Cocktails

Gin and tonic, Gordon's. But technically not a cocktail?

That is if I can't get Kaipirovska.

Have a wild guess? Lucy, I'll give jucing the lime a try.

The origional cocktail, and still the best.

Also Pimms and lemonaid (no cucumber but strawb's vital. Really WTH with cucumber in a cocktail?).

Sangria in the sun.

Whiskey and dry ginger in the cold. Or by a fire when wet and cold.

Not sure if any of these qualify as cocktails, but...

Point of information: a cocktail is any mixed drink that's got booze and something else in it.

Whiskey sour
Blue Hawaiian
Rum and coke
Bloody Mary
Kamikazi
Brandy

Brandy's just a spirit, and I'd call a kamikaze a shooter, but the rest are all cocktails.

Just a little squirt! Remember you're not making a margarita.

The origional cocktail, and still the best.

You sure about that?

Actually, cucumber juice is delicious. Juice a cucumber with a lemon, strain, chill, and mix with vodka. Very tasty and refreshing on a hot day. There's a Cucumber Lemon Vitaminwater out there (if you can find it) that shortens this step considerably.

A Bloody Dew - Crown Royal and Code Red Mt Dew. Royal Dews, with regular Mt Dew, are my runner-up.

I've had quite a few Gin & Tonics this summer. I'm afraid malaria is making its way northwards, so the quinine in the tonic is essential to my health. Can't say that I've had many types of cocktails but GTs might be the nicest one. I enjoy Cuba Libres too, or a Caipirinha, though usually I drink cachaça straight.

Does Irish coffee count as a cocktail? If so, that's awesome too: alcohol and coffee in one! Schiedam coffee (Irish Coffee with jenever instead of whiskey) is nice too, perhaps even nicer, as old jenever is nicer than whiskey.

I don't think most commercial tonic water has an effective amount of quinine. IIRC, Schweppes doesn't.

Hendrick's gin!

Captain Morgans Parrot bay right out of the bottle. Zowie.

I know...its not really a cocktail...but the stuff is so good its evil.

While I was at Pennsic I accidentally punched my friend in the balls for handing me a bottle of coconut rum. :(

You're right.

For example, in the United States and in Germany, quinine is limited to between 83-85 parts per million (83-85 mg/L).[12] In order to achieve a therapeutic dose of quinine from tonic water, a person would have to drink between 6 and 12 quarts in a 24-hour period.

My faviorate has always been Margaretta, 1/2 measure triple sec, 1 measure tequila and 1.5 measures freshly squezed lime juice. I am currently working on reverse engineering one I had the other weekend, something like 1 measure gin, 1 measure elderflower cordial and 2 lemonade. I think it needs something else, I am looking at lemon juice and / or triple sec.

Ceasar

clamato juice (Motts)
vodka
lime slice
ground peper
a splash of worstershire sauce
a splash of tobasco sauce (more if you like it spicy)
add a celery stick to garnish (not required, IMO)

Glass is served with a salted rim using celery salt.

You can also add horseradish
