The AI goes all wacko when you get a single atomic bomb. The funny thing is that you can keep asking for declaration of friendship every turn they denounce you and they'll just accept, then denounce you again.

I feel like the developers never played past atomic

Here is one of the saddest coastal cities I have ever seen. The city itself is okay and I grew it to pop15+ but look at the wonders Dido built there for me to take (she settled it 6 tiles from my capital). Note both Colossus and Great Lighthouse and the ice to block the use... Actually, I did not even get the bonuses from the Pearls nor the fish tile.

I do AI watching games and this gem of a "coast" start for Norway had me feeling bad for them. Granted they got Bergen settled to access the real ocean its a crappy tundra city. And the dumb AI with Samarkand (Non-City state version), but its on the real ocean side at least. This one was two teams, of two. Norway and Finland versus United Arab Emirates and Afghanistan, in an all Workshop civ game. The previous two AI games I did were with one Firaxis civ. It was UAE and Arabia versus Persia and Afghanistan. And then Denmark and Norway versus Sweden and Finland. Persia and Afghan went to space but it was a close game. And Finland/Sweden wiped out Denmark/Norway in a snowball of power for Finland militarily. Although Sweden stunted Denmarks growth pretty bad with a war taking their second city in the first 75ish turns. All Immortal/Pangaea/Strategic Balance in this one.

But hey, the Norwegians are just calling it a big fjord I guess?!?! But even those usually have openings to the ocean.

This is something else. Look at Gandhi´s population on t119 (Standard speed). On this Archipelago map the #2 capital was at Pop14 on the same turn...

That might have to be. As I played further and focused on science. No iron. No coal. No aluminum. And that map is settler difficulty. A science victory might be difficult (possible if I can build the building that gives some aluminum). Borders have expanded over the mountains so it is a matter of time till an AI finds me. But with ragging barbarians, those few tiles that I can see past the mountains are filled with them. Might be a bit before an AI civ locates me.

After more than 7.000 hours in this game, something NEW happened. An AI voted for ME to host the World Congress. I had not bribed it either and as you can see from the screen shot Venice put ALL 18 votes on me! I didn¨t know this was even theoretically possible! Game level is Deity.
