Yeah I personally think we the civ player are the most intellectual computer gamer dont u think so?I have joined a lot of game discussions forums and the ppl who are there tends to be nasty, dirty, say something wild...How ya all personal opinion!Do ya all think Civ player are the smartest?

AOE 2 not so smart,i got a dumb enemy who likes to play AOE2.
Turn based game needs passion.Smarter one then have passion.
Baldur's gate dunno bout that but still strategy players are smarter than rpgs

Look i am not saying koreans rts are dumb
I said I got a friend who likes to play Age of Empire II and shows off his skills in a cybercafe.I dun like his proudness.I dun like his behaviour and guessed he is not a smart person

Look right right now you must be thinking that I judge things by small outlooks only but the truth is I never say anything about AOE 2 ppls are dumb since when?I am just trying to put across my idea that Civ players are smarter.Regarding I said a friend whom I described dumb is an example of how civ players are smarter,I have been here for months and found ppl here are nice and intellectual ( Seldom got probs)

I play Civ and still I am a fool :o

But that would be the exception to the rule then...

I have to say that when I started playing CIV (1992) I wasnt really smart (I was 14 years old).. but i was interested in history.. To be interested in history, or even well-read in it, doesnt mean that one`s smart.

To be a successful strategic civ player you need experience...

On the other hand: Most "dumb" peaople I know, dont bother to play civ or any other strategy game at all...

Surely those who play chess against Deep Blue and win are the smartest players? What's that Chinese startegy game with all the different tiles that can be piled up? That's supposed to be fiendishly complex. I thiunk it's called Go, but that might be the one with the black and white counters that you turn over when you win them.

Civ playing, or even succesful Civ playing, or almost any other games succesful
playing, doesn't mean you're smart. But smart people are most interested on some games,
like Civ2. :D
You weren't smart when you started playing Civ?
Oh, JUST 14 years old?
I started playing Civ in 5 year age :D
I was veryy smart then...

I think the tiles one is Mah Jong, and the black-white one is Reversi.

Going off-topic, mahjong is not a strategy game. It's a form of gambling. ;) And even old ladies can play it. I know too but dunno how to 'count' or calculate my winnings. :( It has its 'strategic' elements but also depends much on luck.

It's quite complicated. And then, there're the different versions or styles like Taiwanese style, Hong Kong style etc etc.

Intelligence is highly relative and very subject to OPINION. I don't think it's smartness or IQ so much. Some people like the reflex games or what they call 'twitch' games. Some people like using their brains more as in strategy. Like in downtime, some people kick back and watch a game or a fave show, others prefer to read. I would say an RPG would be in between the two. I got a buddy who is a smart and intelligent guy. He prefers the Resident Evil Metal Gear Solid games. Personally, I don't think it matters.

I think in general gamers who primarily play Strategy, RTS, and Simulation games tend to be more intelligent than those who primarily play Sports and action games. But there are many, like myself, who love all of these categories.

AOE is defenatly n amazingly easy game in it's SP. I can't tell about the online game because my ping is always so slow... That's also the reson I sttoped playing HL mods and started playing OPF in SP.

If you compare computer games to other games...

Civ-style games are like Chess
both require strategy, development, planning, defense, and offense

shoot them ups are like Baseketball
speed and acuracy matters, a second of inaction can cause you to lose, adrenaline rushes

how many members of the Lakers are going to be smarter than a Grandmaster chess player?

It has been basically proven :king:
Then again a good many pro sports players know how to move chess pieces, this is mainly because they went to college :D

No offense

EDIT: two words removed, two added, and two smilies added
