Civilization V Announced!

I just realized on the topic of no stacks that I don't believe has been addressed yet. What about Nukes and Aircraft. In reality you have multiple nukes in a launch site and also multiple types of aircraft in a city, so how will this be effected by the 1-per-tile rule?

And what about workers? They had better be able to stack infinitely to get work done faster.

I think it may just be that your allowed to put together units of the same type to strengthen a tile. Although the resource comment makes me worry.

But what's the point of worry, someone is designing this, and they are most likely not crazy.

They have something like the unit combining in Civ Rev.

Which resource comment are you refering to?

I realize that but if you've ever been to Houston, or any city in texas for that matter, it is far from the case and gives people like myself a bad name.

I completely understand u even though I never been in Houston. It's from a Russian magazine, but no Russian actually think this is true. And it's completely harmless joke compared to American "people in Russia are a bunch of communists"- one. The same situation, if people would actually visit Russia... etc. World is one big misunderstanding, lets not get offended by little things. ;)
Especially after such a great news, people should dance on the streets. I couldn't stop smiling for a week after civ5 was announced.:lol::lol:

:crazyeye:

We don't think all Russians are Communists, just the ones who talk the loudest.

The resource comment went something like this:
"Now resources are limited, when you build a tank, it uses your oil resource until it is destroyed, upon destruction you can then build a new tank"

I've seen this same rumour too, but hope its only *partially* true. I've always been wanting a resource system where you could only generate a limited number of units per resource-either hard capped or through the application of a production penalty. I think 1 unit per resource is a bit harsh though-unless you can have resource deposits of varying size (so a size 1 resource can build 1 unit, but a size 5 resource could build 5 units). Another thought I've had with regards to resources is that, as you build more resource-dependent units, your economy suffers (after all, you're directing resources away from civilian use into military use!)

well. the article from russian magazine gives some ideas on gameplay changes of the game, about research and empire expansion etc. But the style of their article is unserious and has so many not funny "jokes" that i don't know whether i should believe what it tells or not.

I'm assuming one tank represents an army.

And it's sort of cool really. Makes the oil resource that much more valuable...

just saw this thread/announcement. My life now has meaning! Well maybe not. But at least I have something to look forward to.

I see lots of worries from the modding community. I do hope they allow for extensive modding. but I personality don't care for extensive modding in games. I still have only played a few scenarios in civ4. I find the main game to be the best attraction. Scenarios far too often are too warlike. Mostly combat with far too many cumbersome units to move around. Even in rpg's I dislike mods for the most part. I like to play the game the way it was meant to be played. but I respect other people really enjoy modding and playing these mods.

It's beginning to look like there will be multiple changes to game play in Civ5. My big worry is that the initial version of the game will be quite unbalanced and will be a nightmare to play. :(

I'm assuming that corporations are gone too if religions are, BUT big fat BUT, it wasn't officially said that "religion is no more", "religions are gone" etc. What was said is "religions are not a factor anymore" and "cut out as known".

So it seems that they have changed them, but they might still be in. Interesting.

I rather hope that they do keep in corps because I have found i very hard to make money in a modern civ economy without them and a few moneymaking wonders along with them.

Well I certainly hope that proves to be the case with Religion. Indeed, I'd go further by saying I hope they bring in Ideologies to supplant religions in the later part of the game. Yet even this idea of reducing their impact on diplomacy seems a bit over-the-top. Lets be honest, Religion & Ideology have been the two major driving factors of diplomacy since the Middle Ages! That should be reflected in the game IMHO.
