Civilization Request Thread

How about that? A remake of the Korea split I made long ago, minus the earlier designs

Joseon(Sejong)
UA: Hall of Worthies
Completing an improvement grants a sum of its yields to the nearest city for each specialist in the empire, doubled during :c5goldenage: golden ages. :c5greatperson: Great person tile improvements and :greatwork: great works grant +2 :c5goldenage: golden age points, and yield +3 :c5science: science during them.

UU: Hwch'a
Replaces trebuchet. Significantly stronger(10 :c5strength:, 24 :c5rangedstrength:), the Hwch'a doesn't have any bonuses against cities. However, units do not receive any defensive bonuses when attacked by it.

UI: Seowon
Unlocked at education, and may not be built adjacent to other Seowons. Yields +2 :c5science: science and +1 :c5culture: culture, and additionally +1 of the yields of any adjacent :c5greatperson: great person tile improvement. +1 :c5greatperson: GPP each turn towards a random great person, increasng to +2 :c5greatperson: if the city has a university and to +3 if it has a wonder.

Middle Joseon(Senojo)
UA: Righteous Power
Fighting against stronger foes yields more XP and :c5greatperson: Great general\ great admiral points, and killing their units will heal yours. Enemy units ending their turn in your territory grant :c5production: production towards military units in the :c5capital: capital, and increase the combat bonus from :c5greatperson: great people by +1% each.

UU: Turtle ship
Replaces the Caravel, despite having none of its attributes and being much stronger (32 :c5strength:). While it is slower with only 3 :c5moves: movement, it has the "Dragon breath" trait which reduces the :c5strength: strength of adjacent units by 10%, including land ones. Additionally, boarding party promotions do not apply when engaging turtle ships in combat.

UU: Panokseon
Replaces Galleass. Much stronger (24 :c5strength:, 25 :c5rangedstrength:) and more expansive. Has only 2 :c5moves: movement but moves through coasts at double speed, ignoring ZOC.

I like it, I like it. But it'd require quite a bit of lua :/ Like, a lot of lua. Also it keeps Seonjo very defensive.

Frankly, I don't have any problems with your designs in and of themselves, especially the last few, they were great. It's a bit of a missed opportunity to not redesign Sejong, that said, mostly because I'm just not a big fan of how he feels when playing. I like the Research Bonus with Science buildings, the rest is just kind of really boring to me. I'm drawing blanks with all I try, sorry.

Tempting, tempting... redesigning Sejong's UA would let me make the Seowon cooler... Alright! Let's see what we can come up with! I think I'm happy with Seonjo anyway.

Here's Denmark Split Part 1! :D

Kalmar Union (Margaret I)

UA: The Nordic Union -
Upon a Declaration of Friendship with another Civilization instantly gain a Defensive Pact as well as a large sum of Gold :c5gold: and Culture :c5culture:. Whenever a Golden Age :c5goldenage: is dawned gain influence :c5influence: with every city-state :c5citystate: you have met.

UU: Ridder -
Replaces the Knight. This unit has +25% defense :c5strength: and attack :c5war: when inside city-state :c5citystate: borders.

UB: Slot -
Replaces the Castle. Alongside the usual benefits of a Castle, for every city-state :c5citystate: ally you have this castle grants +1 more Defense :c5strength: to the city. (Max: 10 :c5strength: ). For every Great Person :c5greatperson: tile being worked you are granted +5% Ranged Combat Strength :c5strength: for the city.

Denmark-Norway (Frederick III)

UA: Repelling the Attack -
All cities are granted +20% defense :c5strength: during a declaration of war :c5war:. During the time of war, units within city borders gain +15% attack :c5war:.

UU: Rytter -
Replaces the Horsemen. Whenever you are attacking an enemy city you are healed 15% of the damage dealt to the city.

UB: Hest Stald -
Every mounted unit is granted +10XP when trained in this city. Mounted units are also given the "Angreb" promotion giving them +15% attack strength :c5war: against siege units and units adjacent to them.

Design Attempt Number I've Forgotten :p
Seonjo - Korea (Imjin War)
When war is declared upon you, receive a free naval unit in all coastal cities. Gain Culture from settling or capturing coastal cities.

UU: Turtle Ship
Considerably stronger than the Caravel, which it replaces, the Turtle Ship has -1 Movement, no extra sight, and cannot withdraw before melee.

UU: Chongtong
Replacing the Cannon, the Chongtong is physically weaker but has a stronger ranged attack. It also gains +2 Movement when embarked, and has a 50% combat bonus against naval units.
Sejong - Korea (Scholars of the Jade Hall)
Gain Golden Age Points from Specialists and Great Person Improvements, and +1 Science from them during a Golden Age. Receive a tech boost every time a scientific building or Wonder is constructed in the Capital.

