Clashing of Empires - A standard map version of Rhye's Civilization Expanded

I like v3 :) !
Started a game on Emperor, as the Romans. I have to say it's much more difficult than normal RoCX. You are practically trapped in Italia, even Legionaries aren't good enough to beat those barb immortals. Only access to 2 goody huts, and both seem to yield only maps (or was that just bad luck?). I built my first city south of Rome, the second in the eastern Alps (Austria). About that time I did the Republic slingshot, while the other known civs (CA,CE,SC,BA) were ahead in almost every aspect (well, not in science thanks to the Academy). I then managed to capture my first city, Carthago - after they lost lots of warriors and mercenaries at the walls of Rome. The two new Roman wonders really help to keep up with the other nations!

Did I mention that I was forced to celebrate 16 turns of the Golden Age in Despotism and Anarchy, with two towns?

I am glad indeed to see that the new Roman wonders are "working" :)

I have a test of v3 with India.
I go on a peaceful way, and wish to see how the world is spinning...
So far ROme and Scandinavia are fine and strong-looking,
which is just what I wished for! :)
Ethiopia and Carthage also a major force - they cleaned off Joruba...
Babylon is behind is tech, and Asia is also lagging behind a bit.
History went smooth:
Crusades in the 13th century,
Leonardo built in the 15-16th,
Papal States in the 11-12th...
all by Rome! :)

Can you create scn :) ?

As "300 BC" "100 AD" "800 AD" "1250 AD" "1492 AD" and more ?

Why not a scn on apogee of Roman Empire under Trajan ?

Well, is "scn" means scenario for Civ2? :)

I am sorry but I do not intend to be doing anything for Civ2 - am not familiar with it too much.

As a matter of fact, it is enough for me to have this little stuff CoE...
It took me about two months to get this far with it, now I slow down,
hoping that things get to a certain level with it, though I am always glad
to polish it more a bit... :)

No, create scenarios for your mod ;)

Sorry of misunderstood :(

I am playing with India. I found that they have no elephants (?). The only source is where babylon founded its second city. And after some plateaus and desert tiles. So i forgot about them and gone without.

I've got some problems with each civ trait: india should be comm and rel, but it starts with a scout and has the benefits of scientific (at least it seams, since i gained a free tech when passing to middle ages). I can also build monuments and have priests. 4 traits?

Ah, I'm looking for a cultural victory and two wonders (the river and the temple) seem to me too small in number (even if they are the only who can build them)

Thanks for the feedback...

Elephants: Hm, I think India should have them - I will see to that

Traits: India is in a kind of poor situation, so I gave these many traits.
They need the scout as AI to get contact and the scientific,
yes, to keep up w. tech...

It will be hard to go for cultural victory,
as Rome will have many things to amass culture... :)

Why would you want to play a historic rome scenario on a world map? This is a cool idea for another rome scenario but a different map would be better, I think.

But i would like a lot a few historical scenarios on V.Soma's map :goodjob:

I prefer 100x100 V.Soma's map than this big map of Rhye's Expanded ...

i have the choice no ? ;)

Ultimate reason : too big maps take too long time to load :(

Ok. other civs have their traits changed, since civpedia is like the one in Rhye's?

Soma, you really should update the civopedia with all those changes regarding traits, wonders and other stuff. At the moment it's quite confusing and annoying - you simply can't remember all the changes just from the forum thread, especially when there's a in-game help which tells you something wrong.
(And where's the problem with an additional text file anyway? We even had one for RCM1, as in-game reference for the numerous goals.)

Hm, yes, sorry, I forgot to mention to that Pedia is not following the changes,
it would mean some overwriting of Rhye's files.

I try to give all information here in the thread...
But maybe - if things to be taken that seriously -
later a CivPedia rewriting will be necessary...

(I have no experience in doing that, I have to admit)

For something that i'm not ablo to understand, I can't build the eiffel tower with India (not tried witht the other civs). For many turns no one had even the tech to build it before me and now China begins building in 1948 (when I am in the modern era, ready to build nuclear weapons..). It's not a big problem, but its 6 cultures per turn would have been useful (and i used the 2 techs of the encyclopedia for having steel and build the tower...).

You need iron for the Eiffel Tower - do you have that? :)

Well, I feel that CivPedia shouzld be written...
Just give me help how to do it... :)

Should I overwrite the Pedia entries or have another attached to it
like with RMC1?
How to do either of them? ...

Is it all to be done in

Civilopedia.txt ?

:)

If yes, I will see to that - but only in April...
(I have works to do... and RMC1)

Yes, I have Iron, near the capital. But three more turns and culture (one city) will be mine. And in some turns more I'll reach 33k with the empire.

India is in a good position, easly defendable and rich of resources and luxuries. The only thing i felt missing was the elephants to build the unique unit...
And electricity is so far away when everything is jungle or marsh..

Cultural victory, 1972.
12 hours 17 minutes 22 seconds.

I like this mod, since my pc is too slow to run Rhye's properly (even if I play it too, waiting 40 minutes between turns....). We only need the pedia. If you don't want to create a new one, you may update Rhyes, adding in the end your changes, so it would work for both mods

Ok, I would like the Pedia be so that for both Rhye's and mine,
so maybe it will be an addition at the end, as you, Riker suggested - but then...
...will not it be still confusing when you read
all those info boxes in-game (tech-tree...)? :(
