Civilization

nice update, don't you just love it when you get scout-archers:D (in the shoshones case scout-composite bows)

Speaking of patience...

I have to face reality here:

One post per turn is boring. There's about fifty more posts of just building, building, building. It would be a snoozefest. I think I'm going to change my plan and get into the story I wanted to tell in the first place.

I think that's a good idea, but as long as there is more story I will be happy

How good is this story? Good enough to make me look up my username so that I could tell you. Definitely one of the best stories I have seen here. Keep up the good work. As far as 1 post per turn goes, its giving you a chance to give it a generational feel that I absolutely love.

Ah, darn, that makes me feel bad, because I kinda decided to ditch the one post per turn.

Now you make me want to reconsider...hmmm.

I'm sure you can keep the feel without 1ppt; later years when time is shorter may be tough. Last update really deepened the background story.

Great writing :D I love the story and how you justify everything that happens in the Civ universe. As for the 1 post per turn I think that's great, you just might have to keep posts short if not much happens. Happy Labor Day to you too!

@helmling don't worry, tradition dictates civ 6 will come out in maybe 2 or 3 years, you have plenty of time

A brilliant story so far. I am definitly subscribing. Good luck with all your aspirations for writing this beauty.

fantastic update :goodjob:

Spoiler :
this story is better than PotU :D

Once reminded, I couldn't resist commenting that the PotU introduction gives this little gem:

I should acknowledge, before I go any further, the obvious inspiration of Helmling and his Philosopher Kings series. I am not trying to compete with him; rather, I hope to complement him.

In other news, I'm going to drop out of lurking (for only a very short moment :hide:) to add my voice to the 'Great Story' chorus. Having thrown myself unsuccessfully at writing a few times, I can only imagine how hard it must be to come up with something for every single turn. I can't wait for the sections of the game where it isn't all that much of a struggle to find something to write about... ;)

I've always said it was very kind of Sisuitil to say that. I think it's obvious that he's proven himself the ultimate civ storyteller.

Oh, and very kind of all of you to keep encouraging me! I need it, believe me. To tell the truth, I keep getting distracted from the story by...other civ games!

Sorry, more to come this weekend, I sort-of promise.

i didn't notice until now, but you have an incredibly good start
