CO-3: Immortal Emperors

I'm itching to attack Gandhi as I missed the Persian war completely, but what does the team say?

Well i think I showed whihc way i am leaning by putting troops near him and scoutingout his two cities.... :devil:

He has Grenadiers so his defenders are stronger than they look and we have only the mere beginnings of a Navy at the moment so doubt we would be actuslly attacking in the next 10 turns anyway........ But we could be building a nvay for some future fun.

So do we carry on militarily or hunker down for a peaceful win (we have the land and research power to easily run for space).

Ralph

I am all sold for the :hammer: ...

Cheers

edit: speaking of which, I paste the call I made in the other SG I am in ;)
Spoiler :
If there is interest I might launch another pure warmonger game at the end of the week (perhaps higher level but easier rules :mischief:)...

edit2: I think the IW in Lalibela is a mistake, it's a huge number of turns wasting the 100% modifier and the return is better hammer wise if we build the wonders in two different cities... finally another city could benefit from a Moai + dry dock combo to build us a navy for latter intercontinental invasion ... :devil:

It is always fun to stomp on Mr Passive Resistance. Also note that, as usual, Toku is backward and hated, and should be easy if we want to head that way.:)

So, RRR, what do you recommend for those wonders??

What about Addis Adaba for Moai and Persopolis with a mix of farms and workshops for IW? This city can also benefit from latter levee... it seems Gandhi has been voted as the next target :)

I think the IW in Lalibela is a mistake,

I think you are correct and freely admit it was my mistake :blush:

You suggestions for Addis and Persepolis sound much better

Ralph

So my hawkish ambitions were stymied by a lack of galleons, turning this round into a peaceful build fest. Some MM, observatories, grocers, the whole shebang.

I did a double switch to US and emancipation at the cost of a three-turn anarchy. A clever clog could infer from this that I researched democracy and that's what I did.

A GA was born in Moscow. I had no clue what to do with him, so I sent him to the hills outside the city to contemplate the wholesome beaty of the countryside.

Moscow has built a couple of galleons, so we could start ferrying troops across the channel into India. There's a slight problem, however. Gandhi will get assembly line in six turns, so we would be saing hello to insta-upgraded infantry.

My take on the national wonders: IW in Persepolis, Moai in Tarsus.

Then a personal note. I'll be spending the rest of this week in Lapland, and next week my compulsory service in the Finnish army will begin, so it'll be several weeks before I have time for CFC. Thanks for a good game and good luck on the rest. :goodjob:

Oh! Too bad you didn't get any fights in your last sets :(. Good luck for the army! See you around Stuge! :salute:

and got it for tomorrow... thoughts (might as well not fight infantrys with rifles)?

I will probably play tomorow finally to let the team give input (+ I have some other stuffs to do :D)... I hope it's not a problem (still in the 48h deadline)!

Cheers,

Also a builder set to prepare an invasion of India... :lol:

We teched Steam Power, Artillery, and AL, and stole Military Science from Gandhi (EPs are still focused on him to see his research and incitate revolts in the future).

I rushed buy quite some buildings, trying to do the gold multiplier and levees first (on preparation for the massive military build up :D).

Workers reconfigured persian lands function of the specialisation (basically commerce everywhere except Persopolis which is busy on the IW after having built a levee) and are now finishing roading our empire. Persian cities are still quite small though...

Addis Adaba will finished Moai in 3 turns I think...
Moscow will grow a GP in approximatly 10 turns with the current number of specialists. With enough luck, it won't be an artist and we would be able to start a GA to help the war effort :goodjob:

Note: there is a rally point to the sign "Indian expedition"...
Toku is in WHEOOHRN so whatch out!
No beakers invested in Railroad.

What do you think guys, we have now all the techs we need for Gandhi (I mean to crush him), so what about some turns at 100% gold for some crazy Kremlin boosted rush buy (gold mult+troops)?

Sure, some rush buys wouldn't go astray. We'd do well to hit him asap before he gets... oh.. right, he's Gandhi, so he won't ever really fire up. :D

Toku will probably just be bickering with Izzy again, I'm not too worried (famous last words).

What do you think about the future moves? Do we want to vassalize gandhi quickly (grabbing his wonder and holy cites) to move on more backward target or do we go for total annihilation? I would do the first option ...

@Sweetacshon: agreed on Toku :)
@all: what do we want to research next (supposing we commit to domination or conquest)?
combustion -> tanks ? combustion -> gunships?
Other victory: supraconductors?

Maybe just the quick hit on Gandhi and vassalise... should avoid the larger part of the colony maintenance thing if we don't take it all... also, maybe we can get him to tech for us.. who knows??

If we're thinking of Toku after that, he's still very backward, and maybe Izzy's will take a fair chunk before we get there, but we'll roll right over him, even if we tech SR path, probably. :)

Maybe at some point it would be more benificial to be in SP as we would still benefit from foreign trade routes ... Perhaps a switch at the end of our next GA? Need communism though :lol:

Roster duty: Colony -> up!
Sweetacshon: -> on deck!

btw don't we need another player to replace Stuge? Four players is enough?

Cheers :)

Maybe we do. It's up to Colony, I guess. Btw, where is Colony??

Hmm, at first I thought you guys were doing decent, but then I realized this is epic. I think you should have already punished ghandi hard by now. On the other hand, at least the tech isn't too bad so I am guessing you were trying to push that harder than the fronts. Some people may argue you're focusing on tech too much right now, but I'll have to go and read over the other threads in detail to see.

That domination win should already be in sight right about now...

Agreed... you could perhaps play the next round to keep the game going waiting for Colony... :)

I was away and only got back early this morning, I thought I'd posted, but obviously not, not good SG etiquette:blush:. It's going to take me a couple of hours to catch up with everything, so if you're free Sweetacshon then it might be an idea to swap with you this round.

My initial thoughts on the current position would be to declare on Gandhi with the initial aim to slowing his tech pace a bit, then depending on how that war goes either finish off a domination win or get a lazy SS win.

Yeah, I have this paranoia about falling behind in tech so far that it becomes very hard to get back into the tech trading game when I'm playing on a higher level than I'm used to, I imagine that I'm not the only one. One of the differences that I'm still trying to adapt to is the much higher cost of war on Immortal than Emperor, and when I started the game I thought Epic might help with that jump a bit.

I might be able to play this evening, but if not, it won't be until tomorrow night. If I haven't posted a "playing now" by, say, 7 hrs from now, you should take it.

Yep, me too. I always find myself slotting in observatories and banks when I should be massing rifles... and so on.
