For the people who cannot find it.

Please also notice the symbols for the consoles at the bottom ;).

EDIT: For completeness, the Twitch channel
.

I like that the UI stylization is back, leaning into the Roman/Impact style Imperial font and some little fleur-de-lis reminiscent accents, looks a bit art deco. I'll go ahead and assume this means the rest of the game has a distinct style in mind too.

I hope they announce the release date. Or at least narrow it down to a quarter or month in 2025

It's going to be a loong extra wait from 1st to 20th August :undecide:

Provided the "study the past" series will reach its end soon (¿this week?). ¿Do you think we will have some other (non-gameplay) hints of Civ VI during August? ¿Or everyone at Firaxis will probably be out surfing and we'll have to way they come back office? :)

I would be kind of shocked if we didn't get a release date after a full mechanical reveal or that it wouldn't be first quarter of 2025. It would really weird to do a full mechanical reveal and then keeping player waiting more than six months for the game. Honestly, I'm kind of surprised we aren't getting a holiday release this year.

My vote is that everyone at Firaxis should get a vacation the week of August 12 - 16. Surfing? Great! Mountain climbing? Great! Exploring a new city? Great!

Because there's going to be a million questions once the gameplay reveal happens. Online, but probably in real life too. Might as well take the Swedish approach and make sure everyone has a nice summer holiday to recharge and re-energize, especially before such a significant reveal.

And I actually hope they don't announce a release date, at least, not yet. A quarter or half-year, sure. But we've seen enough Cyberpunk 2077's to know that even for games with a long development cycle, announcing a release date can be a trap that leads to a rushed release. But I'd rather they leave themselves some wiggle room so that if they decide it needs an extra month, they have that option. Firaxis does have a better track record than most companies in that regard, but at least III and VI could have benefitted from a bit more time from the modding-tools-at-release standpoint - by giving themselves flexibility, Firaxis increases the odds of a home run release.

Anyone else find it interesting that the time is 1:30 PM Pacific? Firaxis is still in Hunt Valley, Maryland, right? checks Well, no, it's Sparks, Maryland, but still Eastern time. That means end-of-the-work-day for Firaxis... make the big announcement and then it'll be time to celebrate.

A lot of stuff to do with Steam/Twitch run on PT. They'll get their stream in, and then hopefully all go out and enjoy a nice fancy steak dinner. 1:30 PT also is primetime (or at least only late evening) for Europe as well. Not good for those in Asia (although some in Japan/AUS/NZ probably will wake up early to catch it).

Civ 6 was only announced 5 months out from its final release date, and when they announced it, they had a few screenshots ready. I forget if they showed off any live demo of things at the announcement, but probably it means they'll be in a similar place in late August as they were when they announced that one. Which means we could easily get an exact date and a 5-6 month window before release. Whether they give themselves some wiggle room and only give a vague date, I have to believe it will be in Q1.

1:30 PM PT

Ah yes. 22:30 CEST, and 5:30 in the morning for East Asia (6:30 for East Australia). They certainly kept their worldwide audience in mind with that timing, didn't they?

Or track down where they're surfing. :mischief:

Nah it's terrible. As an end time it's not impossible, but as a start time it might as well be. Preferably, you'd want to be two to three hours earlier for Europe. Frankly, the only reason there's even a chance I'll catch it, is because I'll be on holiday, which means no alarm in the morning, and spending time with people (my family) who tend to go to bed later than I do, causing my own bed time to shift as well.

In PT, the optimal times would be 11 am for English audience focus, or 1 am for worldwide focus (assuming notable East Asian market - but for a US-based event it won't happen anyway for obvious reasons).

Honestly though, starting 11 am PT doesn't inconvenience Americans at all (it's during the workday, and for Firaxis themselves during the afternoon no matter what), while benefitting Europeans a ton. And for East Asia it doesn't make a difference because both are at an impossible-to-watch time anyway (unless you set an alarm).

Poor timing imo. Feels like they didn't think about what's best for the audience at all, only what's convenient in their own schedules - and let's be real, doing a stream at 1:30 pm instead of 4:30 pm isn't a major inconvenience by any means.

Thanks, I added a link to the OP :).

I want to second the call for all Firaxians to get a vacation and/or fancy dinner, though here in Baltimore it's crab, not steak.
I highly support all Firaxians getting a vacation and/or fancy dinner and hope to be invited. :D

Now the webpage has no specific date but says:
"Watch the gameplay showcase this august"

You might have been too fast at peeking at something which you maybe should not have seen ;).
I will adjust the timetable when we have the correct time then.

Alright, that's it, I'm not renewing my alliance with you and sending my spies to get the info! YOU KNOW STUFF!

We have spent so many years having nothing but speculation, civ6 complaints and personal wishes that it is going to feel surreal to finally ascend to the stage of actually discussing something tangible

Indeed. But knowing Civfanatics we'll be discussing the intangible for 90% of the time still anyway. They'll show some fish, and two pages later people will be discussing the AI of naval warfare in depth :D

What AI?