UU: Hwach'a
Vanilla Hwach'a

UB: Seowon
Unlike the Temple, which it replaces, the Seowon is more expensive, but costs no maintenance and contains a Scientist specialist slot.

That design looks very good, but I have a couple suggestions :).
1. How about making the Turtle Ships give more points toward Great Admirals? That would change it a little more and makes it more unique.
2. Like the Turtle Ship, make the Hwach'a a little more unique, like getting science from kills maybe?
3. Make the Seowon give +1 Science. A small boost would make better since it's a little weak.
I actually have an idea for it if you want to see it.
Spoiler :

Seowon: Replaces Observatory. Does not require a mountain but gives +30% Science Production and +20% Faith Production in the city it was built and is more expensive to produce. P

I like all these changes ;)

Seonjo - Korea (Imjin War)
When war is declared upon you, receive a free naval unit in all coastal cities. Gain Culture from settling or capturing coastal cities.

UU: Turtle Ship
Considerably stronger than the Caravel, which it replaces, the Turtle Ship has -1 Movement, no extra sight, and cannot withdraw before melee. The Turtle Ship also gains extra Great Admiral points from combat.

UU: Hwach'a
Slightly weaker than the normal Hwach'a, but gains Science from kills.

UB: Seowon
Considerably more expensive than the Observatory it replaces, the Seowon does not require a mountain. It provides only +30% Science (down from 50%) and +15% Faith.

Fair point, but the thing is Korea had an utterly atrocious army :P Hideyoshi's army drove them all the way to China before Yi started doing stuff.

Anyway, I talked to my Steam friend/shoulder devil Lungora about it for a bit, and come up with this:

Shoulder devil Lungora? Is that why she wasn't talking to me, what's she been doing to deserve being called a shoulder devil?

Also the latest change (listed above this post) looks good.

Hm... not bad, but I want to have my own take on it:

Seonjo - Korea (Imjin War)
Cities and Naval units produce science upon fighting units from a civilization with greater score than yours. Receive a free naval unit upon discovering a technology that unlocks one.

UU: Turtle Ship
Same as Vanilla.

UU: Righteous Army
Unique. Combat Strenght depends on era, being similar to the strongest melee unit of the era. Cannot be produced normally. Every time one of your tiles gets pillaged or a war declared against you, there's a chance of a Righteous Army appearing in the nearest city

I've been thinking, and this might be a thing that's possible.

IPMifQm.jpg

Odin Allfather - The Aesir
Gain 20% production during wartime and +1 faith for every ally when you declare war.

UU: Einherji
Unique. There is a corresponding einherji unit for every age, which gains a combat bonus compared to that age's most powerful unit. When a vanilla land unit dies, an einherji of that age spawns in the capital. The einherji can only be produced from combat.

UU: Valkyrie
Unlike the knight it replaces, the valkyrie can travel over mountains.

I like it, I like it. But it'd require quite a bit of lua :/ Like, a lot of lua. Also it keeps Seonjo very defensive.

An why wouldnt it? You can't have an Imjin war korea without a defensive focus, as it'd make no sense.
Oh and the Seowon is many things, but its certainly isn't an observatory....

Another fictional civ idea. I had this one ages ago and kind of developed it as an idea, but it really needs updating and upgrading.

Arrakis - Paul Muad'dib
UA: Dry Lands: Any enemy troops in Arrakis controlled deserts take damage every turn. Deserts produce luxury resource Spice.
UU: Fremen: Unique, combat bonus in desert terraina nd extra movement in desert terrain.
UU: Mentat: Replaces Great Scientist, increases science (more than an academy) when garrisoned but decreases faith.

Would anyone happen to have any ideas for a Jordan civ? I kind of want to make one simply because I love the icon that Hiram made for them and it would be another cool addition to my modern Middle East civs. The only component I've thought of right now is possibly a Field Hospital UI. I'm not sure when it would be unlocked, but it would provide food and science (and health with CID) and heal friendly units ending their turn on it. It could also be built in city states where it would provide influence for you every turn that it's being worked. I'm not really sure what else to do though. The Joint Special Ops could be the UU, maybe an earlier Marine or something. Perhaps the UU could also represent Jordan's involvement in UN peacekeeping missions, where they're quite active. They'd obviously be some kind of diplomatic civ, I just have no idea what else to do at this moment in time. Anyone thoughts?

Actually, one thing I've been thinking about for a while is a UI that's actually a UU (Was thinking of some workarounds on how to make a Great Wall Unique Improvement instead of Building/Wonder). So the Field Hospital would be a mobile unit that heals nearby friendly units, but heals more effectively if it sets up (on top of some yield bonuses to its tile). Although I guess the problem would be the AI would be majorly confuzzled as to how to use it
