20 :c5faith: faith and 2 piety(or 30 :c5faith: faith), while converting them causes them yield double :c5unhappy: unhappiness but grants you 2 :c5science: science and :c5gold: gold from each Great work in the city, and grants you 30 :c5science: science per each citizen converted.

So what do ya think?

I like most of the ideas but as of now the first two are incredibly unbalanced. The faith from occupied city's should be reduced to 1 or 2 and the last effect of the Tribunal should be removed. Well, remember its occupied cities, which don't tend to stick around long and can generate a lot of unhappiness if they're of any reasonable size. That's why I made it quite a bit - its only going to be until you build a courthouse. For the tribunal I'd rather keep the second bit and reduce some of the other effects, since it ties into the UA really well, given it would contribute to military unit production. The golden age points were meant to be just for when you send the route - obviously it'd be OP if it were the latter, especially in the late game. Regarding the xebec, it was meant to be the number of levels, so 5 or 6 golden age points maximum really, and even that is super rare - especially on naval units in the renaissance. And I forgot that galley != galleas. Sorry bout that.

Added pretty much all of your suggestions, so thanks!

It should be better....

India Split!(Chola)

Chola Empire
Spoiler :
Leader: Rajendra Chola I
UA: The Chola Lake
Upon :c5war: conquering a city receive :c5production: production boost towards :c5faith: religious buildings in cities with a source of water. UB: Dravidian Temple
Replaces temple. Has a much higher production cost(185 :c5production:), and is unlocked at theology. However, it provides additional 1 :c5culture: culture and 1 :c5faith: faith(bonuses doubled if the :greatwork: Great work of art or artifact slot is filled). After flight, yield 1 :tourism: tourism. When you :c5war: capture a city, starts a 5-turn WLtKD.

UU: Kallarani
Replaces Privateer. Has the same promotions as the privateer, but comes earlier(at compass), and costs lThiravi produce(125 :c5production:). Has 18 :c5strength: combat strength. Additionally, it has the 'unmarked' promotion, giving it 1 extra sight per each two levels it has outside of friendly territory, and 1% combat boost in friendly territory per each 2 XP it has(up to 30%).

Spoiler :
Leader: Raja Raja I
UA: Three Tiers of Economy
:c5gold: merchant specialists convert 10% of city's :c5food: food output to :c5gold: gold and :c5production: production of units per each :trade: trade route sent from the city. Receive 1 :c5gold: gold from :trade: trade routes per each 2 improvements* in a city. :trade: cargo ships also receive :c5greatperosn: Thalai Thiravi points from improvements.

UU: Thalai - Thiravi
Replaces great merchant. While stationed in a city, increases the :c5gold: gold from all trade posts by 2, and gives you 1.5 extra :c5gold: gold from luxuries in each :trade: trade route to and from the city.

UB: Nagaram
Replaces market. Unlocked at guilds. It will contain 1 extra merchant slot and will increase :c5gold: gold from merchants by 1 per each two different luxuries in the city, in addition to the effects of the market.

*Ports, roads and railroads does not count.

I'll join the bandwagon and update my old designs that are kinda... outdated.

Aragón

UU: Lombarda: Replaces Cannon. +1 Movement and Starts with medic promotion.

Viceroyalty of Peru

UB: Real Audiencia: Replaces Courthouse. Has the same characteristics as the Courthouse, but can be built in any city. Having Audiencias in all your cities enables the Consejo de Indias, an unique National Wonder. Which reduces resistance time in occupied cities.

Wow. This is two splits(by the normal standard)
(You mind if I'll quote it and add icons?)

I don't mind at all. I just updated the civs I posted on the last page, I'm kinda meh-ish at the abilities I came up with to be honest.
