Clashing of Empires - A standard map version of Rhye's Civilization Expanded

I had my 2nd test with the Mayans - and I lost...
Rome got the 12k culture in the year 2000...
I just forgot about this, and when I realised it was too late.
I sent 2 transports of armors to Rome,
but I could not kill a single TOW infantry...

And when my second contingent of armors headed to Rome,
This was on the map:

"YE SHALL NOT PASS!"...

...and here is the final map (2000 AD)

/First Mongolia conquered Scandinavia,
then Mongolia got beaten by Babylon, mostly.
China was very strong at the end.../

Rome, 1380 AD
at the start of Industrial age (demigod level)
/with a colony in South-Australia.
I had a colony in South-America but the Inca took it away! :rolleyes:/

Playing a v4-test2 as the Chinese, Monarch level. Rome is pretty strong, they even built Pax Romana in 130 AD! They carved up Scandinavia nicely with Mongolia's help, and they even got all of Spain and that little island off the northwest african coast. Babylon just got the city north of Greece..

Meanwhile as china.. I love the turtle ship! I wasn't even expecting it to cause a golden age lol, but it did, right when I needed it ;)

I'm pretty sure it says so, I just forgot about it ;)

So I entered the Industrial age in 1580, not bad, my personal record for this mod.. And right now in the late 1700 there is a world war that's been going on since the mid 1500's!

It started off as a colonial war, when I wanted to appropriate myself the 2 japanese cities built in the southwest pacific, while I was colonizing the north of australia, and the indians, celts and ethiopians got the rest of that continent.

Then suddenly the Celts decided to invade my australian cities, and they surprised me by using colonial infantries! That's when the world war started :)

Thanks to my own colonial infantries I retook my city and got most of australia now, and finally I am free to concentrate on India itself, as they are a big problem: large, rich, and in a golden age! Thankfully theya re throwing all their old war elephants/elephant archers against my riflemen...

The 2 sides (I love it when the game can actually manage to have 2 sides rather than just a bunch of nations fighting):

China (me!), Babylon, Mongolia, Zululand, Carthage and the Iroquois

VS

Rome, Celts, Scandinavia (pitiful with only 1 city), Ethiopia and the Maya.

I haven't contacted the Inca yet heh, the Jorubans are gone, and Japan is now only on its little island. Too many units in the cities so I won't concentrate on that island for now, but it seems like they will redeclare war on me eventually, as they already have trade embargos.

This is fun :) and what I just realized, I don't even care about the victory conditions - spaceship, domination, conquest, culture, diplomatic. I prefer playing interesting situations like this world war :)

Hey, I am glad to read you enjoy it, narmox!

How do you see v4 so far?
Can we release it on the main page?
:)

Babylonians still built Temple of Baal AND Gilgamesh.. But I blame Carthage for not building Baal before the 1300s AD lol.

Otherwise I see no major bug! The 3.2.2 mongol Mangudai are GREAT too, I tried them a few days ago.

I actually give mangudai NOW move value 3... and blitz... :)

Baal and Gilgamesh...

Ehh, now to have Gilgamesh you need incense and wines...
and I guess you need these two within city radius
(can you check the editor now?)
If it is so (I intend it), then only Jerusalem and Susa (both Babylonian)
should be able to build it...

Pls check mangudai too in the editor (you have now v4-test-2),
does it have the move 3 and the blitz???
And DOES mangudai have A:3 D:2...?
I don't remember... but A:3 is a bit too much, isn't it?

mmmmmmmm big typo. 2.2.3 not 3.2.2 ;) Blame the fact I was up all night at work :) I'm pretty sure it had the blitz too when I tried it. You just rarely can use the blitz when you attack D:2 archers and spearmen ;)

Gilgamesh was built in Susa by Babylonians, no problem there. But they built temple of Baal too, but that's because the Carthaginians didn't build it by the 1300s lol. Stupid AI ;)

Smaller bugs? hmm... Probably just carthage not building temple of baal in time. Haven't really paid attention in other games if it always built it or not. Haven't checked the civilopedia extensively.

Hm maybe one thing... I had spices being sent by the Indians, I had Mercantilism, and 3 harbors. Yet I couldn't build India Company in my capital which had a harbor. Maybe some hidden requirement that weren't explained in Civilopedia. Oh duh, since it reduces corruption it can't be built in the capital. Nevermind!

In fact, I don't see any issues at all!

Wait a minute.

Temple of Baal was built in Assur, yet civilopedia says it needs wines and dyes within city radius. I dont' see any of that in Assur's radius... Looking in the editor, it doesn't have the requirement that the goods must be in city radius.

Ok, so let's set it straight :)
We wanted it so that Gilgamesh can be built ONLY in Babylon - and that is solved.
Fine. :)

Now, do we want it so that Baal to be built ONLY in North Africa, Carthage?
I mean culturally it could be for the Babylonians, too, could not be?
What do you guess?

Well I thought that that's what you wanted. Civilopedia does say Temple of Baal was in Carthage. So why not give Carthaginians this wonder, just like Academy is for romans, Stonehenge for Celts, Sacred river for indians, etc...

I have finished my demigod game with the Romans
Space Race victory in 1924! :)

The Celts were very advanced, having 5 of the 10 Ship-parts,
there was a time when they were ahead of me in finished parts!

Also much into the modern age were: Mongols, India, Inca (w. SoL).

In the moder age I had a quick war to conquer Carthage,
and so I made the Roman Empire the size it deserves...

That's quite the Roman empire, except you have eastern europe instead of britain ;)

Spaceship in 1924. heh.. must be beacuse of Demigod.. At monarch I can barely start buildling spaceship. Maybe cuz I wage too many wars ;)

Well, it must be because of the hgher level...
In this demigod game I had techs in 4 turns with ease,
because of the load of cash other civs generate through trade.
And you can trade techs fast, as AI civs develop fast...

yes I can easily get techs in 4 turns by the late industrial or by the modern age too (such as in my celts game). The element missing is the AIs developping fast.. Makes trading slow down in the modern age ;)

Well, if nobody comes up with bug-reports,
I guess it is about time to put up v4 on the main board (front page)...

...narmox, do you agree? :)
