In an effort to help game pace without losing anything from the voting system, I've decided I'm going to allow to two types of calls for votes.

Call for Urgent Vote
Shall work exactly as calling for a vote has been working - it will trigger another council session after one gameturn in order to hold the vote.

Call for Vote
Shall not trigger a council session. The vote will be held during the next council session - whenever that happens to be.

So now you can decide if your matter is urgent enough to demand an immediate vote, or if it can wait until the next regular council session.
To be clear on a few points:
  1. If you don't identify something as an "Urgent" vote, it will not be treated as urgent.
  2. There is no criteria for whether something is urgent or not. Every player is free to decide which type of vote they are calling for.
  3. The timing choices are one gameturn or next regular council session. You can't choose other periods like two turns, or five turns etc.

The Fourth Council of the Mayans is now in session.
Council Session Results
Great Tribal Elders, it has been ten cycles since the last council session.
The people call upon you to meet again and guide them.

Urgent matters before the council:
  • None
The Fourth Council shall be in session until Tuesday night.
Each player may perform one action during the council session.

OOC: Yahzuk, most of the pictures do not work, in fact all of them except for the Social Policies one

I'll have to fix it tomorrow. Council session will be extended to ~2 days after pictures fixed.

After we put together the spinning disk and proper moisture content for the clay, pottery was a piece of mud cake or us. Glazing in a second firing was just an added bonus! And we made enough clay cubes in the process to start work toward a pyramid too. Oh, the pleasure of finding things out and exploring more!

It seems that our linguistic constructs call for many different ways to express ourselves. Individual sounds, so-called syllables, or whole words expressed as single symbols. Even complete sentences too! What path shall we choose?

Well, apparently I was misunderstood. I was calling for resolutions/votes, but oh well. First of all, I propose a resolution that we queue Mining, and then Bronze Working, to be researched ASAP. With these technologies, we could start clearing forest (and apparently Jungle? Makes no sense to me as a Civ4 player), and increase our military strength and production.

Screenshots should be fixed now. Council session will be extended until Wednesday night.

I'm afraid I don't know CIV4, so I can't really speak to the differences. But mining is required to clear forests, bronze working to clear jungles, and masonry to clear marshes.

You can't call for resolution to target two things, so I'm changing your wording to just queue Bronze Working. The difference is trivial in this case as there's only one path to get from where we are to Bronze Working. It would be important if someone wanted to queue something much deeper in the tech tree, like globalization. You could queue Globalization and CIV would set a path to get there. But if you wanted to control the path, you need multiple actions to queue the significant techs along the way.

SamSniped is calling for a vote on technologies that we ultimately will require. However, would it not be a grand undertaking, of classical proportions, to take us to a new era altogether, earlier than any other civilization on this land (assuming there are others, we have only found ancient ruins to lead us to this conclusion)?

How about finding about the whys and wherefores of our existence first, and then worrying about pointy sticks?

Therefore, I call for a vote to queue philosophy in the research queue, immediately after writing.

So, assuming we don't have any urgent votes (which we should consider calling, if there are not enough of us to take all the actions we need to take), we should accomplish the following this round:

NEEDS:

1) Queue a new technology
2) Queue something after the Pyramid (the GL won't be ready to build for 2 or 3 turns after pyramid-finishing). I'm thinking we should throw in a Scout or Warrior before the GL, but I'm open to suggestions.
3) New exploring order for Warrior
4) New exploring order for Scout (the current one is expired because all land within 5 hexes of that sugar resource is

NICE TO HAVES:

1) Put the Great Library in the queue after whatever we decided to build after Pyramids
2) Give battle orders to units (like maybe "run the hell away from barbs" to the Scout)
3) Give orders to Warrior to capture and escort back any City-State's worker he sees

2) Queue something after the Pyramid (the GL won't be ready to build for 2 or 3 turns after pyramid-finishing). I'm thinking we should throw in a Scout or Warrior before the GL, but I'm open to suggestions.

We started and used 2 turns on making monument
Monument is nice addition, and we will be able to get Amphitheatre with Legalism, as well sure progress with Rationalism later
I see it as only option for post-pyramid construction

The Yamabushi waas walking down the packed dirt path that ran from the pyramid construction site to the beach. While pondering metaphysical realities beyond the comprehension of mortals he heard one of the people who had attacked themselves to him, hanging upon his every word, saying a monument to his masters magnificence would be a good thing to have.

Hearing this the Yamabushi replied "I suppose that is an acceptable thing to construct, so long as it honours the glory of the gods as well"

-

ooc: I support queuing a monument after the pyramid. and urge all acolytes, like minded persons, and persons who desire social policies sooner rather than later to support this measure.

A monument after the pyramid.
as an acolyte.

OOC : wouldn't it be better to get another warrior instead ?

Monument already had 2 turns of production

Also, no , monument will provide us much faster Landed Elite, thru Legalism which will grant Amphiteatre (which cost much more hammers), and obcourse faster Rationalism process
