Alright, I did a quick scan of the earlier posts, and looked at the last save.
No matter what happens, the game is essentially over so I’m not sure how fun it will be to complete it now but.. I didn’t realize before how bad a spot the AI’s got in this map.
Ghandi with 3 very terrible cities on your continent just waiting to flip or be taken easily to you. He has a few crappy cities on 1 or 2 tile islands with just no production whatsoever…
His own small continent is mostly ice & tundra. His only real city is his capital, which, as fate would have it.. Is directly facing you waiting for a 1 turn backstab & raze move. I do not think you could ask for a better spot here.
Even Bismark’s wonder capital is coastal waiting to lose it to a surprise attack. His vassal has a small crappy continent too. And the other mainland has 3 powers struggling. With Togu in the territory lead there, and since he does not like to trade, every AI is crippled in that department this game.
Again, I don’t see how it’s possible to lose here, it just can’t happen in this set-up. Hell, your even getting 3x the movement speed when attacking the continents here, it’s just impossible. Those ships are traveling at the speed of light.
The interesting thing is, you could win from here doing just about anything.. War or Peace.. UN.. Etc..
Some other issues, I see some Fank II units. Why did you guys waste some decent cav with such poor promotions? One has Flank II with -1 terrain movement. I can understand if you had 3 promos to assign and really needed that extra 1 movement NOW… But usually you only do Flank to get the sentry.
There were some semi-critical mistakes with the timing of the Globe and other issues. Oh well we all been there and did that once… what does not kill you makes you stronger for the next game at least. I always make sure now I complete it on time (with turns to spare) cause you always get those ******** random events like… Ohh a theatre has been destroyed… You can’t finish Globe now sucker! Ohhh, your city revolted to the enemy without even any first time warning… your Globe theatre can’t be complete sucker!
Maybe it would have been best to just finish off Darius here, that would allow some interesting diplo plays later on, but again it doesn’t really matter much. Everyone is probably going to have a different viewpoint on that issue anyway.
I’ll be looking forward to the next one, but please increase the difficulty a little bit
